thank you. the kids here dont seem to get software.Anyone with a technical background knows that blaming Craig, Tim, or anyone else for these types of issues is a waste of time. This is technology. Sometimes bad things happen. You can try really hard to mitigate them, but it isn't as simple as people make it out to be.
Could Apple be better? Sure. Do we need to call for someone's head every time there's a glitch? No.
What were they expecting? Not only a waste of time but stupid, showing a lack of common sense understanding.
Stuff happens that is difficult to test during beta. Like having 50+ million people (I'm making that number up, could be more, or less) trying to simultaneously download the update over the air.
User responsibility for what? Apple released an official update that their phones inoperable, which is not corrected by Apple's "fix" since that only addresses updates made after the fix. What did those users do wrong exactly?
It always happens, I've never downloaded anything Apple has done immediately, and I'm pretty glad I haven't.
Update your iTunes to the latest version. What OS are you using?I can't even restore to factory settings... after 50 % of extracting the software I get the message "could not find the device" and a link to an Apple support page that tells me to "update my computer" … lol.
Ideas?
Servers are getting pounded now. Should ease up by this evening or tommorrow morning.
I love how much Apple downplays serious issues. I'm sure for those "small number of users", having a completely unusable phone for hours is nothing minor. Especially those that weren't able to connect to their computer via iTunes to restore it.
thank you. the kids here dont seem to get software.
also, things were an order of magnitude less complex in the earlier days of iOS...of course there are more wonky variables and test cases now.
same here. Just have keep trying til the software download works. A little patience will save time in the long run.OK, update
After 4 tries, update finally worked and all my data is there. As someone else said, keep trying, it will probably work.
30 years working in tech as an engineer designing and no matter how well you plan and test and remember the old issues, something new comes up. You can do after action reviews and be 100% certain you have it covered and still something else comes up.thank you. the kids here dont seem to get software.

Simple. They didn't wait.
I can't speak for others, but for me, the whole point of using Apple products is for this sort of thing NOT to happen. That is the big reason I am willing to pay a higher price. If Apple can't get their act together, then I will simply cease to use their products. It's now getting to the point where updating the software with operating systems like Android and Windows is less problematic than upgrading Apple products.Nothing will change. This is the Cook era, not the Jobs era. At this point, you should assume devices will get bricked on launch day. Just think of it as part of the annual iPhone launch festivities.
Anyone with a business background knows that the person at the top needs to take responsibility for putting the right people in the right places below to bring about success in any endeavor. This is business. There is no room for people who drop the ball repeatedly. You can give them a few chances, but at some point you have to stop, regroup, and find someone who can complete the task to the standard required.
Could Apple find someone who is better equipped to put the right people in the right places? Sure. They had one at one time.
It used to be perfectly fine to upgrade iOS on the go. That was the whole point of having over the air updates.I don't try changing a flat tire while I'm driving the vehicle (even if some people do).
There are some things it's safe to do "on the go". I'd say updating your operating system to a major revision isn't one of them.
I have never had that issue with upgrades. Not enough people get this. (Either not long time Apple users , or itchy trigger finger for latest of the latest)
In all fairness, thank you to everybody who does upgrade immediately.
BTW: The last few upgrades everything was set back to th eApple defaults and I had to redo all my settings.
Wish they could just import existing settings.
[doublepost=1473799438][/doublepost]I downloaded iOS 10. Can i install it or i should delete this and dowbload again???
In a statement given to BuzzFeed's John Paczkowski, Apple says the issue that was causing iOS 10 updates installed over-the-air to fail on some iPads and iPhones has been resolved, making it safe to resume iOS 10 downloads.Shortly after iOS 10 was released, a number of people who attempted to install iOS 10 using an over-the-air download saw their installation fail, effectively bricking devices until plugged into iTunes for an update or restore. For people who are not near a computer or who do not own one, this is a significant problem.![]()
Users who were already affected by the problem will need to continue on with the restore process using a computer, but new users who attempt to install the update should not run into the problem.
Apple recommends creating a backup before installing any new iOS update, and those worried about having the install fail can instead download the update through iTunes, an installation method that has not been affected.

There are a lot more people than 3 with iTunes down. I signed out hoping it would fix the problem and am getting errors signing back in. Yet another Apple screw up.3???? Lol!!!!! That's a lot???? That's extreme minority. Mine works as I type this
