If headphone makers want to control their headphones from an app they have to become a developer. If they don’t, no t&c needed because no dev agreement needed.

That’s the point overreaching government regulations now impinging on private citizens.
You do understand that apple is not a real person but a company that has 3rd parties on the platform so it’s not the same.

Companies change terms and conditions all the time from employees terms to business with other companies things change all the time and governments also bring in new legislation over the years on various different things so this is nothing new

Which should be their right to do. They built it. But in the EU your property isn’t yours if you’re a big American tech company.

Agree. I suspect the EU will lose more and more features as long as their government insists on giving away Apple’s innovations to its competitors for free. Like iPhone Mirroring.

Which is insane. Let the free market work EU!

The fact that Apple is required to give away its innovations to all is an affront to the free market that belongs in history, not the present day. No wonder the EU is a desert of innovation
Again with this free market nonsense and EU innovation
How can these 3rd parties innovate software features like that when said company wouldn’t allow it to happen on the platform
So how can it be achieved if Apple won’t allow it by deliberately not allowing this type of access to then give themselves an advantage?

Simple: dominant companies operating closed systems, withholding features/interoperability and acting anticompetitively by leveraging their power makes consumers pay more and stifles innovation in related markets.

It’s just undesirable from an economic and societal point of view.
You’ve never explained how Apple is stifling innovation in related markets when there’s an open competition. Why can’t competitors make great devices for Android? Why do they require Apple’s IP to do so?

Why are they invested - and distributing their products - in Europe anyway, when it’s supposedly such a hostile environment?
It wasn’t a hostile market to begin with.

If you and someone else (say @surferfb ) controlled 99% of the country’s housing stock, guy would I advocate for governments to regulate your business conduct and rental pricing!
28%. And the market leader is open and allows everyone to do what they want.

You win, you lose some.
Retro emulators, more affordable external purchases, user-friendly file transfer with Android, better media playback/mirroring options (from an iOS device to other devices), better connectivity with non-Apple smartwatches. All enabled through EU regulation.
All enabled through theft, a disregard for the free market, and taking choices away from consumers because idiot bureaucrats who aren’t qualified to work at the Genius Bar think they know better than Apple.

They do it on the open competition’s platform or build their own. We shouldn’t take away Apple’s incentive to innovate and make them do R&D for everyone for free.

So how can it be achieved if Apple won’t allow it by deliberately not allowing this type of access to then give themselves an advantage?
On Android. Or their own platform. Or innovate on non-software solutions to make their products better - or figure out how to do it through the APIs Apple offers. Lots of options that don’t involve stealing IP.

People do make great devices for android but it’s not about that it’s about connectivity regarding the operating system that Apple controls full stop.

So how do you as a 3rd party make better connectivity with iOS if apple won’t allow it?
How can a company innovate when the platform maker won’t allow it but will for themselves

This simplicity can be a significant factor in attracting and retaining users
Apple ecosystem can create a form of "lock-in,"
and fans defend the ecosystem against criticism
That’s why apple won’t allow it

They make it on Android. Or they work with the standards body to make it a part of the standard. 3rd parties shouldn’t have a right to use Apple’s IP immediately, for free just because they want it. That is what discourages innovation.

Which is Apple’s right. They invented the platform, attracted the customers (in large part BECAUSE the closed nature made it safe and easy to use).

Android exists and has 72% of the market in the EU. Apple isn’t preventing anyone from innovating or making money by keeping their innovations exclusive to their products.

You keep saying innovation but how does a 3rd party have better connectivity on iOS if apple won’t allow it
So how do they do it without mentioning
Android how do they achieve it on iOS
So please enlighten me

Apple don’t want companies to have better connectivity on iOS or else they would have allowed it already

They don’t have a right to better connectivity (or any connectivity at all).

They can create a new technology and convince Apple to implement it. They can work with the Bluetooth standard body to get it incorporated into the standard. They can make it great on Android, advertise how much better it connects on Android, and use market pressure to get Apple to accept it.

Literally nothing Apple does prevents anyone from innovating.

Apple don’t want companies to have better connectivity on iOS or else they would have allowed it already
Which should be their right. They make the product, the software, and don’t have a monopoly.

No one has a right to Apple’s property.

You do understand laws apply to private citizens well.

Companies change t and c and governments enact terrible laws all the time. So this is nothing new.

It’s not up to Apple to determine how companies they don’t control can innovate. Apple is not responsible for the world. If you want to be a dev in apples ecosystem you can innovate with your digital assets. But it’s not up to Apple to enable Bose headphones to innovate.

😂😂😂😂😂😂 not stop people from innovating
How can a 3rd party innovate with better access to connectivity on ios if apple won’t allow it regardless

A closed ecosystem makes it harder for competitors to offer similar functionality and seamless integration, creating a barrier to entry for new players.

The enhanced experience and perceived value within the ecosystem can justify premium pricing for Apple products

In essence, Apple's defense of its ecosystem is a strategic business decision that underpins its market position, revenue streams, and long-term sustainability

That’s why they won’t allow it

It is not a 3rd party right to use any companies up form their own benefit unless granted.

And it should. This is apples intellectual property.

That’s a consumer view.

For sure. Apple developed all of their stuff, even if some assets were acquired.
That’s why they won’t allow it
The DMA is socialist laws at its heart and has everyone believing private company assets are there for the taking for anybody who wants it. This is why the wsj believes the eu is a technological desert.

The thing is your argument is not coming from a balanced perspective in regards to this topic

If you believe that the DMA is socialist laws at its heart then why would apple not allow 3rd parties to develop better access to iOS if they wanted to in the first place.

What does this mean apple’s eco System
Why do you keep mentioning it like your defending it from criticism

Companies can’t innovate if said platform owner won’t allow because it will hurt their products

My take is fairly balanced. What isn’t balanced are the comments on how Apple is a public utility.

Non sequitor. The DMA being socialist and Apple dev policies are two different things.

Are you sure you’re balanced because you
Use terms like the Apple ecosystem and how it’s apple’s platform if they don’t like it go elsewhere that’s not balanced in your approach.

Do you think GM, Tesla and Rivian are harming innovation by prohibiting Android Auto and CarPlay from working in their cars?

I use public transport
So I can’t really comment
However I assume that there is more than two car companies out there

As a balanced as blaming Apple for Bose lack of knnocstion

Just like there are more than two cell phone companies.
