I guess the iPhone X was too expensive.

Although I can't imagine spending that much on a phone. I guess plenty of people could care less and will pay whatever it takes.

Nobody would pay that mich for a phone, not even Tim Cook.

But its not just a phone because it is called a phone.

Well i’ll list out few things it also is....

Phone
Web browser
Alarm
Health trackers
Secure payment and authentication
GPS
Digital assistant
Personal digital organizer
Camera
Photo album
Email and communications

Etc etc

And... torch too

Anyone else still waiting for that email about the reservation?
yeah, I got in right at the first and got a screen stating that here is your reservation number to pick up at the store, and then the screen went away, and I knew I should have screen shot it. however, I just order the phone again and it says shipping, but on the order page says pick up at the apple store, so darn confusing.

"Munster created a chart [ . . . ]"

I call B.S. on gene's chart. i got into the store between 12:02:30 and 12:03:30. i ordered an unlocked/T-Mobile space gray 256GB device. the headers of the confirmation email show a date of "Fri, 27 Oct 2017 07:04:51 +0000 (GMT)" and already the ship time was 2-3 weeks.

the experience of this "analyst" is no more valid than the experience of users in this forum. in fact, macrumors should in some way formalize the presentation of its users' collective experiences and start selling that as research notes from their brand-spankity new VC firm.

This is the first time since 2007 that I will not have my new iPhone available for pickup or arrive at my front door on launch day. Way to go Apple, lol.

This is ROFL material. Its a headline that pre-orders are "off the charts" and based on sell outs... but we all know they had like 1/10th the supply they usually have because they've rushed this product out and having trouble making them. Is there anything that won't be spun as a positive?

How about a more accurate headline... "As expected, manufacturing delays led to early sell outs of new iPhone X".
MacRumors added the "sell out" portion to the title. Apple didn't say anything about the sell out, just that demand is extremely high, and you can buy them at multiple places on Nov 3.

Mine from T-Mobile is shipping on the 2nd for delivery on the 3rd...
Did you order with T-Mobile? I've yet to hear of anybody who ordered with the app or on apple.com that got a 11/3 date. I ordered 2 T-Mobile phones with the app at 12:02 and got 11/11-11/17 delivery window. I also called in a Jump-On-Demand upgrade and got an 11/2 ship date.

Why would Apple tell customers to stand in line for a pre-order? There are NO phones available during the pre-ordering process until November 3. That doesn't make any sense to me and I highly doubt Apple told someone to stand in line for something they cannot guarantee, because there is no stock available yet. Do you have any articles where this is stated?
Sorry, I messed up my earlier post. It has been edited.

Exactly. I got email confirmation at 12:04. Never saw 11/3 release day. It was immediately at 11/10-11/17 for me. Only release day for store-pickup. But I wasn't thinking and didn't do that.

Did you order from Apple.com or the Apple App? Right now it looks like if you ordered directly through Apple, there have been zero people who ordered T-Mobile that have release day delivery, unless they did in-store pickup.

I ordered directly from T-Mobile.

That's an interesting conspiracy theory you're spinning here, but I think Apple would disagree with you for this "Underwhelming" device.

Ok sunshine, you seem to be a wise guy/girl and don't believe in any of it. Enjoy queuing and dont forget the high fives with the Apple store staff when you get your iPhone X :D

And quite honestly, this list is the modest one. This is the simple list.

You're right, though. It's not just a phone as the name would imply.

This is honestly such a big part of their marketing. Constraining supply to increase demand, not only in the short term but for the product as a whole.

Imagine if the iPhone was readily available to pick up? It removes the “exclusivity” of it very quickly.

Edit: They are of course having manufacturing issues, but even if they weren’t, you know they’d issue the same statement.
This is so dumb. Apple wants to sell as many phones as they can. Period. It’s impossible to sell something you don’t have. The idea that seeing a 5-6 week wait for a product makes people more likely to buy that product is absurd. If anything someone will see it and decided to do nothing or all or buy something else.

I just choose to have a positive outlook on things and being negative doesn't make the situation any better for some. But I won't be high-fiving anyone, because it will be delivered directly to my address in the comfort of my home.
