If the specs of the screens are true to form then one huge big advantage of this headset being portable is the ability of people to have movies or TV programs streamed to the headset because all they would need is to connect to a wifi hotspot. Sport will be a big pull for many people. The thought of being able to watch their favourite sport or favourite team where ever they are and have it in good visual and sound quality. There are millions of people who travel from place to place for work and in doing so do not always have access to a TV thus missing out on their favourite programs. No longer do they need to sit in front of a small laptop screen anymore, carry a Vison headset and watch the program in 4k!!! now THAT is going to be a big draw for people in wanting a Vision Pro.
Also for people going skiing on their way up to the slope

Like I said, for a task that you can already do.
I’m not sure about the USA market, but here in the U.K. you can get a very good and big TV/surround sound for £3,500. It probably will last longer than an Apple Vision headset, and your other family members and friends can see it as well.
I agree. I don't really see exactly what their target is, especially with that price and the very short battery life, I don't think it'll sell very well. I bet only the tech YouTubers would be interested or maybe just some incredibly wealthy people who don't mind spending their money on such things. But overall it's just a niche product that can do almost nothing new and only leads to more isolation from the real world than we already are with our phones.
It may improve in the future and maybe become more common though since this is like only the 1st generation, who knows. Most people hated the idea of a touch screen on a phone when the first iPhone was announced and were complaining about how it was missing the hardware keyboard. But now basically everyone uses them, even the old people who aren't really interested in modern tech.

Yeah it's basically the anti-thesis of everything Jobs stood for

He was always about fostering creativity

He knew about human values and the importance of human connection

He was always about accelerating humanity

He wouldn't go for this thing - a piece of control perfectly suited to societies depicted in "A brave new world" and "1984" and "Ready Player One".
To be fair though, Apple has been going against Jobs' ideas for quite a while now, so I'm not very surprised.

I don't think he would approve of four iPhone models since he was very known as a guy who liked simplicity. Literally the first thing he did after he came back to Apple in 1997 was removing more than 90% of the products Apple was making at that time. He would definitely consider four iPhone models too many.

I don't think he would like the notch on the iPhones either, or even the MacBooks now. It'd mostly look like just an ugly design to him.

Not to mention The Apple Pencil, remember his famous "Who needs a stylus !?"

I don't think he would approve of the size of the current iPhones either, especially the Plus/Pro Max size. It was known that he preferred small phones, which is the main reason why iPhones have been really small in size compared to Android phones years ago for quite a while.

And if Apple ever decided to give Macs a touchscreen support, he would absolutely hate that. He literally once called the idea of a touchscreen on a laptop "ergonomically terrible".

And now this Vision Pro headset.. yeah I'm pretty sure he would hate that too.

Many members across multiple threads on the Vison Pro keep using the same argument about one of the reasons why it will fail is that it creates 'loneliness' or 'individual separation' when it comes to watching TV programs on the families TV. Haven't these people ever come across the very common situation where one or maybe two people are watching a program on the main TV and others are watching a different program on their laptop of tablet device or gone to their own room that has a TV in it because they do not want to watch what is on the homes main TV? Not everyone likes the same program because we all have different likes. A person can be sitting in the living room with their family with the headset on watching their program whilst the rest of the family are watching what they want on the homes main TV.

Apple Vision Pro solves no problem at all: You can browse the web, run your 2D apps, watch your mostly 2D movies, play your 2D games (with a console controller!!) on a private screen.
You can do all the above on a tiny iPhone screen, on a 12.9" iPad Pro screen, on a 32" 4K screen for now, but 200", 300", 500" virtual screen without taking up one mm thick of your space?

Does anyone actually use AR? It seems like a gimmick. Like 3D TV’s, or folding phones… I mean would you really put that thing on your head every day… or just use your phone?
I'll buy it day one and get rid of my 3 32" displays for my coding work.
After work, I may ware it to watch show on a 200" screen with spatial sound effect.

Every nursing home in the country could have one. It could bring pleasure to many who no longer have the luxury of getting out and about to see the outside which as result affects their metal health and overall well being. How good would it be for the nursing staff to slip on one of these headsets to a resident so they could experience a virtual garden or lake or seaside and to hear the sounds of such, water running through a brook, waves crashing on the beach, birds singing in the garden. Such a thing would lighten up their world, for those that wanted to try it of course.

Being portable and with the right app's written for it, it could be used as a training tool for the police, firefighters, medics, the armed forces.

The thing is though, people need to stop and think that the reason the majority of this was not made for existing VR devices is because those devices did not have screens that produced good quality images and thus the perception was people would not be interested in seeing poor quality images whereas now with the Vison Pro, they do which now opens up a huge amount of possibilities. I bet there are already developers out there wishing to get their hands on one so they can start developing their ideas.

Show me Apple's take on the metaverse; AppleLink VR, vrWorld, or what have you. Show me game demos and fitness apps that highlight moving around in a virtual environment. Show me apps that redefine and not duplicate a traditional workspace. Be different
None of those make metaverse any success.
Like the iPhone, this show teaches all the others what AR device is used for.

First off, you must not code for long when you work, because if you did you would not want to wear this thing for 7-8 hours a day. Secondly, you do realize that long term daily use of this headset will cause you all sorts of issues, eyesight issues for starters, if you were to wear it for multiple hours a day, 5-7 days a week. You do realize this, don't you?

Every nursing home could have one of these, really? So one out of fifty to one hundred people (or more) get to use it a couple of times a year. I don't think so. 90% of nursing homes aren't ever going to touch this thing. Remember, these are $3,499 a piece, without any extras.

I will take it off about 1 or 2 hours into it, the same as of now I'll move my ass off for a walk, drink, smoking, etc.
I don't envision any issues, and I don't think you know any better than me.

Your just being negative for negative sake. All you do is follow every thread about the Vison Pro and rubbish everything positive about it.

If Apple can bring prices down and make it a true replacement to iPhone then it will change the world. And that's the terrifying part
How can it replace iPhone? Why do you ware it day long going anywhere for that? I prefer leaving my iPhone on table since I got my Watch with me.
I will buy it day one because:
1. I can't justify 6000$ for a 120" poor quality TV.
2. I can't justify 3000$ x3 for three 32" mini LED or OLED display.
3. I can have several high resolution vertical, narrow screen for my code sessions, in addition to dozen horizontal screens for other tasks.
4, 5, 6....

I hope others here understand that this headset is an entire standalone computer with its own restricted ecosystem. Can you receive video and HID input from devices outside of this ecosystem?
Did you watch the keynote video?
Apple TV+, Apple Arcade Game, Bluetooth game controller, keyboard, mouse, airplay.
Continuity handover from any apps running on Mac, iPhone, iPad.

I don't sit in front of my computer 8-10 hours without moving my ass. You can just remove it for drink, smoking or eating.
You don't have to remove it to chat with your colleagues, just turn your head to face them and all the virtual things fade d out to the background, not really different from what your mind do in the same situation.

I wouldn’t be sat around people wearing it in any case. It’s unnecessary really. When someone approaches your desk and wants a conversation where you have to show them documents, CAD models on a screen, it’s a bit weird or difficult with a single headset I’d imagine. I don’t think this sort of product is aimed at that sort of user though and it’s for those who work in solitary conditions.

What I want to know is can I use the Vision Pro as the sole monitor solution for a desktop Mac, no need to "initialize" the system with an attached physical monitor first...?

I could see a powerful combination for creatives:
  • Desktop Mac, Keyboard, & Mouse
  • iPad & Apple Pencil
  • Vision Pro

With the setup I outline above, you would just use the iPad to show the discussed content...?
