Inclusion of push API service is bad. It means we probably won't see this update hit until September (although the 2.0.1 update will probably be released before then). Apple will want to hold it for as long as they can.

Perhaps the fact that they are no longer getting monthly payments from carriers means iPhone 3G users will have to pay for upgrades. This would also give them reason to issue updates less frequently.

God damn SabOx!

Yes, yes you are. For instance, say someone sends you an eBay auction number via AIM or TXT or something and you just want to copy the long number into the search box on ebay.com. Oh..... too bad.. no copy and paste you're screwed. Now you have to either find a piece of paper and write it down or ask the person "nicely" if they could please send you a link to the auction via email so you can hopefully click on it.

Why on god's green earth would someone be so dim-witted as to send you an auction number and not a link to the auction. That's retarded.

No offense, of course :)

I was surprised to see that as I traveled, the google map didn't follow me - I just drove off the page. That seems like an easy fix. I wonder if at&t requested no copy/paste as we could then use that to paste flash based links through sites that do the converting, thus driving bandwidth use up. Anyone?:)

I don't what I can and can't say because of the NDA but I can tell you that some of the things said are true and some are not. :p They give a PDF with API updates and I am very happy with what I'm seeing...even though (hint) I don't have a 3G so one of the big ones wont help me. :D

I really want to try out the new features BUT if I upgrade I can't release apps to the store and I can't rollback. Sucky.

in case you didn't know that's ALREADY AN OPTION ON THE IPHONE... tap an image and hold your finger there for a second.

:D

Its just a damn shame that instead of SAVING the image AS-IS, it compresses the **** out of it and in most cases even resizes it... Hence making saving images to use as wallpaper is well... useless

Edit: Oh yes, also GIVE ME BACK THE ABILITY TO USE IT AS A FLASH DRIVE AS YOU COULD WITH EVERY SINGLE FREAKIN IPOD!!!!

say hello to another step towards Nike sport 3G iPhone apps and turn by turn location. It'd be interesting to see if google uses the vector data to smooth out. Google maps location tracking between gps polling or on dodgy signal area

Another point would be to see how fast the sdk is going to continue to develop at this pace

At InkMaster - it's about supporting that within a bigger framework I'd imagine. It won't be done piecemeal. In thenmeantime thee is already an app for that.

Pressing the GPS "target" in the lower left corner will toggle the "keeping your GPS location in the center of the map" on and off. If it's lit up blue the map will move as you move - not lit up and you can pan around or you'll "drive off the map".

... Its saddening when I have to wait for 30 seconds for something like NYT to load when it loads in 1.5 seconds on the desktop

I think it's pretty good considering the CPU,

try putting the iPhone CPU into your desktop and see how long the NYT takes to load.

better yet, try loading the full page on a RIM device if possible.

As others have said, I would just like more stability and faster responsiveness and I will be happy :D

iPhones CPU is 412mhz is it not? NYT takes about 5 seconds to load on my 350mhz Dell Optiplex running TinyXP...

But yes, its even more painful on Blackberries, WinMo etc...

I'm not saying its "bad" but theres definitely tons or room for improvement...

The joke is "Safari seems snappier."

I know the joke, I (and others obviously) didn't understand if the original two posters were serious or full of ****

Both very good points. When I saw the crapped out version of the photo I thought I was saving, I was so irritated. Like, it's such a convenience to save that image to the iphone and add it to your iphoto library when you connect your phone... instead, you pretty much have to navigate to the site that you got the picture from when you're at your computer again to get a decent version to save.

And yeah, I'm amazed that at this point, the iPhone still doesn't have "flash drive" capabilities... ugh.

COPY & PASTE

Why so obnoxious, because besides the basic necessity of having the feature, I'm convinced it is holding up programs like Docs to Go and PocketInformant because of the importance to their usability.

Core Location can do all this now. The new APIs just make it easier - i.e. you don't have to do the work yourself.

New Update 2.1

What I want in 2.1 is:

  • Copy and Past
  • No Lag
  • Turn By Turn GPS
  • World Domination By Apple
  • Crush Microsoft
  • Steve For President

OK so maybe some of those things are for 2.2 :)
