AppleWatch definitely needs a theatre mode. I was watching a movie and every time I moved my wrist, it would light up, distracting those around me. I hadn't ever turned my Watch off (never needed to) so I held the dock button thinking it would be like the iPhone and the thing suddenly started blaring!! I activated the 911 feature!! Argh! I ended up taking the Watch off and stuffing it in my pocket.

Putting a theatre mode in watchOS' Control Centre would be helpful. It would quickly temporarily turn off tilt wrist to awake and sounds. It would also come in handy when you're sitting with someone at a table. I've been dating a lot lately and every single girl told me the same thing: that the Watch kept waking up through dinner and it was distracting.

It's probably Dark Mode. I keep wondering if that feature was meant for the iPhone 7 and got delayed somehow.

The main features of the 7 were the new jet black and the camera that works better in the dark. Even the ads are dark. Would have been the perfect match. Especially as the ATV did get the dark mode treatment at that time.

But as the OLED screens were delayed, they could have decided to postpone the feature until the next iPhone as it would not be purely cosmetic but actually save battery life.

Just speculation, but this implies we won't be seeing this feature in a dot release.

How about being able to change the volume without missing 3 seconds of whatever you're watching?

To me these kind of issues proof that either Apple staff is NOT using their own products or are simple NUMB to UI issues. Same goes for use of iWorks programs. Why would anybody remove a perfect working data merge function from Pages? Why would you not be annoyed by not being able to set a default way you want inserted pictures to wrap text around. Drives me nuts, should drive them nuts, it doesn't. so they don't use it or are numb.

Theatre mode: disables all on-screen pop ups/notifications/audio and video toolbars etc to allow uninterupted playback.

This is one of those things that makes me wonder if people at Apple actually even use iPhones.

Also things like the pop-ups that tell you there are wifi networks you could join (don't care), the battery is getting low (I know that) and when you get a call whilst using the phone as sat nav (where the hell has my map gone?).

My 2006 black MacBook had a remote control and a "theatre mode"... I believe it was called Front Row

...and the touchscreen, optionally, so I can give my iPhone to my daughter with a kids' movie playing, without her inadvertently pausing, stopping, closing the video with her thumbs, EVERY 5 seconds!!!

You can do this under single app mode by enabling guided access under settings > accessibility > guided access
Set a pin code for it.

Now open the app you want your daughter to use, press home 3 times (quite quickly) now set the restrictions you require e.g disable home and touch etc and you are sorted. The iPhone is stuck on that app till you press home 3 times and pop in the passcode to release it from the app.

They will put popcorn mode right next to night shift when you swipe up. You'll be able to configure what it controls.

Now they just need an energy saver mode, one set of settings while plugged in and another while on battery.

Its very-likely a Reference to the DCI-P3 wide gamut color space (vs Display P3) ... and it probably means that those with an Apple mobile device that supports wide color capture & display (7, 7 Plus and 9.7" iPad Pro), will be able to throw a switch, to transition their device into a DCI-P3 mode, for at least the Display, and possibly for both (capture & display), whenever so desired ... DCI-P3 is intended for darker viewing environments, and is used at the Movies.

At a minimum, it would allow a Cinema-type viewing experience, with established DCI-P3 wide gamut color space content, of which there is plenty to chose from ... vs Display P3, for which a User would need to generate their own content, via their device's camera.

The fact that it gets leaked just-today is very interesting, to say the least !
Rec.709 is already expanded to the screens own profile (near to P3). Your device does it all the time, some Adobe'98, some custom profiles for images etc. Rec.2020 with HLG is the important standard, DCI-P3 is a niche standard only used by cinema projectors and non standard compliant TVs.

This is far too technical an idea to get a button in control centre for most iPhone users. Not a chance.

If it is dark mode, watch it be exclusive to the 7 and 7+ (I hope to God that the 6s/+ and SE support the feature if it's confirmed).

I just change to iOS version number in my outbound firewall. Feels good to generate all this future expectation, even if the implementation will have crappy usability, probably require 30 beta releases to get right, and when delivered will be nothing like the beta releases.

We've seen a steady increase in visits to MacRumors from devices claiming to be running iOS 10.3 over past several months with visits now numbering in the hundreds per day, suggesting a developer release could indeed be coming in the near future.

So 10.3 isn't available to developers...
Yet Mac Rumors is getting hundreds of hits from 10.3 devices...

That can only mean one thing...

Apple employees (software engineers?) are swarming all over Mac Rumors every day. Interesting. Very interesting.

Maybe I should tone down some of my more 'colorful' comments. But then again... maybe not:eek:
