Thanks.It has a glass back.
Glass back is a double edged sword. Wireless charging is probably worth the risk of breakage, as someone who has made the switch away from having to plug in every night. I just wish all my electronics went wireless.

This phone costs more then 4 other models which do have 3D Touch and two of which have a higher resolution screen![]()
As someone who has an OLED, I agree that it's very overhyped. I would frankly rather have a high quality LCD and not have to worry about burn in and fading. I may be in the minority, the only place I've really like OLED was outside where its brighter than my old LCD (although those have improved as well). My phone is a Note 9 for reference.I still do think they’re the same thing. What’s the difference?
I’m really liking the XR. I don’t care about OLED. I don’t object to the price. I love the colours (I want the red one). I’m not seeing what the XS offers that’s worth another third of the price.
But Face ID — can I bear to part with Touch ID?
iPhone 8 plus has dual camera. (just saying)Cheaper than an 8 Plus, that’s great value in my book.
Totally agree with you about it being a hit. Almost no one is going to care about the screen tech in real life. Yes, the OLED pops a little more when it's directly next to an LCD, but it's pretty minor difference. And this is a reasonable price for a bigger, faster phone than people's old iPhone. Sure, it isn't terribly exciting, but it's a new, better, iPhone. This will sell like crazy.I'm probably in the minority here but I think the XR will be a hit. Not everyone wants or cares about OLED; I personally much prefer the LCD screen on my 7 compared to my wife's X. The XR will be a nice upgrade for me; faster FaceID, all the new internals of the XS, better battery life than the 8Plus, a 6 inch screen with the same PPI as my 7 and still in a decently sized body (hopefully single hand use is good) and a great single-lens camera. The 128GB is also the sweet spot for me, 64 is kinda small and for my use I'd never need 256.
The only negative for me is the late October availability but it makes sense for Apple to do that, get as many impulse buyers on the XS as possible.
The prices are scandalous. Liquid Retina, just a fancy name for an average display...
Yep. Colours weren’t enough to make XR owners feel like crap, they had to kill something else people loved as well.
What's cheap about it? It's a big phone, it's all screen, it has the latest greatest mobile SoC on the market with the A12, it charges wirelessly, and looks great.

You're just seeing the Apple hater effect I think. What's not to like about this? Sure, I suppose it could have had a little better resolution, but I would bet no one will complain about it in real life. And, if I'm wrong and it has a noticeably poorer screen than other Apple LCD displays, shame on Apple for being cheap. 699 would be great, yeah, but 749 is ok for getting what will be the mainstream iPhone.I'm really glad so many of you hate this phone so I won't have any trouble pre-ordering it next month.
The XR seems like a nice transition from an iPhone 7/8. I just really hope it doesn't use PWM.
The SoC is great. It’s everything else that is the problem. Inferior resolution, no 3D Touch, inferior camera. I have to wait for the entire specs to be released before I pass final judgment of course but it is underwhelming. I don’t see why most would choose the XR instead of a discounted 8 or 8 Plus or even a discounted original NIB X over the XR unless they don’t want to be seen with the “old” design.
Way to just ignore all the benefits like there aren't any. This phone is using all the X 2.0 tech (A12, Face ID, Camera). The only real trade-offs are what you mentioned and LCD instead of OLED, and one camera instead of two. The PPI isn't a big deal because 326 is still respectable (and the same as the iPhone 8), and 3D touch may or may not matter to you. It's not used by most people, and even if you do use it, it's not an essential feature.
And again, these trade-offs come at the benefit of $250 less than the regular X. You just have to ask yourself if $250 is worth it for OLED, an extra camera, and 3D Touch. It may be. But if not, $250 is a serious savings.
RainbowAnyone have a clue what the "r" in iPhone Xr means? Nothing special with the liquid retina that lacks 3D Touch so any other theories?
It's not an inferior camera. It's the same X 2.0 tech, there's just one camera instead of two. Still has all the new bells and whistles. Resolution is less, but still totally acceptable (same as iPhone 8). This is NOT the flagship. This is a step below. It is also priced $250 below.
It's "cheaper than the 8 Plus" says Phil... yes, but more expensive than the iPhone 8 it really replaces. So once again, Apple hikes the prices across the board...
None of what you mentioned are benefits, it runs a bit faster, so?
None of what you mentioned are benefits, it runs a bit faster, so? So will next years model and the one after that and so in, Face ID is seen as some as a backwards step and the camera is a single lens, lacks the dual lens setup.
Still Apple seem to have removed 3D Touch from the iPhone 7 now, it’s not in the tech specs anymore:

Perhaps they did it to avoid embarrassing the XR anymore then they needed to?

Apple doesn't seem to think so since the Xs and Xs Max is over 400 PPI.Over 300ppi is enough, going over 400 its just waste of battery.
