There are going to be SO many disappointed people. How many of that initial batch are gonna go to the vloggers, and rich and famous too

Today you also have to ask, how many will actually work completely without warranty over the next few months? This is one phone where I would not delay in getting Apple Care!

Here’s the thing. The people who think/thought the price tag is outrageous are ALWAYS the most vocal. What you didn’t hear were alllllll the people who think the phone is so cool that the price isn’t a factor. Hence, Apple will sell every single one that they make and there will be lines and records broken.

A lot of people were probably embarrassed to post online that they are going to drop $1,000 for the iPhone X. It’s easier for people to bash it.

I agree with you that a lot of people were probably embarrassed to admit they were going to drop $1,000+ on an iPhone, but guess what? It is OUR money and we can do what we want with it! Screw people who want to judge us just because we want (and have the means) to drop $1,000+ on the first completely redesigned (first with OLED and FaceID etc...) iPhone since 2014 with the iPhone 6/6+. If people want to judge me, bring it on. As far as I know, none of you go to work for me, or pay my bills. My money is mine, yours is yours. Do not judge people because we are in a position to buy nice things, whatever they may be.

Wow, elitist much? So those willing to camp out for a day or more aren't loyal? While you do it all from the comfort of your warm house?
[doublepost=1508872711][/doublepost]

How is that elitist? All available phones should be made for order and if all of those units sell out during the preorder, then so be it. Having them available in store is fine if there are a surplus of units, which there won't be. Otherwise, this is just marketing by having the long, traditional lines that the media can cover. I'm not saying those willing to camp out aren't as loyal as the preorder crowd, they're equal. But you have to see how this is a marketing ploy...

I hope it isn't fake news. I'm a bit of chauvinistic jerk at times but believe women deserve more pay than what they get. I couldn't appreciate my girlfriends doing the things they did for me. Work and go home to do more chores. Never underestimate a woman's unconditional love for you. We wouldn't be born today without one.

I like Daisy Ridley as Rey. She might be a Mary Sue but I don't care. The Last Jedi trailer sorta has her looking like she goes dark. I liked Felicity Jones as Jyn Erso more. I prefer their acting more than Mark Hamill in SW. Wonder Woman is my favorite DCEU film. It's about a woman's love and compassion at the end! I also find Tina Fey's writing hilarious. My favorite actresses are Julianne Moore and Helen Mirren. Talent over looks.

So many Apple fans have been bashing Tim Cook and even Jony Ive. Maybe it's time for them to retire. The chances of Angela Ahrendts being Apple CEO is more intriguing to me than the X inventory on launch day. Because this is about Apple's future. Yeah, I remember the tweets about Angela looking like a lesbian even though she is a mother of three.

Remember when Louis CK described Hillary to Conan? She could take so much crap because she's a mother and wife that got cheated on many times. Maybe that's Angela too. Tim can't run Apple forever. I can see him do another four years to make it a decade and then giving the position to someone else by 2021.

Never really seen a super successful and charismatic business woman control a corporation like Apple. Fake news? I hope not. Tim Cook lacks vision. Apple needs a shakeup at the top. Hope sooner rather than later.

Angela Ahrendts of Apple = Kathleen Kennedy of Lucasfilm

Women need to take charge more and be admired by their talent and intelligence than be judged solely on their looks.
i really mean no disrespect to you but AA becoming CEO would be the day Apple truly loses their collective minds. A fashion background exec in charge of a tech firm that's already under scrutiny of becoming too focused on aesthetics and accessories? Yikes..

If the weather on November 3 here in Orange County is going to be similar to yesterday and today at 103-106 degrees, then forget it. Won't line up. It's almost Halloween and today's heat feels like being in Las Vegas during July.

We really don't know what the inventory will be. It all varies with allotment for pre-orders and then whatever is left over is for walk-ins. It could vary from store to store. Tim Cook is vague with it. Yeah, there will be inventory for walk-in but could be less than 5 left once all pre-orders are handled. If you could be #1-#10 for walk-in, and you still might NOT get one. Pre-orders get first dibs.

Super hot weather will prevent me from going. Just two weeks ago, we had brush fires in Tustin, Orange, and Anaheim Hills. Was a complete mess. Couldn't work that day. If it's going to be 95-100 degrees that Nov 3 morning and we all need to stand outside the mall, I will just head out to the movie theater after 11am for Ragnarok to cool off. I walked my dog around 8am today and it felt very warm for a morning.

