Once you download it you can make a bootable USB (at least 16GB, named initially as Untitled) with this command:

sudo /Applications/Install\ macOS\ Beta.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/Untitled

It is likely this command will change in beta 2 when it may include the name Big Sur.

Normally Beta 1's are nameless and go with a number. This time the command doesn't have a number either.

Could be 11.0 but more likely 10.16 so far. It might change to 11 in beta 2

Thank you! Seems easy enough

Big Sur? Is that a mountain in San Francisco or is short for Big Surprise?

Wake me up when they fixed Mail because even after 1 year of Catalina it still crashes every hour.

Also, have they fixed the extremely outdated notification banners now?

Nope, BS as in B..Sh..

I can't install Big Sur my Macs, so BS.
one of my macs was sold up until 2016, a 2014 Mac Mini is supported while my mac MBP which was still sold until november 2016 is not.😫

There doesn't appear to be a reason the 2012 MBP wouldn't work with Big Sur, except for maybe the WiFi card. I'm not going to say you should try it or not (since running an unsupported macOS version turns it into a hackintosh according to the license agreement), but I think it will work.

I guess I just have to wait for a hack, or just fiddle with the installer myself, most of the time it's just a .plist edit away from being able to install this on unsupported Macs.

You are clever, I didn't even mention my Model, yes, it's the 2012 model, was sold up until 2016.

They dropped support for all NVIDIA GPUs. There's your reason ;)

Nope. MBP Late 2013 has NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M.
My bad. Thanks for the correction. Wi-Fi card it is. For those 2012 MBP users, here's where to go:

Apple's most successful longest selling MacBook Pro. :) Still love mine.

Huh, there's no Nvidea GPU in the 2012 13" MBP.

The 15" models do.

Someone knows the minimum specs? :p
Go to Apple.com, click learn more off the Big Sur splash and then scroll down to the bottom of the page. 2012 and 2013 iMacs are left out, so is the 2012 MacBook Pros and 2012 Mac mini, in relation to what Catalina supported.

No more support for Nvidia equipped Macs. Those are now stuck with the buggy Catalina. Not sure if I approve that. I maxed out a late ‘13 27” iMac. Hoping for being able to use it for at least 10 years. Guess I can say goodbye to that.
2013 and 2014 MacBook Pros have NVIDIA GT750M, so yes they are.

Yawn! There, someone had to say it!

I laughed aloud when Craig Federighi showed off the “brand new” icons and redesign! Looked indistinguishable from the same old, same old. These OS upgrades are a solution in search of a problem. In fact, they typically introduce problems — and break apps!

Why not fix all the bugs — and go back to the basics — resurrect the Human Interface Guidelines and ensure consistency, logical functionality, and transparency throughout the system, the apps, etc.?

Now that would be an upgrade I'd jump at.

I suppose there'll be a greater commonality between iOS 14 and Big Sur, but within both there's incredible inconsistency across apps, even Apple's own, and issues in the interface, hidden controls one has to guess at, and even Windows x's for close boxes!

The repositioning of the Reply-Forward button in iOS Mail away from the other controls is still downright bizarre and illogical; as is the requirement to press and hold to get the Reader in Safari. Press and hold should bring up options, a single tap should be the direct action as it is elsewhere. So, mirroring iOS isn't so smart, either!

Oh, well! Bring back Jobs and “one more thing”!
