"It's a bit heavier"

"It's a bit warmer"

What a moaning, self centred, weak generation we are.

It's completely embarressing.

People fought wars so you could be holding that iPad.

Grow a pair and get on with it, you're a blessed person to even have an iPad in your hands.

If it's too warm and heavy, go make a cooler lighter one, see how far you get.

This isn't troubling because it's a little bit hotter, it's troubling because this might be the start of a bad trend.

Many of you may not be old enough to remember but computers even as late as the first pentium used to just have heat sinks on the chip. Well, heat spreaders I guess they are called, they didn't need fans.

Then Intel starting cranking up the performance, and soon you had these small fans. Then giant fans. And then we had laptops with scorchingly hot cases.

One of the major benefits (and to me 'magical properties') of the iPad was that it is doing so much in a case cool to the touch and never got warm.

Just being 'warm' isn't bad, but it isn't as good as cool.

Does this mean the next iPad will be even warmer? Apple has consistently shown they will make cases thinner at the expense of heat (as evidenced by my older Macbook Pro (super hot!), my wife's two Macbook Airs (The first gen got so hot it would throttle itself to uselessness), and to a lesser extent my iMac.

If the iPad slowly turns into a torch, it will ruin the magic.

I hope this is as far as they push it. Hopefully switching to better LTE chips and smaller nanometer manufacturing processes in future iPads can get this back to staying cool to the touch.

This this this this this!

People are weak anymore, its unreal. I have friends who complain when we go to a store because I park far away and make their fat asses walk.

Not to mention the countless "My product x is overheating" (even though its really not or it would have shut itself off) threads. Blah!

If people don't like their iPad 3's give it to me, I'll gladly take it.

I've been using mine almost nonstop since I got it Saturday morning. I've been playing games, watching movies, reading books, pretty much everything people do with their iPads. I haven't noticed the slightest bit of heat.

and what is your brightness set at?

Some people just love to complain. Pretty sure my iPhone 4 gets warmer than this iPad has on me and I've pushed the iPad pretty hard more than a few times already. Whiners.

Hottest it got was during the iCloud restore while I was watching a video and that was still much cooler than my Macbook Air. I think people have been spoiled by the previous iPad's having almost no perceptible heat. (Why aren't they complaining about iPhones, they get much hotter.)

You don't really need to make it yourself. You can just buy a cooler and lighter tablet (like Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7).

My new iPad runs cooler than my 4S, and the 4S gets hotter in my pocket just from body heat than it ever does when in actual use. Either there are a small number of defective units out there, or the world has gone nuts and will obsess over everything.

Fair point.

My point was more specific to the iPad though.

Like, if you want the new iPad but lighter and cooler, try making one yourself and see how far you get.

:)

Keep it up children . I'm loving all these one-liners from spoiled brats.

Get real.

If you don't like something take it back. Don't go on to some tabloid board like MR and whine about it. Perpetuating the exaggerated misinformation you read.

My iPhone 4s gets hotter then crap when it can't get a good signal to the cell tower and I try to download a webpage over crappy connection. I personally don't see the big deal, but that's just me. Now the original AppleTV got hot beyond a reasonable temp and was an issue.
