Is that all? I thought with the rollout of the X it would be like 90%.
Who would have thought? Glad I'm in the 48%.

For those of you holding out who have a iPhone 7 or 7 Plus, I had upgraded by 7 Plus to iOS 11 with zero issues. No battery issues, just new features. Not all OS upgrades yield a potentially negative experience. Now I'm using the iPhone X also on iOS 11 with no issues after upgrading it to 11.1.
Must be nice. Been terrible on my 7

Bet 50% had no choice but to install bc there wasn't a option to say no; don't download without my permission, update, restore (to same version) or allow me to opt out..

Never ever going to upgrade from 10.3.3 as 6+ is slow already. iOS 11 brings absolutely nothing I care about, just speed lost. Heck if I could go back to iOS 9 i would...

But wow Apple sure makes it a pain to avoid it, their popup screen kind of hides the NO thanks and pushes the "install it later thanks"

Hint: Install tvOS beta...

I did and I couldn't be happier. No popup notification for me :)

Totally agree. My 6+ is a dog on iOS11.

Have no idea what 5s or 6 owners expect to gain from upgrading to iOS11? Smoother UI? Better battery life?

I mean seriously...are you out of your mind? I wouldn't even let my 6s+ touch iOS11.

You can actually disable all those update reminders by doing the following:
  1. Open the Settings app and go to “General”
  2. Choose “Storage & iCloud Usage”
  3. Go to “Manage Storage”
  4. Locate the iOS software update that is nagging you and tap on it.
  5. Tap on “Delete Update” and confirm that you want to delete the update*

Nope. That's not the way to do it.

Installing tvOS beta however...;)

You do know that the "new versions of iOS are deliberately slower" meme has been tested and was found to have no basis in fact :

https://www.macrumors.com/2017/10/06/apple-doesnt-deliberately-slow-older-iphones/

There can be memory footprint issues in some Apps, but there's precious little fact behind this conspiracy theory.

I never said Apple was deliberately slowing down the CPU and GPU. You don't understand the report, it is showing the CPU and GPU speeds are not being deliberately slowed by Apple. The issue is each iOS release has more "functionality" that older CPUs cant run fast enough to keep up, thats my complaint.

oh and Arstechnica tested ios 10 vs 11 and showed all apps were 1-3 seconds slower to open as was boot time on the 5s iphone.

Can you please direct me on how to do the tvOS beta profile trick? Is this accurate?

It will redownload after a while, bringing back the popups.
Only way to stop it is to fill your device so it has no space to secretly download the update. That is how my iPad mini 2 is working for me. (There was one complicated way of making your device think it's an Apple tv but that i have not tried)

iOS11.1 fixed some lags including the 3d touch stutter, but still the battery drain is awful

No only way is the method mentioned above which is to install the tvOS beta profile on your iPhone. :) https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/stop-update-ios-11.2061615/

52% of devices forced to update because of constant reminders by Apple to update.

You can actually disable all those update reminders by doing the following:

Love this no more update reminder nags.

Yeah, I have tried the tvOS profile method, it's probably the best.

hmm i wonder who is in that 10%

image.jpeg

With iOS 11 installed on 52 percent of devices, 38 percent continue to run iOS 11. 10 percent are still on an earlier version of iOS

Typo?

Incidentally, wish I hadn’t put my 6 in the 52%.
I agree...its terrible particularly on iPhone 6 too bad I can't go back to iOS 10

Rocking 10.3.3 on my 7+. Was considering upgrading to 11.1, but after using it on my wife's 6S, no way. Even after a clean install on her device, no restore from backup, it is a miserable experience. Stilling loving my 7+, this thing flies on iOS 10.

It's not that the CPU or anything is down-throttled, it's that the iOS device in general is reacting slower to every-day tasks running iOS 11 opposed to iOS 10.

Generally speaking, any iPhone below the 7 and any iPad below the Pro are irritatingly slow on iOS 11.

All of Apple's attention in 11 went to the X. It was trash on my 6S until they started focusing on it after X came out. From what I've seen, 11 works exceptionally well on X while the other devices suffer.

They seriously need to stop releasing big updates every year and fix everything. iOS 6 and 7 were great and smooth, 8 started to lack behind, 9 was trash, 10 fixed it a little, then 11 pushed it further than 9 ever did. They really need to slow major revisions to every 2 years. It would benefit us a lot more. The Mac sure did benefit from it with Snow Leopard back then.

iOS users get a pretty rough deal. If they upgrade to iOS 11 they will most likely will not be able to roll back to iOS 10 should they want to as Apple would have stopped signing it.

While on Android, 52% can't decide which is the latest OS version

And we don't have to, the platform works differently. On Android, most of the relevant feature updates come with APPLICATION updates, the core OS version is not remotely as important as it is on iOS.
