Can someone explain how this is the "slowest growth" ever? I'm lost. 77.8 million iPhone's sold?

It's how you put a negative spin on an increase in sales. It's just the smallest year-over-year increase.

It's like when an Olympic athlete wins a gold medal, but doesn't beat their own best time (perhaps even a world record set in some previous race), and so the sports reporter disregards the gold medal and sticks a microphone in the athlete's face and asks if they're disappointed they didn't beat their own record.

Not bad at all. Not massive growth for iPhone sales but at least it wasn't a decline. The iPad and iPod have been on the decline for years so no surprises there.

I can't wait to see all the Apple are doomed headlines.

The iPad Pro bigger than Mac? I do not see that in the data. You must surely mean the iPad platform and not only the iPad Pro that I was referring to.
iPad as a whole. We don't know the mix as Apple doesn't say.

If you remove iPhone, how does the revenue / profit compare to other big tech companies like Google or Microsoft?

I know without the iPhone... Apple would still be #54 on the Fortune 500 in terms of profit.

And with the iPhone... you know... they're the biggest company in the world. ;)

Not sure about other tech giants.

Ah, okay, I understand. I think!! Thanks.

Smallest improvement over previous quarters. A new high is great, but when it's such a small increase people wonder if the next quarter will be a drop. Numbers like that look like they're reaching a plateau.

Take iPhone out of the equation and apple isn't apple and only making 32% of what they're currently doing. I'm afraid to invest in apple since one product is 68% of their business.
It's still a huge business, though. Apple Watch appears to be generating about $2 billion per quarter now. Mac sales are still good. iPad sales are slowing down, but as a whole the "other" businesses are holding their own.

Got a notification a few minutes ago on my iPhone from BBC: "Apple reports slowest iPhone sales Growth since 2007 launch"

I'll give it to them, that's a great way to make spin it into a dramatic negative and generate hits.

Or there's an economic downturn.

Just shows that Apple would be almost nothing without their iPhone line. iPad sales are down, no one is buying the watch (yet) and iPods are even more obsolete.
They would make like 6 billion in profit without the iPhone, in 3 months. That's not "nothing"

They've already started! It's funny to see these two articles within minutes of each other, both with totally different angles.

So,,, please tell me why the Base Model on all iPhones should start at 32gb? Why would they do that? That would be Business Suicide. Cost them a quarter to higher the Storage from 16gb to 64gb,,, costs you 100 dollars. They increase base storage,,, NOBODY buys anything else... Don't like it,,, tell the 75 Million people to stop making the 16gb base model the NUMBER 1 purchase,,,,,, not even close and tell them to buy something else,, force the hand of Apple,,,, Until then,,, 16gb will always be base and if you want more,,, open your wallet

That 32% is still making more profits than 100% of Google though.

So the media writes shocking headlines to get people to read the article... thinking that their readers love bad news about Apple.

But the readers read the article and find that Apple had another monster record-breaking quarter.

At what point do the readers get fed up with this media nonsense?
