I love when I get in the car, I just "plop" my iPhone on the magnetic holder and it's there and charging. When I leave, just grab it. No two-handed clamp contraption, no grabbing a cable sticking out of the dash. I'm amazed they would consider removing it.

I also keep a pair of slim optical reading glasses "MagSafed" to the back of my phone so I always have glasses with me. Super convenient!

I vote NO to removal!

Does anyone remember the rumors that iPhones would soon have no buttons and no USB-port? Pepperidge Farm remembers

The only problem I have with magsafe is the "connect/disconnect" sound it makes. Especially annoying in the middle of the night on the bed stand when it randomly makes it. Never been able to find how to disable it. The wife and I both use only Apple approved MagSafe devices and it does it on both of our iPhone 15 Pro's.

Unbelievable that they would even consider this given the accessory popularity that has grown up alongside MagSafe. I use it constantly with chargers and battery packs and many people use it in their cars.

This just goes to show you how out of touch Apple currently is with their user base. Maybe China told them to go fly a kite when they asked for magnets....lol.

I have a non-magsafe wireless charger for home for my phone, but the Apple magnetic one is so much nicer (which I use for travel.)

Surprised they didn't just change the layout of the MagSafe magnets and force everyone to buy all-new accessories. They love that approach.

I personally don’t use MagSafe but others do. I only charge wired. Maybe instead of MagSafe it will be POGO connectors like iPad.
I personally would rather have that - a contact version like the computers and iPads would be FINE with me. Just something instead of a USB port.

Elderly people (older than me) have a hard time with plugging stuff in. Any inductive charging works well, but I'd think a Mac-style or ipad-style MagSafe would work just as well - the hard part would be the cases. I guess larger case openings?

I can’t survive without MagSafe!

75% charging efficiency and some accessories that are knocked off the back easily (much like your mom). Magsafe on phones was always a bad idea. I say get rid of it.
These two posts perfectly illustrate the emotional response that MagSafe causes iPhone users.

A feature that has its pros and cons, the mere fact that Apple may be questioning its future is quite revealing if indeed this rumor is true.

Whether it’s MagSafe, the emerging Ultra line, or the tumultuous topic of “Apple Intelligence” this company has big challenges ahead.

Forget the personalities and past job performance, add in the transition to the new CEO and the once dominant Apple suddenly finds itself in a precarious position. This movie is one to watch.

The problem with removing magsafe is that wireless charging just doesn't work well otherwise. The camera bump gets in the way of a general charging pad.

The charger built into my car might as well not exist. It overheats and never hits right. Magsafe is hands down the best implementation.

Magnets and wireless charging are extremely useful. The only change I would make is instead of inductive charging which is slower and more wasteful and can't transmit data (at least Apple's implementation), I would rather it be conductive like the iPad's Smart Connector.

Also all the iPads except the Mini are probably too heavy for magnets to be very useful. Maybe Apple can add a magnet and Smart Connector (combined) to the Mini.

I sure hope they don't ditch MagSafe. Not only have I invested in a lot of MagSafe accessories, even if my charger isn't plugged in, I still have a place to hang my phone.

Big mistake if true. I have an iPhone 14 Pro Max, and MagSafe has been my saving grace ever since iOS 18 came out and killed my charge port. Apple said it was an anomaly, because the phone chooses the best way to charge and refuses to fix it, or claim it as their issue. If they're going to hide bugs in their software to force people to upgrade, then mag-safe is a non-negotiable. Mag-Safe has also been apart of their products for what feels like nearly 2 decades now.

So the mock-ups made by people (not Apple), of a product Apple has not yet announced, did not include MagSafe. Therefore, MagSafe is likely on the way out. Talk about a self-licking ice cream cone.

There are some magnets in the ipad, not for charging, but in general. I use a desk mount made for ipads, and with no case my ipad pro (11") magnatises to the mount.

If MagSafe was replaced with iPad like POGO it would serve a double function for charging and data at present it just does one.
That's fine as long as it is still magnetic and works as a mount, that's is all that matters. MagSafe on the Mac uses POGO.

My 16e has no magsafe so I just bought a $12 magsafe case on Amazon.

But still, Apple giving it to us than taking it away would be a wack move.
