Bummer. My late 2013 iMac doesn't make the cut. Like another poster, I was hoping to use this machine for a little longer. I will have to be honest that I was planning on upgrading/replacing it, I guess now with Apple leaving me off on Catalina well, I will have to speed this process up greatly.

9.5GB!

No way. I have a 2014 MacBook Pro I was going to install this on just to mess around and see what's new. Guess I can't :(
OP is wrong.
Late 2013 MacBook Pros are supported, so yours should be. I’m installing it on my Mid 2014 15” at the moment (although I have base model with integrated graphics, ugh).

No more support for Nvidia equipped Macs. Those are now stuck with the buggy Catalina. Not sure if I approve that. I maxed out a late ‘13 27” iMac. Hoping for being able to use it for at least 10 years. Guess I can say goodbye to that.

My Macbook Pro late 2013 is offering me the update and according to the Big Sur Preview, MacBook Pros from Late 2013 onwards support 11.0....

Would it have airplay 2 as main output to use stereo homepods as main output

For the public beta we should be able to create a partition with disk utility to install on right? Is there a guide to do this without losing all or your existing data?

Once you download it you can make a bootable USB (at least 16GB, named initially as Untitled) with this command:

sudo /Applications/Install\ macOS\ Beta.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/Untitled

It is likely this command will change in beta 2 when it may include the name Big Sur.

Normally Beta 1's are nameless and go with a number. This time the command doesn't have a number either.

Could be 11.0 but more likely 10.16 so far. It might change to 11 in beta 2
