There are more than two phone companies out there.
I have no idea what you’re talking about so is there multiple different manufacturers like ford or Honda and Kia and Tesla do they run on the same software or are they made by different companies completely not relying on two companies to operate it at some point.
I take public transportation so I don’t know about cars?

As a balanced as blaming Apple for Bose lack of knnocstion

Just like there are more than two cell phone companies.
I don’t even know what knnocstion is?

Yes there are more than two cell phones companies out there however not major OS’s

But more than two cell phone companies and more than two app stores.
What do you mean by more than two cell phone companies can you elaborate
Because that’s a general statement?

Yes you can get the iOS App Store
And the play store and I believe you can get the Samsung App Store if you have heard of that?
However one UI is Samsung’s skin of android if you know that and is built on top of android so essentially the Samsung store is on top of android

There are literally hundreds of manufacturers.

There are still more than two app stores was my point.

You have to be more specific can you give me examples of some names of these companies like for example Samsung and pixel? I don’t get what you mean

What point regarding App Stores are you trying to make you need to be more specific if you can?

Either prohibiting third parties from having the access to the features on your platform harms innovation or it doesn’t. (Spoiler alert: it doesn’t).

Samsung, Google, Motorola, Xiaomi, OnePlus/Oppo, Honor.

Side note, Samsung has a higher marketshare than Apple in the EU but Samsung isn’t a gatekeeper, presumably because Samsung uses Google’s OS for free.

If the EU really wanted to increase competition, making Google charge a reasonable price for Android would be a way to do it that doesn’t require preventing choice from end users who want a closed ecosystem. That would likely encourage Samsung to prioritize its own OS.

But the EU doesn’t actually care about competition - they’d be happiest if all the platforms were the same.

Oh does Samsung use android I didn’t know that I thought they used ONE UI and that was completely different from android so do all these manufacturers use a version of Android apart from Apple?

What so is the EU making apple let other phone makers use iOS on their devices like will I be able to use the Samsung s26 ultra with iOS software powering it?

I’ve never argued Samsung phones don’t use Android. But Android is open, manufacturers can tweak it to their liking, so to argue Apple should be forced to open up when it has 28% of the market is nothing more than the EU picking winners and losers.

That’s definitely the end point of the EU’s logic. How can Samsung compete with iPhone if it can’t offer iOS?!? Apple is denying Samsung the ability to compete - they deserve access to customers who prefer iOS!

So I will ask again what is the EU actually asking apple to give access to without using a generalisation example?

You don’t think that the galaxy fold is a better device than apple’s version or the galaxy flip is better than apple’s version?
Unless you think that apple’s versions of these devices are better than Samsung’s
Is that what you think

Here are a bunch of APIs (Apple’s Intellectual Property) the EU is demanding Apple open up. Practically writing the OS for them.

You don’t think that the galaxy fold is a better device than apple’s version or the galaxy flip is better than apple’s version?
I don’t think anything Samsung makes is better for my needs than the Apple equivalent at the moment. But under your/the EU’s logic, if I want a Galaxy Fold that runs iOS I deserve one and Apple is prohibiting Samsung from innovating by not giving iOS for free.

Samsung deserves access to those who prefer iOS. How is it any different than Bose deserving access to Apple’s pairing software?

That’s not my logic about Samsung running iOS maybe you should look it up starts with an SC

You said that Samsung can’t compete with Apple according to the EU
So i asked how good is apple’s version of the flip and the fold doing at the minute compared with apple’s version because surely if Samsung need a helping hand then apple’s would currently be better right now?

So your complaint is the EU is saying to apple to give companies access to the operating system because apple as a company won’t allow 3rd parties to have access to the tools for them to try it themselves but would rather be gatekeeper

There are literally hundreds of cell manufacturers. Are you asking for a non-exhaustive list?

Exactly. The term gatekeeper is synonymous with socialism. And only came into being after the DMA. Referring to a term being defined circular logic.

So do you know what socialism is by giving me an example
To see if I know where you are going with this?

So I’m asking for some names of these cell
Manufacturers to see what OS they are using and to see what it is your getting at?

All of these ideas have been discussed in multiple threads across various posts probably numbering in the thousands.

Let’s say I agree with Apple here.
So don’t say multiple cell manufacturers and when I ask you to name some of the companies to see what OS they are using
Your now walking it back

I think if there’ll is some input then make the point. I don’t have to answer a question because you asked it.

The thread title is saying the DMA interoperability rules are bad. Comments?

Because buddy your raging at this and I’m trying to figure out why you’re so raging
At this because nobody is asking apple to give away hardware or let Samsung put iOS on their devices.
If all this is about better connectivity to the OS then I don’t understand what the problem is

I’m trying to figure out why you find this type of legislation good. But there is no forum requirement to respond in any particular way except within the rules.

Why is this legislation so good when you can buy a product that works like this out of the box?
