Every year after an iPhone release we get these stores that claim Apple is cutting production.

Apple cuts production of iPhone 13 due to decrease in demand
Dec 2, 2021 — Apple has cut production of the iPhone 13 after demand for the product had slowed down due to the ongoing effects of the supply chain crisis.

The Phone That's Failing Apple: iPhone XR - WSJ
Jan 6, 2019 — Tepid iPhone sales aren't all that ail Apple in China. Competition from local smartphone rivals, trade-dispute fallout and a court battle could make 2019 a tough year for the company in its most important market outside the U.S.
Yup. Some people never learn.

iPhone XR was the #1 best seller in its year, by a large margin too.

iPhone 13 was also the #1 best seller.

And note that iPhone 13 mini didn't even make the top 10 list, even outsold by a Redmi phone.

It’s time for the regular iPhone line to ride off into the sunset. No one gets excited for the new ones anymore. No one cares. People tune in to the announcement shows to see the new Pro devices and gloss right over the normal ones. It’s the same with the iPad, people want Pros and Airs. MacBooks too. The only exception is the iMac because there isn’t a Pro version anymore but people are certainly intrigued at the idea of one in the M series era and it will even help the normal edition more having a halo product to draw people in.

The iPhone is a premium product and should be sold as such. Keep the SE for the kids if you must but from here on out the Pro should be the new standard.

This could be me. I have the 14 pro max but the 14 plus could have done me just fine. I’m not massive into taking photos/video so wouldn’t need the camera and for the life of me I cannot tell the difference between a 60hz screen or a 120hz! (Even though my wife’s 13pro our iPad pro and kids MacBook Pro all have them). Dynamic island vs notch is much of a muchness if I’m honest and always on display I don’t really need. So yes, I feel the 14 plus although it has been panned, for a lot of people could work quite well.
I actually considered getting an iPhone 14 Plus 512 GB but since it does not have a USB Type C port of the type used on the iPad Air, no sale for me.

This is why there should only be one iPhone, just like the old days. Every phone they put out should be a "pro". Just make three sizes, mini, regular, plus.
No what made apple today is the ability to give options most normal people don’t buy their iPhones in September anyways most buy around December and February around tax time that’s where the normal iPhone sells when they have different models more people bought phone s

Yes a no the people who want the pro will buy a pro but majority buy the regular iPhone

My wife has a 14 pro non max, I have a 12 regular. I cant see much a difference between the two other than when comparing hand in hand, hers definitely has more noticeable weight and seems top heavy. I assume the camera. Sure both don't weigh much, but the pro is about 20% heavier than the 12. Still, I may go with the plus just for the bigger display. Weight is less than the 14 pro and probably more evenly distributed.

I'm loving my 14 Pro Max. It is so much faster than the 12 Pro Max that I had. Add the better camera, etc... It was definitely worth the upgrade for me.

I don’t think any iPhone is exciting full stop. When other manufacturers are innovating with folding/flip phones and Apple turn out relatively incremental updates (including the pro models) the iPhone feels a bit old even though it may only have been released. I can comfortably say that I will not need to upgrade my 14PM for 3 years at least as I know that fundamentally Apple will not bring anything new to the table in the next few years.

To my surprise, Apple also said on stage that the 14 Plus (not the 14 Pro Max) has the best battery life.

I don't even know why Apple sells any model other than the Pro Max. It seems that is the only model Apple cares about, they want to rip off their customers and force them to buy the Pro Max even if they would prefer not to.

Apple should stop the fragmentation they started with their iPhone 11/Pro. It's too confusing. Remember when the only choice you needed to make when the new iPhone released was if you wanted the larger screen (since size was the only difference)? I miss those days. Apple offered the same experience to all customers.

iPhone 14 (Regular) feels like if Porsche released a car with cloth seats/upholstery, hubcaps and an ACDelco speakers.

Screw the Pro devices, many of us do not give a **** about bull**** camera improvements.

If I were to ever buy a Pro iPhone, it would not be for the cameras.

I would have bought a iPhone 14 mini but there is none 🤷‍♂️ !
I keep reading that "people want bigger phone", not sure why?

Personally my hand and pockets haven't got any larger with time.
I just want a phone that fits in those, one that I can hold and use with only one hand ✋.

People that want a big and bulky screen could already buy the other models, or even an iPad.

It was a really weird choice for them to leave the iPhone 13 in the lineup. Apple didn’t keep the 5 around when they brought out the 5C. They must have a trove of binned chips they still need to move.

Agree 100%. I've read people online complaining that the Pro Max isn't big enough.

Those people should just buy a cellular iPad mini for $649 and call it a day. Half the price and probably still not big enough for them...

I like this strategy, I think keeping a super affordable SE model as well is a nice 4 iphone line up. I could see the mini going away for awhile unless/until there are major improvements in battery tech. But as hard as it for me to say as a small phone lover that's the other one that could go. SE, iphone, iphone max

The pros are just crushin it. Your iPhone is such a part of your life now that you have to have apples latest and greatest

Nah, sales of iPhone are going to be down YOY. The pros aren’t going to make up for the lack of base model upgrades. Watch and see! Sell your stock before the next earnings call.

D'uh, most of the upgrades are hidden within the "pro" model. The 14 base model is just a more or less reskinned 13. I wanted to change to Apple, but those tactics rather scare me off.

I would have liked usb c but after thinking about it I very rarely use cables for my iPhone. 99.9% of the time it charges on MagSafe and the last time I used a wire to transfer anything off my iPhone was when I had my iPhone 4s about 10 years ago! Only time I need a lightening cable is to charge when away from home and it’s easy enough just to pack a lightening cable. I get that for some people usb c is preferable/needed but again I can get away with it in my circumstances until I upgrade my iPhone 14PM circa 2025!

This was to be expected, IMO, as there are very few differences between iPhone 13 and 14 6.1” models and the former now costs 100$ less. iPhone 14 Plus can still sell for big screen affectionados, but the numbers will probably be quite similar to 12-13 mini sales.

The iPhone SE 3 did make the list though in 7th place, so there is a sizeable niche market for smaller iphones. The Samsung A53 5G is cheaper than the SE, and has a much larger screen with more cameras etc, but the SE still sold more units.
