Thermally throttles. The iMac 27" is a fine machine. And the iMac Pro is a fine machine as well.

Good luck with that. The HP Z6 with an older processor and a HDD costs $6K.Will do. I bet it'll cost WAY less than six grand to. No apple tax.
Promise Pegasus R4i 32TB RAID MPX Module Kit
I am hoping, probably irrationally, that Apple will eventually show some love to users who want a non-AIO Apple hardware option between the Mini and this new beast. I don't expect that the Apple beancounters will be able to see past the "OMG, that would kill iMac sales" argument, so we likely won't ever see one.It is nice and all, I guess, but they should have announced a "mini Pro" too that is a smaller version of that thing with half the slots at $2999.

That monitor is just…what were they thinking?
For all the Apple noobs out there, here are the 1993 Quadra prices
Can everyone please stop with the cheese grater comments!
It’s clearly designed after a urinal grate because, you know, you have to keep it cool somehow.
Plus to keep the butts out. Just needs a white puck mouse & it’s all set.
Not exactly a great example considering this is from the time period when Apple was basically murdering itself. If you want to celebrate the John Sculley years, go right ahead, but you'll be alone.

And at that price it would still be a steal if it delivers on color accuracy. A perfectly accurate 24" Sony monitor runs $23,400: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/758921-REG/Sony_BVM_E250_BVM_E250_Trimaster_EL_OLED.htmlThey created the best monitor ever made, by far. That's what they were thinking.
This is exactly what I have been waiting for! Only problem is it might take me up to a year to afford it.
To me, it looks more like a commitment to rip of the customers. While the price of the released model may be justified for some users, the problem is that Apple released only one model. Now, for desktops, we have underpowered Mini and overpowered (for most) Pro. Most users would probably prefer something in between. The only option they have is an AIO which is a suboptimal solution for most professionals. Companies like HP and Dell offer a range of workstations that start from as low as $500.The commitment demonstrated by Apple is readily apparent with this release, and is far from just shoving something out the door. I’d say they’re about 90% of the way there.
No front panel port: if you want to plug in headphones...
I like the interior of this thing but not crazy about the exterior. Speaking from a practicality perspective.
Steve would have made this much more affordable (and to cheers) for the mid-range pro user with more pro tiers to go up.
Pretty funny, and deserved. That collective groan with the price of the stand lol
So Apples will sell the CPUs so we can upgrade the MacPro later? What about the GPU?
A nice machine, but so over-engineered that it will be unaffordable for many.
