No, it's a monitor for people who own a Mac Studio and are fussy about image quality; ie people who are involved in some kind of creative activity, such as photography/videography editing.

It's not for gaming, word processing, spreadsheets, etc.
Hm, I guess I missed the memo which explained that it was to be used strictly with the studio.

I said it was made the the apple masses, and I would assume that most people in that mass use apple computers.

I'm involved in some creative activity myself, and 27" is too small for me.

So you are comparing two products when one is almost 4x more expensive?

Wow, what an argumeng - keep going, i'll get ready for more fun
First of all, I was responding to someone who made the comparison. But to put things in perspective for you, since clearly these scattered pieces aren't clicking into place... I'm comparing the only 2 monitors that apple currently offers.

seems too soon after the studio display. if they were working on them concurrently, why wouldn't they have just stuck with this one? if this is going to sit in the middle of the lineup , why isn't the studio display less expensive?

delayed delayed just to keep you safe mr Young? Your accuracy will be affected if its not coming this month...sorry ,you cant fool us with "delay delay until it will came"

There was no memo, it's my opinion. As is yours suggesting the Studio Display is for the masses,

I’ve got two studio displays that I’m very happy with. I don’t think the mini led ones will be in my price range, and for drafting and rendering I don’t need 120hz at all.

Well this is likely going to cost 3000-3500 so it doesn't seem to be an issue when the SD is 1799 and the Pro XDR is 4999. Perfectly in the middle really.

This will probably be $2499, even with EDU pricing. sigh.

Will wait for LG's upcoming 27" OLED monitor. Definitely need to replace my aging Dell P2415Q- although 4K60hz and good PPI at 24", it doesn't have VRR and doesn't play nice with macOS- lot's of sleep/wake issues

Exactly why I buy Dell UltraSharp, built in KVM, 3 year warranty, matte and height adjustable stand standard.

Hopefully they can make their own model with the same panel. Also hoping this is made using IPS Black technology as that will greatly improve black levels/reduce blooming.

Me too. Mac Studio Ultra tucked in behind the 5K2K 40" Ultrawide. So the only visible brand is the Dell one at the bottom of it and an Apple logo on the mouse. People think my new "Dell" looks great. ;)

After a decade plus on 27" iMac screens, I could never come back from an ultra wide. That extra screen RE is just too useful for me.

Plus I needed bootcamp and Silicon pretty much rules that out (ARM Windows is not full Windows). So that KVM with multiple inputs supports a Mac-Mini like Mini PC to be my modern day Bootcamp option too. This screen can even split screen them so I can have Mac and Windows side by side like running two 27" iMacs, one with macOS and one with Windows.

Completely pleased with this setup. It basically feels like I've merged two iMac 27" screens together inside of a single bezel. Unlike beloved iMacs though, when Apple updates make Mac Studio Ultra obsolete in a few years, I won't have to throw out the screen too. That most recent round of that removed all of my own interest in ever owning an iMac again (unless Apple made it so that the screen could be used beyond the time they decide to obsolete the tech guts). A good screen can last 10+ years (see multiple posts in this thread of people still using prior generation Apple screens made well over 10 years ago).

Its nonsense though. Its the same like saying mac mini is poor quality product next to mac studio

I get a lot of my work (actually all of it) done on my 16 inch MacBook Pro screen. Not sure why one should need a 30 inch display to “get work done” tbh.
I wonder if different people do different types of work that necessitate different amounts of screen real estate...Nah, everyone probably all does the same stuff you do.