Well said. I damn sure am not embarrassed Lol. IDGAF.

I think that's a certainty!

I am extremely curious now. Most Best Buy's are doing a midnight release of COD, will they tie that into an iphone X release or make people wait until store opening on that Friday. People could be camping out for 2 totally different reasons as well if they both are midnight releases, lol.

How gutted would you be opening the box and finding a problem, knowing you won’t get a replacement for 6 months...

Why would they do this unless they specifically want to generate big queues like in the old days? I think when they said they didn't want to encourage big queues they were fibbing a bit.
It always puzzled me why Angela wanted to do away with lines at the store before and on launch day.

It’s such free publicity that the media loves to gobble up.

Having said that, Apple announcing availability at some stores is possibly going to deter the availability of online preorder deliveries as they would foreseeably not want droves of people lining up for only 20 phones per store?

Apple. Such a shot in the bucket for the last few launches at crunch time.

I was able to get an unlocked iPhone 8 Plus on launch.

Very different examples. This has been an odd year for an iPhone cycle, with one coming out six weeks prior to the "big" upgrade. It was basically an S model without production issues, so yes, it was possible to buy that model same-day pretty easily.

this ticks me off a bit - we will all be up early this Friday to per-order and i bet many of us won't get one at launch - yet apple says they will have some in the stores and to be sure to line up early - 1. the store units should be for us - the per-order group - the most loyal customers 2. this is purely for Wall ST - they want visible lines to make headlines because initial sales will be low and they don't want WS freaking out.

let me amend this an try to make my point clearer:

perhaps i worded this badly. my complaint is that these lines are an artificial thing created by apple. A couple of years ago they purposely expanded the online order system, according to Angela Ahrendts, so that people wouldn't have to camp out in front of the stores in the freezing cold for hours (something I have done). And this has been very successful - the lines have decreased dramatically. Now they have a hot phone and very limited supply and they make an announcement that they will have some in the stores but you better show up early to get one. They know most won't get one opening day on the pre-order and they know we'll show up at the stores and wait in hopes of getting one. This is a game they're playing with all of us hard core fans who want one on opening day. I think all of the phones should be available for pre-order and on opening day they should announce that all have been sold out so people don't waste their time in line. I think few people can take the day off to stand in line in the potential cold (or rain) - but more can and would want to wake up at place an order at home.

Well, the debate of who is more loyal between someone willing to camp a line for many hours versus sit in the comfort of their home preordering then waiting for delivery has just been started.

i reworded it - my point wasn't to compare line standers to home orders.

With the

With the 7Plus I believe many people had to wait several days, if not weeks, for replacement phones.

Depends how many issues there are I guess, and how fast they go through the replacement stock they have. But it certainly won't be 6 months without a phone.

If the phone is DOA, I'm sure they will have it replaced fairly quickly. If it's the usual 'my screen is yellow' they might make you wait.

Then you pretty much need to start camping out atleast 2 days in advance because I bet the supply per store is under 20.

If that's the case that stores only get that amount, they better make that clear to people waiting outside their store the day/evening before. You don't want to have 100+ people waiting hours, some in the cold, only to find out the store only had 20-30 in stock. You could have some "problems" if you do. One more thing, maybe Apple should require that iPhone X purchases made the first few days/weeks can only be completed with a valid credit card, some government issued ID like a drivers license and activation through a US carrier (or some proof you're a current subscriber of AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, Sprint, etc).

I was curious about this as well, was about to ask about replacement stock.

Interestingly, the 8 was the only Apple product I've ever had difficulty getting here in NZ -- every store we went to had sold out, and I ordered it online instead. I would have ordered online originally but we made the decision to get it temporarily when we were out and so assumed that going to somewhere in the mall would be easier. Previous phones and other things right back to the first day of iPad there has never been a problem.

I suspect they've sold a lot more iphone 8's than people might imagine. And I'm sure they'll sell a heap of the X.

Why is there a an article about supply constraint and this articles say it's available in store?

They do seem a bit contradictory.

I think this phone is going to sell much better than people think.

I also suspect that lackluster sales of the 8/8 plus mean that they need some stores with queues out front for marketing and shareholder pep rallies.
