If the weather on November 3 here in Orange County is going to be similar to yesterday and today at 103-106 degrees, then forget it. Won't line up. It's almost Halloween and today's heat feels like being in Las Vegas during.

Imagine multiple day camping in line in Colorado in November lol holy Moses you gotta have some balls lol :)

man i want to see apple sell the units in the ARS by auction. i wanna see how much people are willing to spend to get it on launch day. would be fun to see that. they also have to sell units in store cause they want people to buy accessories as well.

since people like to talk **** about there is no que outside the store = **** business, this would be great to see it happen and shut those ****ers up.

Super hot weather will prevent me from going. Just two weeks ago, we had brush fires in Tustin, Orange, and Anaheim Hills. Was a complete mess. Couldn't work that day. If it's going to be 95-100 degrees that Nov 3 morning and we all need to stand outside the mall, I will just head out to the movie theater after 11am for Ragnarok to cool off. I walked my dog around 8am today and it felt very warm for a morning.

We certainly don't know what the weather will be on Nov 3rd, however this heat wave SoCal is having is a bit unusual, but it appears to be for just a few days. Last weeks temp were normal & toward the end of towards the end of the week, temps will be dropping 15-20 degrees.......so I'm thinking that we might be back to reg temps by Nov. 3rd.

Once again New Zealand will be the first place in the world to sell them.

And once again I'll walk in at 9am and see another Apple product I can't afford to buy. :(

Jesssh! I certainly wish he'd stick to running a technology business instead of immersing himself in presidential politics. Corporations have to function efficiently whether the left or the right is in power. There is enough for him to worry about that Apple is losing their technology innovation bubble. Tim does not behave like a technologist at heart. His interests and success seem have stemmed more from corporate politics, which is probably the reason he's seems not to be more interested in national politics rather than running Apple.

Tim, Retire from Apple so you can then have fun with the politics thing. Let someone with a fire in their gut for innovation move Apple forward before you destroy it from within any more than you already have.

All the speculation about supply constraints are from these "analysts" who have all been proven wrong so many many times before in the past.

It's entirely possible that Apple sorted any niggles out months ago and has tons and tons of stock for this.

It's their biggest hyped phone product of all time, I can't imagine that they've not worked extremely hard to ensure supplies are available and they make money on selling the things.
I’m sure these analysts were saying supply was constrained simply to goose the stock price up because the iPhone 8 had exceptionally weak demand.

Yah. As others have said, This news makes me think that the iphone being "super duper constrained" was false and was to build up hype.... If the X was so limited that people ordering an 2 hours after 12:00AM were not going to get the phones until 2018, I doubt apple goes back to walk in orders

They should limit themselves to only a few key countries on launch day, then expand quickly as production ramps up. Why does Apple not choose such a strategy?

Agreed. That’s what I was expecting. USA, Canada, France, Spain, Australia, Germany, Italy and then release elsewhere a week later.

Couple of days ago they will not have enough for everyone........Today its available for all wallk in.........So what is it tomorrow?

key difference between this thread vs all the others.

Apple officially stated what this thread is about.. the others were rumors created by 'supply chain analysts'

gee.. I wonder what the "analysts" motive could be....

Doesn't everyone get basic marketing... it's called the rule of scarcity. The more people think something is harder to get the more people want it.

Apple are putting out these stories as they know demand is low based on the price of the device, so by circulating stories saying supply is limited, limited stock in store etc etc, people will try harder to get one creating a PR buzz.

Whilst supply may actually be tight, this certainly being used to make the product demand look higher.

Or sadly the delayed release after to announcement has backfired: 8 sales have tanked, more people buying the old 7 (which is probably the sweetspot for profits anyway so Apple still win out). Without any media coverage of launch day queues, people will think this expensive phone is also a dud. It's a fine line to tread. You want demand, you want hype and you want to have product to sell. I'm still on the fence on this. I would normally update but the premium pricing, the ugly ears and first gen FaceID issues (and how constant scanning for faces affects battery life) are all enough to say pause on this purchase. And it's only 10 months til the next model gets announced (when FaceID will probably be in most models at a more reasonable price). Wonder if anyone at Apple is wondering if this rush to the X was worth the drama? Perhaps next time they will get their supply chain issues sorted, make lots of product and THEN announce it with immediate delivery. This hardline schedule release is getting harder each iteration to wow customers. When a 3 year old phone does pretty much everything you want, fast enough then you have reached Peak Phone. Same issue Microsoft had with Office when most people could find little reason to upgrade and hence the revenue stream model changed to subscription.

