Seems a bit odd that the iPhone 4 never lost the 3G on/off toggle, but the 4S never had it to begin with.

It's due to Verizon. The Verizon iPhone 4 never had the toggle switch, and the 4S is a world phone so it has Verizon capibilities so it didn't have it. I'm assuming their CDMA network can't flip it off?

Verizon iPhone 4S's still may not have it...it may be ATT iPhone 4S's only.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9B5127c Safari/7534.48.3)

In my case the phone is reporting fake usage. One of Apples daemons is preventing the Phone sleeping so the usage & standby times are going up on step despite me not using the phone.

This means if I don't use the phone at all, it's on Wifi, no calls or anything it had at most 24 hours standby life.

Ive seen the power logs, I know the battery itself is okay and in those logs I have seen the mstreamd process preventing the 4S sleeping from anything from 15 minutes to 33 hours.

Have you submitted this as a bug report? Apple.com/feedback

I actually think we'll see iOS 5.1 released first week of March which, I predict, is the approximate time iPad 3 will be announced. But hey, I could be wrong.
Pretty sure those are two separate/different things.

Again, even years-old basic feature phones had the ability to just use 1X (and thus disable EV-DO/3G). Kind of sad that it's not available on the iPhone.

I'm away from my laptop all day. As anyone else out there seeing the "unable to Check for Update" error message or is it something on my end?

If you refer to my earlier posts on page 1, I was having the same problem. I did a hard reset on my phone using the home and sleep buttons then once it rebooted it updated fine.

In my opinion the battery indicator on the 4S is way off. I used it the other day for another half hour on 1% while my 4 always shut off as soon as it hit 1% almost immidiately

Limitation of Verizon, or something very similar is the exact reason cited by Apple in a previous bug report I saw a while back around release date.

We definitely need filters in Mail, a pain in the butt otherwise...
I have 5 different email accounts on my iPhone, ranging from work, website, general, etc.
I'm surprised that there still isn't an option to have account-specific email signatures! :(

huh? Is there even "0%". My 3G always turned off between 1-2% my 4 as soon as it hit 1% but my 4S still goes on for a while on 1% for some reason
I'm not sure if there's an actual 0%, but my iPhone lasts about 10 mins after hitting 1% so I'm assuming it officially dies when it hits the theoretical "0%"

You really think it will be that long!? I was hoping for the release sometime around now...I didn't even expect a 3rd beta.

i wouldn't be surprised if it's not released until march, in time for a new iPad.....

I do nothing exceptionally power consuming. For example, yesterday I was browsing (twitter, Reeder) over WiFi and boom: 9% gone in about 20 minutes. The day before that, I was viewing some NYE pictures and boom: 8% gone in about 15 minutes.

With four units already on my tally with more or less similar performance, I really need to know if 5.1 fixes this to more acceptable percentages.

And yes, I am willing to give developers my UDID for that

my 4S is nowhere close to being like that, neither has my other half's or my brothers, i unplug at 6am, it's 9pm now and i'm at 35%. maybe there's some app you've got that's screwing things up? who knows.

ja true but the indicator still seems way off on the 4S. I can literally watch it drop between 100-80% yet around 20-0% its starting to seems to drop way slower

5.1 will be make or break for me whether or not I'll return the 4S. Four different units give me a battery life time of 5 hours maximum.

I don't want to able to delete photostream pictures: I want my new phone to last about as long as my old phone did.

Aint gonna happen. Much faster GPU and fast cpu will not yeild same battery as the 4.

Question

I am a current developer and I do not see any IOS Betas to download. Only Xcode from November. Help?

Has anyone with an iPad checked to see if they put playback speed control back in Music?

Here are my gripes that I hope get fixed:

FaceTime..... I use FaceTime every day since my fiancé lives in Canada. The problem with FaceTime is, at times calls go through, at times they don't. At times I can make calls, at times I can't. Its just an inconsistent annoyance that I go through. i've also seen flickering which made it seem as tho I was in a club.

iMessage..... this thing is s l o w and at times it doesn't send the messages. It isn't slow all the time, but 1 of 3 messages that I send, which is completely nerve wrecking to sit there and watch the message being sent, come back 5 minutes later and it still hasn't been sent.

Also in regards to iMessage, when hitting the tab from the notifications pull down to switch back to iMessage, it crashes my iPhone 4s sending me back to the lock screen. Seriously? I expect this from others not from Apple.

Adding groups to Contacts. Why can't we do this from within the phone? extremely annoying that I need to do this through my computer.

And of course the most important of all....

BATTERY LIFE!!!!

This is my first iPhone, and I love it overall, but the battery life is a great disappointment. I don't use it for much. I send 1 quick short text, might listen to half an hour to 45 minutes of music, and I'm already at 60% and this is during my first 1 hour of work!!!!! I'm restricted to what I can do for the rest of the day.

I've done everything possible to solve all of these issues, since I don't want to return it. System restore, network restore, software re-install, hard boot, DFU Mode you name it I've done it. And I'm still plagued by these annoying issues.

And I haven't even talked about Sprint's horrible speeds and connection. Issues that both Sprint and Apple are both aware of, but neither will take any of the blame with both pointing the finger at each other.

Please Apple, I hope you fix these issues.

the facetime and imessage issues mostly sound like signal related issues to me. tho the flicker, is that on the front camera? i've noticed a flicker on mine like it flicks darker, random glitch whist seems to go if you flick to back camera then to front, i've reported the bug, it seems to be a known bug. sprint's horrible speeds and connection are sprint's fault, so why would apple take blame for that?! lol. as for your usage, i do way more than that before hitting 60%

What I would REALLY like is a switch to turn off the cellular network entirely and just use Wi-Fi (examples: college classes, airplanes that offer WiFi). Sometimes Airplane Mode cuts you off a little TOO much.

You can still use WiFi in airplane mode.

This is true. Sometimes my 4S lasts 20 minutes at 1%, sometimes 2 minutes.
