Didn’t they just release a commercial promoting this? That’s confusing and doesn’t make sense if this is true

So Apple was wrong
Yes, which is why they are discounting it so they can use a better, more durable non-leather material. Assuming the same production processes, a more durable case is better for the environment.

But let's try it this way. What was it about Apple discontinuing the finewoven material made you say "So environment be dammed?" when cases with poor durability are bad for the environment."

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Kosutami explained that Apple has stopped production of FineWoven accessories due to its poor durability. The company may move to another non-leather material for its premium accessories in the future.
Given all the non leather materials available this selection of the overpriced FineWoven will be laughed at for years.

My Spigen one for my iPhone 11 Pro lasted 3 years before I got my 15 Pro, do you chew on them?

Same here. I've given away ones when I upgraded and the old ones still looked great after a few years. They ae th best value for non=letaher cases, IMHO.

Should’ve just used regular vegan fabric / faux leather instead.

You mean plastic, right, because that is what goes into those materials. Vegan leather just sounds better than vinyl.

No reason to wear our tools in murdered organisms, we as a species are already far ahead of Stone Age. Or at least I hope so.

While things like PLA and PET/PETG and other bio based, plant organism murdering, plastics can be used, petrochemical variants such as PVC and PU are probably used more for durability reasons. Even bio-based ones can use various chemicals in the processing.

Well my iPhone 14 PM doesn’t have a case and has the scratches and dents to prove it. However no way Apple tested this fine woven material and said yeah it’s good to go with no worry.

I wonder if it is possible to make a case from wood and if it people liked it. Wood is renewable resource. They could even sell elite engraved oak cases. Sue thickness might be questionable, but what if new manufacturing tech makes it possible🤔

Bamboo might be a better choice.
Much lighter and faster growing.

Leather, btw, is a renewable resource.
Native Americans were exemplars at using all of a Bison.

Cases made from pressed hemp or bamboo would be ideal, but even still there would probably be a synthetic inner liner to improve durability and shock protection.
