Stop for a minute and imagine just what it takes to manufacture and ship “millions” of any tech device like this......it is impossible to make enough to meet demand.
For real, NO ONE seems to understand no company has to produce such complex devices at a rapid rate and volume such as Apple, it's actually incredibly impressive they get out millions of them so quickly

It’s not about paying whatever it takes. The plus is only a little bit cheaper relatively. This is probably the device or tool we use most, for so many different purposes. For some that justifies the price, for other it doesn’t.

This. We all know the iPhone should be called the I-Pocket(Computer). I use all the mapping, computer search, video, music, exercise, messaging, storing search results, etc. features way more often than I telephone anyone or crack open either the iPad or MBP. Only the AW S3 gets used more.
With AT&T in the boonies, calling reception is a crapshoot anyway and WIFI calling helps sporadically. It's amazing how much more often the "computer" features work better than the calling features on LTE. :)
And yes, I have spent way too much on these devices, but it is so much more fun than eating. :p

Strong words from Apple. Will be interesting to see how revenue shakes out next week and in Jan.

AAPL is up 3% today but GOOG is up 6%, AMZ up 12.5%, INTC up 6.5%, MSFT up 6.5%, respectively, after each reported strong earnings last night. AAPL get's its chance next week. But even without hard numbers it seems like there is a decent market for a $1200 phone. (Disclosure: I bought a 256 X).
I think the new Apple Watch is really going to do well this quarter as well. Seems like a lot of people I know who have never had the watch are buying one this time around, and a lot of upgraders from Series 0 and 1.

Apple marketing. Create a sense of urgency to feed the frenzy. What else are they gonna say... It's not selling well? Cook said the he couldn't be more happy with the ip8 launch. Duh.. is he gonna say he's not happy?

12:45pm....apple stock:
162.54 5.13 3.26% biggest increase in Apple history....after all the doom and gloom by Wall Street Experts....

I don't think WS predicted doom and gloom, actually. But do watch for a dip on the slightest hint of X technical glitches or a deceleration on orders over the next three months.

I've got two ordered. One from Apple, and one from TMobile. One's going to eBay, the other I'm going to leave sealed in the box for a week or so and see how the reviews pan out before I open it. I may just sell that one too if the FaceID reviews are horrid.

It's unfortunate that $1000 iPhone is acceptable and becoming the norm. Having said that......I pre-ordered an iPhone X.... :(

Yes, the appearance of scarcity is a huge part of marketing theory. Companies like Samsung can make lots of different models, but Apple struggles to make enough of one single product (and it is not even a market-leading product in terms of volume)? The appearance of Scarcity has become an Apple NEED. Without it, their stock plummets and Cook loses some of his stock options.

this is complete nonsense. List all the other products in the history of commerce that sold approximately 100 of millions of units a year? Do you understand the manufacturing and distribution challenges that goes along with these incredible numbers?

I wasn't too happy that I couldn't buy the Verizon one without a Verizon account. I wanted the CDMA model so when I travel to China could use TDS-CDMA which the Intel modem doesn't support. I had spend an extra $100 at Best Buy to get the Verizon one... Luckily I was able to get a two from Apple, but sadly both AT&T models.

Unlocked, no requirement to give my cell number and account information.
Pre-sale only available to those wanting it for one of the 4 carriers.

chart is wrong. Every t-mobile order 256GB at apple.com is nov 10-17. I got my order in at 12:01PST and have that date.

I got in at 12:06 and got in store pickup for the 3rd. Tmobile 256 space grey, had the option for nov 3 delivery but chose in store pickup

I answered your question by posting some proof.

No, you didn't. You posted speculated articles that have no evidence contrary to what you believe, because there is no indication of what Apple has for launch day devices in store. It's just your narrative doesn't agree with Apples, nor indicative of what somebody could possibly know a week from today. Again, speculation.

YOU started the conversation by pointing out my error

False. You quoted my post that I replied to from another forum member in Post 91. Please re-read the posts before assuming.

If they'd rebadged the iPhone 6 people would've bought it because it was "new". So it was always going to sell out by default. Consequently the shares price will always reflect this by default.

The only difference here is that the early adopters have been happy to pay an extra 20% year for a (cough) bezel less display and a (don't mention the elephant in the room) notched screen which is good in that it shows how much people are determined to show off their latest Apple product. But on the flip side it could be a 'blip-side' when the euphoria settles down and objectivity kicks once people decide whether a portrait mode and funny face messages is worth the best part of a grand or not.

Ironically next week Samsung will probably drop their prices further which will make the decision between ecosystems and financial sense even more terse. November will be an interesting month!

Can you do basic arithmetic? If so you’d see that they are interest-free. Literally take out a calcalutor and multiply monthly payment amount by total number of months and compare that to an upfront purchase.
It sounds mostly like he wants a reason to status-shame people who “can’t afford” nice things and that basic math isn’t really the top priority here. I could be wrong.
