I took a screenshot to test it out, but don't want to post it of an apple employee anywhere. I think that might be a bit of a privacy invasion.

If you change it by 15% it's considered a new work :) Photoshop a mustache on him/her and throw it up here!

that's exactly what i like about those apple guys. since years there are tons of phones out there to make video calls, but nobody uses this feature. apple asks itself "why?" and "how can we make it more popular?" … they don't just slap a front camera on their phones and take a wait-and-see approach like the rest of the phone industry, they actually try to encourage people to use this thing.

As an Apple shareholder, I appreciate them stepping up their game without being asked, improving the quality of communication, preventing waste and reducing angry customers by offering a human face in these customer service situations.

Also, as an investor in general, I think many other investors are shortsighted and greedy, and it's for the good of us all that their input is reduced to a simple monetary transaction.

wow

its good to hear that Apple is diverting customer service reps and resources to a service which basically lets users play with their iPhones while some people are still enduring really long wait times just to try and figure out basic issues like...why dont i have my phone yet even though I ordered in the early AM hours of the 15th?

This is so incredibly goofy. I love it.

Imagine calling up tech support, just so you can have a video phone conversation. So dork-awesome!

I just had a flashback to when I was a kid visiting Disney World/Epcot Center (~30 years ago). At one point there was this video concierge service. You'd sit at a booth and talk to a concierge person over a video link.

I was completely gratuitous fun; The concierges were most likely right behind the wall we were facing and could just as easily have helped us live if there were windows instead of video booths. But it was great and us kids especially loved it. I kept asking the concierge any stupid question I could think of to draw the conversation out.

I'm imagining a bunch of facetime calls like that.

One of the key features of iPhone 4 is FaceTime, Apple's new video calling feature. Unfortunately, the feature is currently limited to iPhone 4-to-iPhone 4 calls, making it difficult for some people to try out the new feature if they don't know any other users with the device.

Apple has addressed the issue with a new FaceTime support and testing hotline at 1-888-FACETIME, mentioned in an email sent to some iPhone 4 customers by Apple. Callers to the FaceTime hotline will be asked a few questions about their phone and Wi-Fi situation before being transferred to a FaceTime session with an Apple representative. Callers can then receive information about the feature, ask questions, and test things out with the Apple representative on the other side.

The FaceTime hotline is currently available between the hours of 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM Central Time.

Whens the british verison of this out? i wanna try this

this gives me a great idea for a 1-900 service.

why waste your time on chatrt when you can get so much more for only 9.99?

LOL.

Customer support is going to be screwed if this is the future if other companies start offering face to face support.

As who here is going to be filled with confidence talking to an operator while a man in the background (snake charmer) is trying to tempt a snake back into a basket?

Wish someone would invent ClickToLameAttemptAtMildlyRacistHumor.

WOW! Worked cool. Within 2 minutes I was connected to Michael an Apple Representative, and it worked out really cool, easy and he went through the features and was quite helpful! This is a another great customer service attribute to Apple!
