Looks like my prediction was correct that Apple would announce the M2 Pro / Max chips and machines a few months before the Mac Pro and M2 Ultra, so each chip could have its time in the spotlight.

But thankfully they’re starting that timeline sooner than expected, so a January M2 Max announcement does make a March M2 Ultra / Mac Pro announcement more likely!

A lot us wonder about the 2022 13" M2 MBP with a 720p FaceTime HD camera, and just stereo speakers?

That was like a rush job to throw that together. Comparably the 13" M2 MBA had 1080P FaceTime camera and Four-speaker sound system.

It would makes sense if that saw some changes for the 13" M2 MBP along with the Mac minis finally seeing a M2.

Interesting; a refreshed Mac Mini could get me to open the wallet a bit.
If there's a variant with a M2 Pro processor, I suspect these will sell like hot cakes.
AFAIK Mac Minis are one of the worst sellers in the entire Mac lineup, and I don't really get why - as it is the most affordable Mac.

What exactly would you call the A12Z, M1 and M2 iPad Pros if not spec bumps?
Better question, what do you call the 13 inch Touch Bar MacBook Pro M2? It’s literally identical to the M1 in every single way, except for the processor.
Spec bump would be more RAM or SSD, for me a new CPU is a new generation.

The US site www.apple.com shows that but sorry to say that it's not new. Even back in November you could still see that. Just go to web.archive.org and paste the URL https://www.apple.com/shop/buy-mac/macbook-pro/16-inch-space-gray-10-core-cpu-16-core-gpu-512gb. It looked like that on Nov 10th.

There's no way they would release M2 Pro/Max without an event. The only Mac that would get a silent update would be Mac Mini/iMac M2 since there wouldn't be much to talk about.
They would most definitely introduce an M2 14"/16" with pro/max without an event.

I suppose a minor spec bump on MBP 14" and 16" would make sense via a press release -- so I'll go with that prediction.
I just got a leaked pic of the new MBP!!

Literally every argument here is poor.
1. We're not talking about old trickle down products. We're talking about a yet to be release brand new product. No M2 Pro is going to debut in a $1499 box.
2. Who is it going to sell to? Anyone who might buy it would also buy a Studio or a MBP. Apple isn't going to lose money on those purchases just because.
Who is the $329, $449 and $599 iPads for?
Who is the $1299 MacBook Pro for that the $1199 MacBook Air or the $1999 MacBook Pro isn’t?
You’re literally saying that apple wouldn’t add a step to the ladder of their devices… When they’ve spent the last five years literally adding as many steps to their product lineups as possible.
There’s an iPhone at pretty much every price point, an iPad at pretty much every price point, a laptop at pretty much every price point, but for the desktops, there are some massive gaps.
There’s also gonna be a laptop with the M2, M2pro and M2max… but not the same options for their desktop line? No.
There’s literally an Intel Mac Mini in the lineup right now just asking to be replaced.
Also:
“Anyone who might buy it would also buy a Studio or a MBP. Apple isn't going to lose money on those purchases just because.”
You are describing up selling, and it’s literally what Tim Cook is best at.
Making a massive latter of products.
“Why spend $699 on an M2 Mac Mini, when you can spend $1299 and get an M2 iMac.
Oh you don’t want an all in one? Well then why not spend $1500 on the M2pro Mac Mini?
Oh, it’s almost perfect, but you really need extra ports? Well check out the Mac Studio.”
It’s literally his game, and a midrange desktop isn’t a bad idea to keep their shipments going up and up and up.

Curious to see if M2 Max GPU scaling is better than M1's was, also really wanted to see HW accelerated ray tracing
