I hope iTunes 12 can fix the home sharing and AppleTV. It has been a mess, super slow and make impossible to watch anything from my computer. It's not the network because iTunes Store, Netflix and anything over the net works just fine.

hasnt been fixed it on my rMBP and itunes 12...

i click on a 40 mins episode and it already takes forever to even start, then it plays for like 10 mins just fine before the time has caught up with the current buffer and it appears the apple tv hasnt bothered to buffer more when all of the sudden it buffers like 30% in 2 seconds before it stops buffering once again. like u said netflix etc work just fine. it has gotten so annoying to keep checking if the file has been buffered enough all the time that i just use an hdmi cable to watch local content straight from the macbook at this point

I can't wait to see what they mess up this time. They're very quickly gaining a reputation for that.

So now we are criticising Apple for mistakes that they are going to make?

If they do in fact make the mistake, then remember you can't say anything because you already have.

If they don't make any mistake, remember to apologise clearly. Fair is fair.

My ATV works fine, it is just that home sharing on my iOS devices s*cks ever since 10.9 and iOS 7. It is not any better on 10.10 and iOS 8.

I really hate the flat borderless bright colors the entire Tech industry has moved to. It looks awful, it's confusing, all sense of depth is removed. It also removes any sense of important information. I can't wait for this fad to die out.

With so much white it really does begin to look washed out and way to bright on some screens.

The backlit white background is really blinding on the recent iOS developments. Apple should release ieye chart, or iChart, in order to assess how bad your vision’s gotten.

Now all I need is for them to revamp the App Store and Yosemite is complete for me! (Sort of, still inconsistency with some icons but I can deal with it for now.)

One thing that needs looking at is the tv shows for me. Browsing my tv shows currently works better on my iPad or iPhone with the album art and then drilling down takes you to the seasons artwork and episodes from there.

iTunes now shows the entire shows episode list when I click on it. There is minor separation between the seasons with the season numbers in a font slightly bigger. This just doesn't work well for me with shows (for example, South Park) that have at least 100+ episodes. It all just turns into a wall of text, woeful. I have tried changing the view from 'TV Shows' to 'Shows' which is slightly better, but then has all the shows listed in a left column.

I'm beginning to feel like iTunes is designated to the engineers that misbehave or the new engineers as their first app at Apple to help build experience. It would go a long way with explaining the bugs and constant redesigns (new programmers, new thoughts on how the app should work).

I'm still waiting to see what the windows system requirements will be. If it's equal to Yosemite then it should be windows 8.1 or greater or maybe they will stop making itunes for windows altogether like they did with safari and just send out minor updates for new phones in version 11.

Consider starting your own website called OnlyPositiveAppleComments.com or OnlyPraisingApple.com or similar. If this site actually heeded your wish, it would dry up to nothing. Every thread with 500 posts of only "rah rah Apple" would quickly get old.

The counterpoint when it's actually constructive is often more interesting than the "Apple can do no wrong" cheerleading. If it's only the koolaid drinkers, imagine how boring that would be.

If you personally only want positive spin visit Apple PR http://www.apple.com/pr/ all (Apple) positive, all of the time.

I've never taken a break from MacRumors because too many people like Apple. I have taken breaks because I am tired of the constant Apple bashing with no way to respond but feeding the troll. I left for quite awhile after the down vote was removed and maybe not so coincidentally this drumbeat of anti-Applism started. Not constructive critiscm but simply bashing. I believe there are people being paid to disrupt this and other sites.

The fact that the up vote for those that dislike the whining vastly outnumbers the contrary view is refreshing.

Maybe because people have spent lots of time and money buying into the echo-system. Apple were about attention to detail. Every little pixel was important.

If you're invested in something so much, you've got a right a bitch and complain all you want when they ruin it.

It is the "ruin it" conclusions that are the most annoying. Not degrade, miss the mark, slip up, but RUIN. It's like teenagers that won't leave the house because they have a pimple. Their life is RUINED and will never recover.

Nothing about iTunes, or antenna bars, or flat icons or fake bending controversy is going to ruin my Apple experience. To me, with a perspective from both inside and out, they are the most ethical corporate citizens providing a wide range of exciting, yes innovative, products that have repeatedly changed the world and my life.

