What Apple has done is the equivalent of releasing a Leica camera into a market dominated by smartphone cameras. I'm sure the ergonomics of AppleVision Pro will prove to be a spectacular differentiator, and will define the high end of the market for the foreseeable future. And just as there are Panasonic cameras with nearly all the Leica functionality but just a few small corners cut -- allowing a far lower price -- there will soon enough be AppleVision Air variants of the headset that will be fine for most AR/VR users.

"One more thing" falls a bit flat without the audience...
Exactly. While I’m in love with these glasses, I’m still bitter they dared announced them without an audience. If it was a brand new product, it HAD to be a major in person event. People in the audience would’ve gone nuts and that’s one of the things that made keynotes so special.

At least tim pulled the one more thing in the theatre like the good old times. At least he respected that.

You haven’t really followed Apple stock for nearly long enough. The stock almost always gets a small boost just before an event and falls a bit after it finishes. And every time, there’s someone saying the stock is falling because the keynote flopped. Nothing new here.
this has not changed in decades.

The technology and pricing isn’t there yet for mainstream adoption. In a few years, the negative replies here will age as badly as the iPod/iPhone/iPad/Apple Watch naysayers comments did.

I don't think anyone is doubting the technology and the future potential, but the product as is, is a little ridiculous. Give me these in a pair of glasses that last multiple days, and I'm all in. I am sure that is their end goal, and I have no desire to buy into this version of the product.

I'm with probably a little over half the crowd here. It certainly looks impressive, but it's a computer for your face. It's not something we needed. If it becomes an immersive gaming and movie experience, that's one thing. But to just use it as a potential computer replacement is a little bit insane. I do think it looks good though, the eyes are a bit creepy though...

The Apple Watch says to get more sunlight and the ipad says the screen is too close. What will they think of strapping the Vision Pro to the face?

And to anyone saying VR, this is AR and considering the power inside the machine, 3500 is not that crazy. Obviously it is crazy, you are better off spending this money on a holiday, but considering this is an Apple product... it's not that crazy, they sell $2K phones...

Just ordered a second Mac Studio Ultra, pretty good deal considering the power consumption.

These are nice but VERY expensive. They are a lot like the Microsoft Lenses, makes me wonder if they partner somehow to bring these to the public. So far I have only seen MS Lenses with the military.

This, along with neural interfacing is the future of computing. We are still far away in terms of form factor, flexibility and price. But I’m quite sure if someone is going to take things towards the right direction it is Apple.
With this, more companies will most likely invest in technology that will support these kinds of platforms. And I am sure that we will start to see a new era of VR/AR devices, now no longer in a gaming centric category.

Personally, outside of the flight movie experience I didn’t find any of the use cases for this device particularly interesting. But I hope to get convinced when it ships.

Gee, all these people complaining about a new and exciting headset. There are cheaper options. I use a PSVR2 at home myself. It's great. Nobody is forced to buy this product. Just because there are cars out there that cost more than I am willing to spend doesn't mean those are junk. Some people just LOVE to be outraged about everything 🙄

Just a thought. Would the eyes projection allow you to fall asleep on jury duty Homer Simpson style?

I think this is opening new doors for new generations of this product be more and more compact to the point we'll be able to use it outdoors and everywhere. Apple planted the seed today, let it grow. A great, great product, indeed.

Opening new doors for the rich kids with their mac pros. Not us poor folk still sporting M1 Airs.

Probably, like the iphone and apple watch...this needs another couple of generation to be a magnificent device
Except the iPhone was an instant hit. Never before could you do so many things on the move that easily, whenever you needed it, wherever you needed it. It was something everyone knew was revolutionary.

Apple Vision Pro solves no problem at all: You can browse the web, run your 2D apps, watch your mostly 2D movies, play your 2D games (with a console controller!!) on a private screen. Wooooow. It is an impressive tech demonstration but has the worst (as in NONE) idea/vision of a 3D platform of any manufacturer. They completely dropped the ball on this one.