When Apple get an upgrade right, it is a good thing. The iPad Pros delivered this time around.

I'm loving my Watch Series 3. AirPods once I could walk into a store and buy them are also good. Still can't see a need for an Apple TV. What does it do any better than a cheap Chromecast? A few games?

Guess we will see in December how the smart speaker goes... announcing early works here as they had nothing to lose and could undercut existing product sales from other companies.

How is that elitist? All available phones should be made for order and if all of those units sell out during the preorder, then so be it. Having them available in store is fine if there are a surplus of units, which there won't be. Otherwise, this is just marketing by having the long, traditional lines that the media can cover. I'm not saying those willing to camp out aren't as loyal as the preorder crowd, they're equal. But you have to see how this is a marketing ploy...

I just love how people think they're entitled to anything, especially over others. Not.

Btw, with all those talks about having plenty available in-store. I still can't go into any of my the local official stores and pick up certain 8 versions... I still feel like we're gonna see a "4" happening all over again (back then, when I was lucky to pick up the last available black one at a local store right before christmas...the supply couldn't meet demand for a long time, and don't get me started about the white one...)

Stores will probably get "X" number of phones (no pun intended :) ) and then the rest will be for orders that are placed online. This should be an interesting release!

Well thanks Apple, there goes another good night of sleep. Maybe my preorder will get done in time and I won't have to camp out. :) Here we go again.

I doubt it. I don't think they have ever had unlocked on launch day.

Don't think that's quite accurate. The T-Mobile version that is sold at an Apple Store is an unlocked iPhone. I have a 6s Plus...purchased on launch day at the store.

Definitely some kind of disconnect here. If Kuo and co. are right why would Apple do this. But then why would Kuo and other's want to "cry wolf" on such a prominent launch? I mean they've been wrong before but this time people will remember because they calls of thin launch supply is so extreme. Either Apple or Kuo and Co will end up embarrassed. That is a long list of launch countries. One would think if supply was so constrained the # of launch countries would be too.Don't think that is the case, but $1100 + tax is no inexpensive even in monthly payments. We'll see Friday how it shakes out.
What I have seen on launch days is Apple will say there is no stock, yet if there is an issue with a phone you just bought, Apples DOES have extra units to replace it with. It's what happen to my phone when I got it. It was a software issue after having in about a week....when there was no stock being reported. I brought the phone in and once they determined I needed the phone replaced, I asked when did they anticipate having it back in the store. "We're replacing it right now. We have reserve units for that." Not saying this will be the case next week. But that was the experience I had.

Oh so you go stnad in line to talk to people? have fun buddy
They're in line with you to be the same device you're buying....commonality. A conversation naturally strikes up....and "I remember you on launch day" possibly weeks or months afterwards. That's just human. Of the 2 launches I camped out on, they weren't bad experiences.

The 2 malls I used to go to in Pittsburgh made you wait outside the mall. The lines would wrap halfway around the building. Then about 15 minutes before Apple would open, they would open the doors to the mall and we would line up again. So you could theoretically lose your spot going from line 1 outside to line 2 inside.
All depends on the mall. The last launch I went to here in Atlanta was run by a mall security team that was OUTSTANDING.

They had designated parking lots where they had cars line up spot for spot, one after the other and they knew your place in line and you were told to stay in your car or just outside of it. About an hour to go, they started lining folks up, one by one, calling each car in order....meaning you got the same spot in line that you were parked outside. NOBODY lost their place in line. The folks who tried to cheat it and cut were thrown out and a couple of arrests were made when they didn't leave. When the mall opened, it was single file and EVERYBODY got the phone on launch day. Outstanding job on that launch day with no chaos at all. Truly hoping for the same procedure next week.

i reworded it - my point wasn't to compare line standers to home orders.
That's appreciated, as I tried to be a pre-orderer and it didn't work out. Camped out and got the phone on launch day....beside a lot of people who didn't catch it on the pre order too.

Absolutely; they don't want to make this an online exclusive ordering situation. I see absolutely nothing wrong with that. Why should I have to log online to order this thing?

Consider the fact that I could potentially run a bot to reserve a dozen units at various stores. I am currently within an hour driving distance of nearly a dozen apple stores. That could be a pretty epic haul for a reseller.

Generally speaking, hot items go up online AND in stores. This isn't Apple. This is business as usual.... everywhere.
That’s pretty easy to stop - link pre-orders to an Apple account with valid billing details. Surprised if they don’t already do that. How do they stop you placing multiple online delivered pre-orders?