Perhaps because people invested in the Apple ecosystem at a time when Apple did not mess up as much as it does now.

There has been no time that Apple hasn't messed up as much as it does now. It has made missteps and apologies and course corrections since the day it was founded. It's goal is not to be perfect, just insanely great. By definition that commitment will produce occasional failure. But those failures don't mean Apple is doomed.

I think that iTunes problems comes from its main purpose from Apple's perspective, to be the single entry point to the Apple Eco-system. They don't seem to value that in iOS, hence the different stores. I personally don't like having three different apps to buy media from Apple, but I also don't like the confusion of the macs iTunes when trying to buy a specific type of media. These are conflicting intents and there may no good solution or some ingeniously simple one.

If you do not like what others think about the direction Apple is going you can alway disconnect your internet and stop whining about whiners.

He is not whining about whiners. Just saying that MacRumors have attracted lot of them lately which in fact is not far from the truth. It's a whiners paradise here :D

Agreed. Split iTunes up into a "suite." You can have the following;

iTunes Music
iTunes TV & Movies
iTunes Audiobooks
iTunes U
iTunes Podcasts
iTunes Apps
iBooks
iTunes Sync

EDIT:

Or if that's too convoluted, iTunes can be split up into just two "apps." (1) iTunes, which contains all the stores & content. (2) iTunes Sync, which allows you to sync content to and manage your iOS devices.

Apple can do this for OSX & Windows machines.

I know iTunes is a well established brand, but the name just doesn't make sense for all of the things it now encompasses.

I still don't get anyone's lust for flat. Visual cues are important. Why build in resolution and then remove the need and use for it?
And to all of you with 20/10 vision who are not having issues. Someday you will.

Animated Gifs

I hate the fact that animated gifs have made a come back.

Split iTunes - I'd like to have what you are Smoking.

Yeah, because removing Podcasts into its own separate, janky, unusable App worked just so amazingly well.

Just NO.

What is so freaking difficult about using iTunes now?

The categories in the store are clearly labelled Music, Movies, TV, Apps, Books, you click it and it displays all the new and featured items for that category, how much simpler does it need to be?

They totally f'ed over Podcasts by removing them from the store and you think it's a great idea for them to make 5 or 8 separate Apps????

The flat design doesn't bother me at all, but there are some true usability issues that I wish would get addressed. Here are a few that frustrate me:

1. A shared iTunes library takes forever to load on iPads and iPhones, making it unusable. Third party apps work so much better for accessing media on a network computer or drive -- so why does the built-in functionality suck so bad? The Apple TV pulls up a shared library better (they should use the same approach for iPads and iPhones), however even that could use some improvement.

2. In the store, content organization and lack of being able to filter/sort is frustrating! Particularly movies. As an example...I don't have any interest in owning many movies -- I mostly go to the store to rent. Why is there no option that allows me to just view movies available for rent? I hate browsing through the store, finding something I want to watch and then finding out there is no rental option. They should have an ability to sort or filter -- or even just a selection button under each category (e.g., show all, show only rentals). Again, other third-party apps/stores do this so much better.

3. This is a little off topic, but related...on the Apple TV, I wish they would allow a selection of SD or HD in the store for each title rather than making it a global setting. There are times when I want HD and times when I am fine with SD to save a little money. It would be so simple to allow you to select what you want directly when purchasing/renting a title rather than making it a global setting. The iTunes store on the Mac has this, why can't they make it work this way on Apple TV?

I agree that they probably shouldn't be standalone, but the name and icon should change. It just doesn't make any sense to call something iTunes (with an icon that has a big music note) that includes movies, TV Apps, etc. Maybe iMedia, iEntertainment, iHub, Apple Media -- I am sure Apple can come up with something that would make more sense. I do understand why they don't want to move away from such a strong brand, but there is such a huge disconnect between the name and what it includes.

This really came to my attention when I was trying to explain to my mother how she could rent a movie on your Mac (coming from using Windows and never owning Apple products before) -- and she asked where's the "video" store. I said it's through iTunes, the icon with the music note on it. She didn't even think to look there because she thought it must obviously be for music being named iTunes and having a music note to represent it. I had to agreed with her that it makes no sense, but said that's just how Apple does it.
