If apple tested the phones, why did so many users end up with a completely useless phone, or have you forgotten the awful ios update debacle ?

I don't recall this. Of what update do you speak?

I recall:
the iPhone 4 antenna issue and "bendgate"

The antenna issue was an issue albeit a remedied one but bendgate was a joke.

You seem to have selective amnesia. Seek medical help.

The 6+ is a crippled device because of 1gb of RAM. Don't see how people claim they do not experience reloads unless they use 6+ as a dumbphone. Just an example from today: had a post on Twitter written - switched to safari to find and download a picture, go back to Twitter. Reload. Lose all my text. /rage

Streaming over spotify while browsing media heavy sites causes extreme stuttering.

Safari tab reloads are absolutely atrocious as well. And diagnostics page in settings is absolutely flooded with low memory events.

Unlike the rest of the civilised world !

Oh ya that. Barely a blip on the radar as far as Apple fails go. Didn't affect my iPhone 6 at all. While it affected some people, as usual, any negative press on Apple is regarded as doomsday pandering. Like bendgate this was a

Ill probably be hated for saying this but 2gb ram should have been standard on the 6 plus... I bet apple knew it stutters - but decided to put 2gb ram in ipad Air 2 (which flies in terms of performance) but alas now the iphone 6s plus is out soooooooo more money to them...

PS - I sold my iphone 6 plus due to this!
I wouldn't say they screwed you over. They just made the proper improvements.

I don't think you got the point
It's not about having new phones being more powerful than the previous ones. It's about apple intentionally cheaping out on the hardware. The fact is, whether you people accept it or not, the 6Plus did not receive adequate GPU nor RAM to drive all the graphic downscaling that it's doing.

I think I see what you're saying but I think that is the business model of all industry leaders. Intel probably has faster chips that could be produced now, but they choose to sell their "slower" ones now so they can get us to upgrade to the "faster" ones later on. It's about making money and sustaining their profits. If we had a choice we would want the best products for the cheapest prices now. But since that isn't going to happen we have to research what's being sold at the moment and decide whether of not to buy. It's ok to complain, but it probably won't change much of anything.

The 6 Plusses are gimped, mine included, but hard to justify a jump right now, IMO.

Not going to lie, due to reasons discussed I've considered selling mine and jumping on the upgrade program.

My 6+ works better on 1GB Ram, than my Note 4 did on 3GB Ram.

I just love the people who claim their 6+ doesn't stutter or reload safari tabs. Fact is, it does. It's the iPad 3 of iPhones. Extremely underpowered.
It's often a pain BECAUSE IT DOESN'T RELOAD tabs. Every forum I have open such as smallnetbuilder, avsforums, macrumors, and a few more, never reload when switched to them so I'm constantly having to hit the reload button.

And yes I submitted feedback I want my tabs to reload when switched to them because that also affects sites like the front page of macrumors because if you don't hit reload then it looks like there hasn't been any updates.

Maybe it's just me but I also did a fresh install on my 6 Plus

Since apple specifically fine tunes the OS to the hardware and controls both hardware and software then it doesn't matter as much as it does for other companies.

On a technical side Apple is extremely efficient regarding how they use the ram. Some flagship phones have been shipping with 3GB of Ram and yet the iPhone with just 1GB runs just as good for 99% of people.

My 6+ 128G works fine And has for a year. If you want a power house and real "stutter" issues, switch to Android. They'll make a honest man out of you.

Why is the reload issue iPhone 6 plus only and not 6? Same phone different screen size?

Also why would anybody need 20 tabs open? Try that on a PC and even will make or laggy or crash. I close my tabs after a few. Remember the days before Tabs like iOS 4? Much better. iPad 1 is was perfect in Safari.

I love how people moan about RAM people got the 6 for the larger screen sizes. To the average consumer nobody cares about RAM it's not even on the specs. And as some pointed out IOS is so efficient every year it seems fast and snappy in the shops. It only becomes laggy with future IOS updates usually if you own the phone for 2-3 years. I am sure IOS9 will run as good as 8 on the 6 especially given Apple stretched it another year and gave IPad 2 another update.

Perhaps IOS 10 will be a big update at which time the 6 will be two years old like the 5S today and people might update.

You're right. The average user doesn't care about RAM. They care about smoothness and usability. But you know what?

With only 1gb of ram, the smoothness and usability is severely degraded versus a theoretical 2gb of ram in the same system.

So in the end, the average consumer does unknowingly care about ram.

Stopped reading after your first sentence. You clearly have no clue what you are talking about so stop embarrassing yourself.

6+ stuttered a lot until iOS 8.4, they did a lot of work optimising it and now it runs really smooth - in terms of reloading, iOS works by just pausing any app not in use, so no huge difference regarding ram, even if it has to reload its a couple of seconds. Also I doubt split screen is coming to the iPhones and haven't noticed that announced, that is something that would require 2GB ram
