If this is "normal..."will they reject a warranty claim if someone send one in for repair (bend)?

yup every thread.........there are couple of others too same MO.
A bend out of the box is definitely a defect. That's why you get 2 weeks to return the product after you created your click bait YouTube videos and get your money back. No drama!
iPad Pro 2018 are thin products, which is one of the things I love about them. Now I get it that people are thick enough to dumb them in rucksacks with a heavy load and stuff. Laws of physics do apply here (iPad pro are not exempt) Breakable things do break, bendable things do bend. Don't care what YouTube "stars" who generate fortune by targeting Apple products to create the next "Gate" will tell you. MacRumors is not different either. Titles like the one above give them a hell lot of clicks and comments (as it clearly has in this case)

I agree that I don't expect it to bend in my regular use. It's my favorite and most used device by a mile. But I think it's unacceptable that Apple thinks we should accept a bend IPad right out of the box. One of the reasons to pay the Apple premium has always been how beautiful their products are made. But it's not even that...it's the hubris that they think they can get away with this...

What if it's a gift? Now I have to make sure I don't buy any family members an iPad more than a few days before they're going to open it? Makes Christmas kinda difficult.

Normally, the Apple Store — online and retail — offers a 14-day return policy on any item sold. For the holidays, the company has expanded this window: If an item was purchased between November 14 and December 25, 2018 you have until January 8, 2019 to return or exchange it.

I suspect other large retailers have similar return policies for the holidays. This is not unique to Apple or to electronics. What if you buy a coat for someone as a gift and it doesn't fit? Or, they don't like the color? Or, they already have the exact same thing, but you never saw it on them?

I feel like we are grasping at straws trying to make a problem out of something that has a simple solution.

What I don't like is the nonchalant attitude expressed by Apple about something that is clearly a QC issue. They spend huge amounts of effort just trying to make the unboxing experience pleasing, and then to be so dismissive about the customer finding a bent device......that I don't like.

Apple is clearly in Tim Cook's era. Tim Cook has served his customers, the investors well, but he has forgotten who are the real customers that is funding all this. Tim needs to go.
Tim Cook's era where Apple has reached 1 trillion dollars in market valuation, and is the most successful it's ever been by a large margin.

hahaha what???? - Apple really squeezing every penny to deny users with bent iPads a replacement this is too much, Tim Cook needs to be fired.
Tim Cook needs to be fired for making Apple break records in financial success?

It's a feature not a fault™!

Apple deserve to have its share plunging lately, and apologist deserve such products.

I am literally dumbfounded by this. Apple is now just making up excuses at this point.
They have been doing that for a long time... "You are holding it wrong..."

But apologist always help them ;)

They offered the bumpers for a few weeks but didn’t recall the phone or change the design until the 4S. Also, they never admitted the G4 Cube overheated, or that the original MacBook Air frequently shut off a processor core to avoid overheating. They just quietly updated future designs.

If you put the bumper on it more or less fixed the issue so why would they recall the phones? Didn’t they have class action law suites raised against them? I’m afraid I took no notice of the G4 cube and never heard of the Air shutting off.

On top of charging more for this year ipad pro...Apple is telling their customers "you see that bend there its normal." o_O

But this is what get's me (and by any means, this comment is not aimed at you) You absolutely should not except a bend iPad! You should return it back and Apple will refund your money. I have sent back the HomePod which had no issues, after 10 days and got my money back - no questions asked! From what I have seen, Apple does have one of the best, painless return policy. A bend iPad out of the box is not normal, of course. If Apple claims it is normal for the iPad to come bend from the factory, in the sealed box, then they are crazy wrong!

So they WON'T replace a bent iPad? Are they for real?

Calm down and don't get all your panties in a bunch. I'm sure if you buy an iPad Pro and it's bent, you can just go back to the store and exchange or return it without any issues, problem solved.

Well they’re currently down 30% from that record high and I reckon it’ll be going down even more.

I’m sure he took loads of credit and bonuses for getting it to $1T, does he suffer anything for losing 30%? I didn’t think so.

The new iPads are nice and I was looking at them but not after reading this. We deserve a better product and support for that price.

New iPad Pro is 1000 Euro almost. Are you crazy apple? I’m not going to buy anything until this bull crap nonsense is resolved. Not going to pay that much money for a ****ing boomerang and listen it’s normal.

I’m sure you heard if a bloke called Steve Ballmer

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Ballmer

An excellent example of why record financial success is not a measure of how well one runs a company - Cook looks to be apples version of Ballmer
