At least tim pulled the one more thing in the theatre like the good old times. At least he respected that.

Yes, but the way he said it was like fan service.

"Do you remember 'one more thing'?! Do you remember the good old days when we used to have a CEO who was charismatic, knowledgeable, and involved enough to do the keynotes live?!"

I notice that in the presentation the device can easily track gestures even when the hands are relaxed on the thighs. I am concerned that it will think I have 3 hands and get confused as to which ones to track. And what happens if one of my hands keeps overlapping and moving back and forth on one of the hands?

Even though I have hand tracking turned on, there are never unintended hand gestures in the Quest 2, because it's kind of dumb and you have to put your hands in front of you and be very deliberate about gestures, whereas my hands are usually much, much lower when I use the device for my daily cardio.

On the other hand, the clear front or AR aspect is a distinct advantage over the Quest for when you need to grab tissues and such.

I missed a lot of the Vision Pro presentation when they were going over Developers and specialized apps.

Did P***hub display their app?...uhhhh....asking for a friend.

No, it's not, it's the same terrible, clunky VR we've had for a decade.

I wanted the dystopian always on AR experience that overlays directly with the world around you. It would've been scary, but at least useful and interesting.

This is going to flop the same way all other VR attempts have flopped.

Did you even watch the presentation? What you described is exactly what Vision Pro is capable of.

I'm super impressed by (and not surprised by) Apple's thoughtfulness about the EyeSight feature that allows those on the outside of the headset have a more natural interaction with the wearer. Doesn't that alone set this headset apart from all previous attempts? The awkwardness of being in the same space as someone wearing a VR headset goes away instantly with that feature.

It is the start of the Matrix….there will be people who will not want to disconnect when Vision Pro goes online.

I've been buying Apple products since the 1980's.... I'm a HUGE Apple fan. My whole ecosystem is Apple.

But the delusion of some people on these forums is just mind-blowing.

"This is going to destroy the big tv and projector market" - People like to watch TV and movies together.

"Will absolutely crush any Quest model at gaming" - That would require actual good games for this. At a price-point gamers (mostly late-teens and 20's) can afford for a device.
I think it is cute that you think most gamers are in their 20s.

I think both those examples are thinking too much inside the box. They’re talking about a new form of computing all together.

This is a great product. I am not going to get most likely but I see where it is going - straight to the future. Negative reactions here are rather proximal and are akin the reception of the first iPhone and iPad. Well, time will put everything in its place. Great job, Apple!

I started to say you‘re doing Disney wrong, but it sounds like you’re doing it right, I mean luxurious. Congrats. But I assure you a family of 5, my wife and I plus our 3 kids do Disney MUCH cheaper than you. But again, congrats. 😂
I don't even think we did anything that terribly luxurious. We stayed at a Disney property, and that was by far the most expensive element of the trip, but even just park passes for 3 days, and then a day at Typhoon Lagoon ended up being almost $1500. Add in meals, drinks, things kids want to buy, etc. It's going to cost a lot more than $3500. While we had a great time, and we recognize that we're quite fortunate to be able to do this, it really feels like Disney isn't even accessible by the middle class anymore.

And to anyone saying VR, this is AR and considering the power inside the machine, 3500 is not that crazy. Obviously it is crazy, you are better off spending this money on a holiday, but considering this is an Apple product... it's not that crazy, they sell $2K phones...

Just ordered a second Mac Studio Ultra, pretty good deal considering the power consumption.

Since you’re not looking at the world directly but instead through cameras and a screen, this IS still VR for all practical purposes. AR is an overlay, not a window over a camera image projected on a screen that you stare at.

At first glance, Apple appears to have taken the already well known use cases for VR and done a very good job of them.

Is that why current VR headsets haven’t taken off?

Wow color me disappointed to say the least. It's just a glorified Quest, sure the specs are much better but it's also 10x the price. I didn't see a SINGLE use that any other existing VR headset couldn't do. I also only saw the intro from Apple, they didn't mention any AR features at all, is there another presentation on AR? I had high hopes for this, but as is it's going to flop HARD.
What in the world are you talking about? There were AR features ALL over the place, more so than VR features.
