Gotdam! These are chump prices. I’ll be fine with my Slicecharge Pro. It does my phone, AirPods, and watch. It also came with a USB-C power source and was under $80 when I got it.

$130 for the Duo that I was really looking forward to is a no go. Can I afford it? Yes. Is that a stupidly high price for convenience? Also yes. Meh.

Had it been $80 I'd probably spring, but that's absurd at $130. I thought it'd be nice for travel but with my multi port USB chargers, meh, I can plug in one more cable. Hard pass.

Was looking forward to the Magsafe Duo like the idea of it for travel though it does say recommended 20w charger i have the 18w so i'm guessing my 18w will work just charge at a slightly slower charge? Not sure i can justify the £129 cost let alone needing to upgrade the plug

No. $29 for the cable. $19 for the brick.

Talking about this...it’s £75 so at this price the duo was never going to be less than £100

Wait... why is this thing connected with a Lightning port? Could we just finally move to USB-C all the way?
I think of it this way, with the duo being connected by lightning my husband and I only have to bring the duo, one cable, and one brick with us when traveling. I have the iPhone 12 pro with MagSafe, so I can use the duo, but my husband has an 11 and can’t use the duo. So when his phone needs a charge he can just unhook from the duo and plug into his phone.

Now I know that’s typically not how everyone thinks. Fairly sure 99.9% of anyone traveling brings their own cable and brick. But it could be a reason why they went with lightning

That's pretty much where I am. Also, knowing this will in likelihood be materially better built quality than other brand chargers doing the same thing, but at that price, I'll buy the knock-off.

At $75 or so, I would have splurged on 2. At $130, f off Apple.

I don't think you have a good understanding of economy.... Pricing something high will not help your stock price or earnings.... Apple could have priced this thing at $500 if they wanted to but were they going to sell any at that price? If they price it too high causing sales volume to be low, the earnings won't be there unless they break a certain threshold..... I wouldn't be surprised if you see Apple lowering the price on this thing via third party retailers shortly after release... They won't lower the price themselves, but you'll see other authorized sellers suddenly have "sales" on it.
The problem is these same people have no issue spending money on an Apple product or other things but for some reason they expect Apple to always keep the barrier to entry low while not holding other companies to the same rubric. If you can buy a Tesla or a cup of Coffee from Starbucks you have no reason to kvetch at the price of the charger.

If they lowered the price for either of these items by $50, they would still be too expensive. Now that I've read all the negative reviews of MagSafe, the price seems even more absurd. This is one of those products that when I see it out in public I'll know the owner was a sucker.

Thank god it is so expensive. Was afraid i was gonna buy it and feel bad about the low efficiency of wireless charging. ;)

Was looking forward to this but things that put me of...

1. When removing your iPhone you are likely to drag you watch along for the ride, so it will be another two handed affair like MagSafe.

2. Marks made by the charger on the silicone cases, can’t believe Apple actually released this with such a flaw, a simple felt over the ring would have likely helped a great deal with this.

3. Now with a price point of £129 WOW! That is absurd for this charger IMO.

I think I am going to go with the Belkin one for £150, yes it’s more expensive BUT it looks as though the ring is made of plastic rather than metal (less chance of scratching), it will be more weighty just to take you phone of it one handed and finally it actually charges 3 devices at once rather than just 2...

But at this point I don’t even think I want to invest in this MagSafe BS, it’s got so many draw backs and is a seriously poor concept and very un-Apple to me. Every MagSafe product so far has had so many negative reviews already.
