Well I ordered a 128GB 15 Pro. I'm unlikely to use ProRes (but nice to know I can now attach external storage to do so if I did). Since my music moved to the cloud and iCloud photo library optimises its local storage I've never gone over 128GB (hovering around 110GB right now) even when I had larger capacities.

I'd be all for starting at 256GB if it didn't mean higher prices. But I think, for now, even if they could start. 256 model at the current 128 price it would mean they could have offered a 128 and a reasonably cheaper price.

This is not the same as, only just a few years ago, when 16GB was the entry level and that was just not sufficient for just about anyone.

Says to me that 128GB version of a "Pro" iPhone should not be a thing. Just like MBAs with 8GB of RAM and single chip 256GB storage. I get that Apple makes a nice $ on the storage and memory options, but the base specs should not be crippling to the device features.
I completely agree with you. Even if you purchase a MacBook Air with 128GB, upgrading to the latest macOS can be difficult. The standard storage capacity should be increased to 512GB.

Apple offers 256GB and 512GB Pro models today for $50 less than they were in 2019. If people want 256GB or 512GB, they should pretend the 128GB doesn't exist and buy 256GB or 512GB and be glad they aren’t paying 2019 prices. :)

I still don't use half of my 128gb; though with the new higher res photos on the 15 line, it'll be interesting to see how that plays out.

Apple does not mention this information on the iPhone 15 Pro's tech specs page on its website, but the limitation is listed when comparing the iPhone 15 Pro to another iPhone model in the Apple Store app, as seen in the screenshot below.
This is the problem, not the storage itself. You buy for your needs, including storage. Not everyone is going to record video at max resolution (if video at all), but people who do should be informed about limits so they don’t run into hassles..

Again, missing the point. I should have know better though, Apple apologists ignore logic and reasoning in favour or their loyalty to a BRAND. A BRAND.....
I’m one of the more critical people on this board when it comes to Apple being cheap on their base products.

This is a completely different situation.

If you want external storage, use the USB port for it. Apple will never add user replaceable internal storage on its mobile devices, and the industry, including your beloved Samsung, dropped it 2 years ago.

I eagerly await your response as to why this is warranted.

"my beloved samsung"

LMAO..... You're really living up to the stereotype of an Apple fanboy. You REALLY think that anyone who doesn't FULL ON support Apple absolutely must be a Samsung fanboy? What's wrong with you?

Anyway, yah.. most of the industry has stopped giving consumers the easy (and respectable) option of expanding storage... Sony is the only one that makes high end phones with extra memory. This is brutal. And I dont give a **** if you prefer it to be this way because Apple desires it to be just to sell more expensive phones if people want/need more memory.

Hey man, YOU posted a Samsung image and came to an Apple board to complain why Apple, who has never had user replaceable storage, doesn’t have an SD card slot. When you’re challenged on it, you call me an Apple fanboy. I’m not saying it because it’s Apple, I’m saying it because THE ENTIRE INDUSTRY stopped SD cards in phones. If you don’t like it, go to another phone company, like Sony.

Nobody is forcing you to buy Apple. But please, do tell me any iPod model going back to 2001 with user replaceable storage. Then show me any iPhone model with it back to 2007. Then show me any iPad model back to 2010 that supports it.

This is a ridiculous argument that you probably would’ve had support for maybe 10 years ago, but the ship has sailed bud.

On “pro” models storage should start with 1tb+

I understand wanting to make money, but storage is so cheap, why is 128,256,512gb even an option?
Corporate greed. They charge $200 more for the 512gb option even though it costs them less than $30...

LMAO, you get this worked up about someone pointing out that the lack of storage could easily be solved with a simple microSD slot....

Go on, defend Apple on this. Or defend Samsung. Seriously, give a reasonable defence of why consumers shouldnt have this option at all.

I never make videos, which is probably why 128GB is more than enough for me.
And also why i don't care about this.

I couldnt find enough difference between proress and 120MB HEVC in final cut messing up with shadows and highlights... I guess the iphone hardware and software manipulate both formats enough so the advantage isnt as if you are using a DSLR

yeah, the 512GB is the one that really chaps my b...t If they just made it $100 more they would get a lot more people to upgrade to it.
