To Apple. Small number is 10 Million of the 200 million Apple devices eligible for this update. Thats a fact.

Update bricked my phone. It seemed to finish installation and then the screen when black. When I pressed power the connect to iTunes logo came up. Attached to iTunes, downloaded 9.3.5, and now it's recovered. Not downloading iOS 10 anymore since this will be traded in for the 7 on Friday.
how does one download 9.3.5? I would like to try that if my 3rd time fails

Thank you very much Apple for fixing the problem after messing up my phone... Cant thank you enough.

3 hours later issue finally resolved. Just successfully reinstalled. Jesus

I hate to be that person, but Apple needs to say that X software comes out at 9am on a given date. So NZ, Aus, etc start downloading earlier than other contries so slowly across the day the obvious huge amounts of downloads are spread out over the day, which is less stress on the servers. Some of the faults with the download not working is probably down to the file not downloading 100% correctly, probably due to huge download traffic off the server.

Looks like the new iPhone 7 / 7s owners will be doing an update right . out . of . the . box ... yep 10.0.1

Yeah, God forbid something should be usable once it's released. No, no, that's asking too much!

haha.. yes... no software "just works", but Apple's tagline is that... so we all believe it must be true.... Truth is, that's far from it. If i could say the same about all software, then there would be nothing to fix.

In fact iPhoto had the same problem on Mac.. the old one... Apple rushed an update out in 24 hours because u couldn't even open the application. Was one of the early versions..

My understanding is it was the *distribution* of the release that was affected, not the release itself. So it was 100% usable, but getting it was the problem.

Enjoy your upgraded device. Here's a :)

Actually I kind of like having a bricked iPhone. No calls or texts for a while--good to unplug. God knows I won't elect to do it, but if it's forced on me, can be nice :p

Then just go sue. Spare us the histrionics.
My post did not qualify as histrionics.

For those who are still having trouble resolving this issue:
If you are unable to update or restore thru iTunes it's because the software servers are overloaded. You probably guessed that already. I just talked to Apple support and they confirmed that we'll have to wait until things slow down a bit before the iTunes update will work. So the good news is yes, it's fixed. The bad news is we can't actually access the fix for a little while.

A lot of people are missing the mark in here.

There seems to be a lot of people completely blaming the user, as if having a bricked phone is somehow their fault just because they chose to take advantage of an update that Apple offered. On the other hand, other people are blowing their gaskets over a temporary issue that is already fixed.

Yes, this is a problem. No, it's not a big deal.
