I would consider trading my Series 2 in for the cellular series 3 version if AT&T/Best Buy/WalMart ran some deal where you could trade in your series 2 and maybe pay $99 for the series 3 and put it on your plan.
What's the odds that someone may do that?

There's not a whole lot of reason to buy a new one out right for me. Sure the LTE would be nice when in the gym so I could leave my phone in the car or at home, or at Six Flags I could leave the phone in the car and not worry about it.

You don't have to be a rocket surgeon to see that the series 2 is being deprecated for the series 3 although the series 1 is being kept as a low cost option. Here's the thing though. This means that a LOT of series 2's will be dumped onto BestBye like last year. The GPS version of the 3 is only a modest improvement over the 2 which makes the 2 a reasonable choice at a huge discount!
What happened last year with BestBuy? Did they run some type of trade in deal? I might consider trading in my Series 3 if the deal is right

I've heard professional athletes swear by Polar due to accuracy and experience in the industry for that reason. Garmin is another one but I'm sure the Vivomove HR is good for those in any sport. I would feel better using either of these devices instead of the Fitbit or Apple Watch. If I'm not mistaken, the Garmin health app seems more deeper than any other there, probably close to the Apple version. Fitbit is supposedly well done and streamlined but not deep enough and too 'social' for me.

For a hardcore athlete, they're better off with dedicated devices like Garmin or Polar.
I've had both Garmin & Polar, there are both good, with good software. Garmin have improved since I had it I think. Don't like Apple Health at all.

Fitbit is not appealing to me neither. Think both Polar and Garmin have more trainings experience with their equipments and software. With professionals as well.
Too bad for AW3, I had hoped for it, for a better sync experience with other stuff.

But battery time is what comes 1st. Vivomore HR is a good looking watch. Have to call to hear when exactly it becomes for sale. If soon, I have a problem to choose between Polar A370 and that. I also get an extra armband for free right now if I choose A370. It's probably more effective for training & sleep tracking then Vivomove HR.
But then I've had a Forerunner earlier also, was pleased with it then.
The software don't really differentiate them.

I would rather just call on my phone I don’t get making calls on a watch

No, it's for special use cases such as:
1. going for a jog and staying connected to receive texts instead of carrying your phone around
2. apps requiring live data usage where a phone would be unnecessary, like Apple Pay, Yelp check-in, etc.
3. for me specifically, I would rather my teenage kids have this phone instead of a phone because it gives me peace of mind without the distraction/dangers of a full featured phone

I think the red dots look really bad, like design-ruiningly-bad, but good luck to anyone who likes it. Nothing about these new models makes me regret buying my Series 2 earlier this year, so thanks for that Apple! :D

I assume that Apple did not mention LTE plan pricing because that is going to be left up to the carriers.

Verizon charges $5/month for the LTE watches from Samsung/LG, and the Verizon customer service rep said that will most likely be the same for the Apple Watch. She said she couldn't say for sure until the pre-orders go up on Friday. I personally won't mind paying that, but not much more.

I will probably be picking up a 42mm black stainless. My wife has been pretty happy with her Series 2 I bought her for mother's day, so I think I will end up liking this. WiFi only is of no use to me since the WiFi at work is locked down and I wouldn't be able to get on it with my phone and watch. With LTE I should be able to get calls/texts on my phone if I leave my phone at my desk.

I'm not a huge fan of the red dot on the crown. I imagine someone will end up making stickers to cover it up and I'll probably be buying one ASAP.

I never make calls from my watch, but I do take them sometimes. Such as when my phone is upstairs and I'm not. Or when I'm in the kitchen cooking or washing up and my hands are covered with something I don't want on my phone.

I can see it being handy in an emergency while out on a run though, as I leave my phone home. Need to be able to set do-not-disturb so I don't get any calls though. :)

I may finally buy an Apple watch. I see on the website the watch with the Air pods which implies bluetooth connectivity. Can someone verify that it does? And if so, can I pair it to my car stereo / hands free device? If so...time to buy

Has that been published anywhere? LTE for my iPad is about $10/mos and I can take calls through that too. Any reason to think that the AW will be more expensive?

I called ATT, said it was $25 activation fee and then $10 a month and first 6 months free! :)

Yes, Apple Watch has always had bluetooth as that's how it communicates with your phone. I would hope that it will bluetooth into your car so you can use it like you do with your phone when making calls...don't see why it wouldn't work?

I'm hopeful that carriers will provide nice promotions for the new series 3 apple watch if you upgrade to the new iPhones.
;)o_O

Another question for potential 3G purchase -

What happens if you resell your watch? Will it be possible to associate the software sim with a new phone number?

With Samsung - do their watches have a physical sim?

Just curious.

Did I miss something during keynote? What’s the red for on the Digital Crown? Is it just for aesthetics?

If they made it red *just* so people can make sure other people know they have a Series 3, that's ridiculous. At the very most they should have made the silver one's crown space gray and the space gray one silver. What is Ive thinking these days.

I genuinely thought it was a neat LED for discreet notifications. That, I would be down for. As long as it wasn't red lol.

Will UK networks support this now....i hope so, then the Samsung S3 Frontier will work with its eSim too.

Hope this kicks UK networks up the ass

Looks like only on EE at launch. I briefly saw it on the keynote.
I was going to change network....now I don't think I can.

I thought the watch was the most exciting part of the event and I'm looking very forward to upgrading my original.

I'm curious what the up charge is going to be to use the cellular features, but the idea that I can leave my phone behind in a lot of circumstances is VERY appealing.

And I think this time I am going to get one of the stainless steel models. I don't foresee upgrading this device all that often.
