I read somewhere that the memory leaks are solved in 12.1. This would be my main concern, because it slows down your computer in time and drain the battery faster. Still waiting on my MB Pro M1 Max, so I really would like this to be solved. Also waking up external monitors is an issue, where it sometimes will not, or take a long time.

I really do not understand why there must be a new version of macOS every single year. Why not perfecting a version and release a new version every 2 to 3 years?

You can still add features in a single version, you know...

Tap to click is working properly now on my other 16-inch MacBook Pro that I run beta's on. This one I hadnt used other desktops, and just added one and swiping between is hit or miss. The first few tries will quit about halfway through and revert back to the original desktop, then it will work 5 or 6 times, and then revert back to the desktop I'm trying to swipe away from.

My M1 Mac mini still will not find the update, any ideas?
not just me then , happy days lol. Mine pulled down a 12.4gb file and started to install the full retail copy then got stuck at 52min remaining and stayed there for hours. It now will not pull down anything , but thanks for that I was panicking that it was just my machine as it's only 14 days old !

I don't give ten craps about SharePlay. Fix the bugs that should've been fixed prior to launch. Up the quality control. Stop releasing major new macOS releases on an annual schedule. Make an OS that doesn't have serious bugs in it at launch. Release it when it is ready for things like SharePlay AND is stable enough to reduce the number of articles that (get written about it that) apologists deem to be clickbait.

No one using a Mac is so impatient for a new version of macOS that they can't wait for months longer for it to be more polished and stable, especially when they release on an annual schedule.

Amazing post. I couldn’t agree more.

Anyone installed this and now found Safari seems to hang.. I can try and scroll down a page and it takes 10 seconds to actually do anything..

Same for me... I'm not able to update.

Saw that too. Closing safari and then Reopening all Windows from Last Session seems to fix it. Not ideal but less frustrating :)

Tap to click is fixed, but the issue regarding the 3/4 finger swipe to switch desktops is not resolved. When I swipe left to go right, it still often bounces back mid-animation and usually ends up going one desktop to the left instead of the right. I have not observed this bug when swiping right aka. switching to the desktop on the left interestingly.
By the way, the Magic Mouse/Magic Trackpad/MacBook Trackpad have all the same problems. especially in fullscreen programs, this is annoying everyone.

I don’t get how it’s not a P0 issue.

If this was in my companies product we’d be working around the clock to sort this for customers.

It’s too fundamental. It’s unacceptable.
I had a preview memory leak with 3d models a while back under big sure if I remember right… took then forever to fix it :(

It isn't fixed for me, I have the memory issue with safari, but its still causing issues, the memory usage just keeps going up and it uses 100% CPU all the time, suck my battery down really quickly :(

I guess this makes the article from an hour or so ago obsolete…
I hope tap to click is fixed, I will download the public beta ASAP, but if that is not fixed, I’m gonna roll back to Big Sur.
Been on the public beta since July but this bug introduced recently has been driving me nuts
Coulda sworn there was a known-issue in one of the patch notes about it, forgot which one it was though ?

I have T-Mobile as my cellular service Provider. This update may have broken the "Upgrade to Wi-Fi Calling" feature in FaceTime on both my M1 Devices (MBA and Mini). As you may know, This feature allows Mac devices to make and receive calls even the iPhone is not nearby. Currently, after this update only normal Wi-Fi Calling works when the device makes a call using my iPhone. Anyone else? T-Mobile only issue?
