Yep those who think they are running the GM ahead of everyone else have to start all over again with a clean install :D

You won't get any software updates regardless. So unless you're happy to be stuck OS X 10.9.0 for the duration, you're wiping your machine and installing again.

You know, there is no need to be giddy about someone's demise. Most of the developers that are running Mavericks GM, we know that there is always the possibility of a new install.

Even a lumbering idiot who installed it for the hell of it from a torrent site is a potential beta tester... so who cares if they have to wipe and start clean...

not that they would have to. if you know how to make images, you know you can merge a deployment. So its really not that troublesome.

Just because you don't have your hands on it, doesn't mean you have to be an ass about it.

And this is why Apple should call these releases Gold Master Candidate instead of just Gold Master.

This also makes it very clear that tomorrow will just be an announcement of a release date and not the actual release.

Can anyone compare the Intel GPU driver between the two?

On my Retina when I wake it, sometimes has corruption on the bottom part of the LCD. This does NOT happen under 10.8, or builds up to DP 4 so I believe it's related to the video driver.

Except no.
I just made a new bootable USB with 603 and installed it right over 598 just fine.
Yeah it wasn't as quick as an AppStore update but it was far from a clean install.

Sorry to burst your bubble.

D.

How does this make it clear? Is it so impossible that this version was the final and will become publicly available tomorrow? I don't get this logic.

This build also appears to have pretty minor changes, as far as I've seen mail was updated and some missing help files were added. It seems to me that this build is in preparation for them to release it to the public. If there was any other major issues that they wanted to fix before release, surely they would have waited before spinning another GM to include such fixes. Spinning a GM to add a few help files just to update it again after would seem silly to me.

Can someone post a verified md5 and/or sha-1 from Apple site?

Also did anyone have problem with "slow" sleep (hibernate 0) at macbook pro (late 08) it should be immediate cause doesn't write anything to disk but it is not so fast...

603 still not dual link dvi compatible! MBP Retina i7

I got my hopes up for nothing.

The early GM and the 603 won't output a signal through my dual link DVI connector to either a 22" or the 30" apple cinema display on my retina MacBook Pro GT 650M...

Let's wait for another update...

hehe

People like me is on "13A598" - I just took the OS X 10.9 GM from our MIT Installers, since we've been testing this OS to make sure they work with our Applications. Looks like I need to ask them for the latest build!

I was really aiming my point at those who have been torrenting these builds illegally ahead of the official release. I do feel the pain of legitimate developers who thought they were good to go with the final release, and now have to build from scratch to make sure they are getting the same install as their clients/customers will receive.

99% of their customers will not be doing a clean install since they will be upgrading from 10.8. Only those who purchase a new computer after the official release will be a clean install unless someone on 10.8 decided to do a clean install.

Do you know for certain that your adapter is working?

ONLY WAY I SUCCEFULY CREATED AN USB INSTALLER FOR MAVERICKS IS FOLLOWING: http://9to5mac.com/2013/06/13/how-to-create-a-bootable-os-x-mavericks-usb-flash-drive-from-original-app-store-package/

Steps:

  1. You are going to need to see some hidden files for this. So start by opening Terminal.app and pasting in the following (don’t worry, we’ll undo this change when we are done)…
    Code:
defaults write com.apple.Finder AppleShowAllFiles YES && killall Finder
  2. Download the installer as normal from the app store. (At time of writing this is only possible for those with access to the developer previews).
  3. After download you will have the ‘Install OS X 10.9′ app in your /Applications folder. Right-click it and select ‘Show Package Contents’.
  4. Navigate to the Contents/SharedSupport. There you will see the InstallESD.dmg file. Unfortunately, you can’t just grab it and restore it. Instead double-click it to mount it.
  5. You should now see the normally hidden BaseSystem.dmg file in the mounted volume.
  6. Open Disk Utility and restore the source BaseSystem.dmg to the destination of your USB drive.
  7. Now open up the restored USB volume (default name is OS X Base System) and navigate to System/Installation. In there you will see an alias for Packages. Delete this alias.
  8. Copy the full Packages folder from the root of the mounted InstallESD volume (the same place you got the BaseSystem.dmg file) to the USB volumes System/Installation folder. Basically, replace the Packages alias you just deleted with the real Packages folder from the original InstallESD volume.
  9. The USB drive should now be bootable. So simply restart, hold down the Option key (Alt) when booting with the USB drive in your machine, and you should get the option to boot from the USB drive.
  10. Remember, to rehide the normall hidden files just repeat step 1 but change YES to NO.
    Code:
defaults write com.apple.Finder AppleShowAllFiles NO && killall Finder

True, it's possible that Apple could release a major OS update only two days after releasing it to testers. But let's all hope apple isn't that stupid.

Apple didn't release anything to testers. Apple didn't send mails to developers, nor have they updated their site to reflect the new build.
Apple just uploaded this new version to the Appstore and some guys found it by coincidence.

So do you think that means they're going to release 598? Or 603 without officially testing it at all?
