Oh my, Apple is going to turn its logo so it appears right-side up in landscape mode. Whoopty doo, what else is new, lol...

Steve Jobs was a salesman. He did not come up with product design or product ideas on his own. However, he had firm opinions on usability, design and use cases and some 'good' taste. Tim Cook's focus seems solely money-minded in comparison. In fact, I am certain that Tim Cook does not even use his own products, albeit superficially. I believe he is clueless when is comes to software usability.
I agree and Steve also had a vision…an amazing one. Cook is blind to anything but share value and money in his bank.

I must be the oddball, hardly ever use my iPad in the landscape position, read books, shopping online, visiting websites, social media, play music, play games all in portrait mode.

I’d keep it in portrait. To me it makes more sense. If I look at my own use, the times I take my iPad out of the Brydge case, I (want to) hold it in portrait.
This also means that it‘s logical to have the cases have their logo in landscape.
This! Exactly what I was thinking too

Steve Jobs rolling in his grave.

iPad was supposed to be a creative tool.....ended up as a glorified netflix/youtube/gaming tablet.
iPad was, is, and will continue to be, a glorified iPhone. It just happens to become a creative tool.
Average customers won’t do anything fundamentally different on iPad than what they typically do on an iPhone.

Place an OLED screen in its place, so it can turn accordingly to the orientation and change color depending on which social marketing campaign Apple is running.
Also, increase the price by 200$ for the privilege!

I am no expert in cadavre gyration but, since Jobs resigned as CEO, Apple's cap has essentially decupled. He must at least be at peace with his successor for that. For sure, Tim must be doing some things minimally right.

Oh the dramatics! They just had an entire keynote on almost nothing but creativity including the new Apple Pencil, Logic Pro AI features, Final Cut Pro including live multicam taking in video streams from multiple devices/Final Cut camera app… etc etc etc.

I don’t have an iPad, or a use for any of these features, and I’m certainly not a big Tim Cook fan, but your comment is a bit absurd, friend.

Simply NOT true.
For those that think Steve’s objection to an operating system that requires a stylus somehow equates to him objecting to something like the Apple Pencil: no. He was a huge admirer of calligraphy and I think he would have loved the Apple Pencil.

But who knows 🤷🏻‍♂️

I'd like something like a slim, small, lightweight iPad with full MacOS (not iOS) build in and integrated keyboard please. Don't care about the logo. A netbook with long battery life to carry around.

Well it’s about time!
I never hold my iPad mini in a portrait mode, also they need to figure out the volume controls left or right side, but that requires manufacturing, the logo thing it’s a software very easy to fix.

Ok. Can we get multiple user profiles and the ability to sync apple watch with iPad. If they still want to ball and chain watch to iPhone, they could require iPhone for watch activation but still allow the watch app on iPad for syncing / managing watch once it's been activated on iPhone.

Most websites look better when viewed

If you were going to say landscape then I disagree, you can view more vertically, in fact most of the web is consumed that way on smartphones so websites are certainly designed for it.

Just make a spinning logo like on RR wheels and the problem will be solved for good (like if someone cared).

Finally, we are gonna get the landscape Apple logo! This is a courageous move. It largely makes up for iPad OS limitations and artificial limitations imposed on the device due to it.
