I know FineWoven has its issues, and I'm totally aware of the completely horrible condition some people's cases have worn to. I've got a FineWoven case and a FineWoven magnetic link watchband that seem to be holding up pretty well, but my stuff is kept in pretty controlled environments.

Anyone hoping that Apple will bring back leather doesn't understand the rules of the game. Absolutely zero likelihood of them rowing back on that. And honestly their latter cases sucked anyway. iPhone 12 onwards they were plastic coated junk. Most leather fans moved on a long time ago so it's no real loss.

Still don't get it why people don't just buy a $10 cover from a third party that lasts the entire lifespan of the phone. Is the Apple logo on the back of the case that important?

The Apple cases feel great in a way that 3rd party cases do not.
I have been buying Apple cases (leather, then finewoven, not silicone) since they started, whereas my GF chooses some random 3rd party case that catches her fancy, and, IMHO, the Apple cases are just so much nicer. Feel good in the hand, thinner and lighter, small details that are barely noticed but matter (like how the buttons feel), and are well worth the price.

As for Finewoven, I don't know. Maybe other people treat their cases really badly, or often get them wet or something?
Maybe I'll be singing a different tune in a year, but after, what, 6 months or so of use I still love my Finewoven case. It feels even better in the hand than the leather case, and I see no signs of degradation.

I don’t have any experience with the Finewoven cases, but my Finewoven watch band is very nice, and seems quite durable. I’ve had it since launch, and it still looks brand new. I’m disappointed to see it discontinued.

The fine woven price is the only problem. If it were sold at 60 or 50% of the price no one would complain.

People open the package and scratch it with their fingernails to test it. Surprise: it scratches! Duh! But leather also would have been scratched using the same method.

Again the price is the only real problem. It’s too expensive for what it is.

FineWoven aside..

I get all my silicone & leather cases from ebay from overseas
They seem to come off the exact same factory line for 1/9th the cost -- which is about what they are worth

Additionally, there tend to be colors and options that were never offered by Apple -- even better!

The one "legit" Apple OEM case I had didn't last any longer or better than the knockoffs.

Apple cases = straight rip off, if you ask me

I don’t understand comments like these lol people know there are other options out there. they want Apple’s offering. the case isn’t $1,000,000. if it’s not killing someone or making them poor, let them be. 🤷‍♂️

My Midnight Leather wallet held up fine overall, save for the rubber sides that completely let go. As I was looking for a replacement I saw a pretty yellow Leather old stock. However I found on the Patina Proud forum that this color fades quickly. I guess Leather is great as long as you get natural or dark colours? This could definitely be improved upon with another material.

Not going to happen because that would be much more expensive, and it would even be more embarrassing than Apple quietly discontinuing a product.

Also, I wonder what the environmental impact differences between natural leather and whatever plastic Apple used when it comes to manufacturing these cases and their end of life at a landfill. I suspect natural leather would be much more environmentally friendly. I wonder if the plastic Apple used isn’t so bad because they designed it to deteriorate rather than around forever. That could be causing the durability issue, but that’s just speculation on my part. These cases might be just as bad as other plastic items.
Well, that “Natural leather” was still wrapped around a plastic shell. That’s hardly recyclable.
