C'mon :apple:, unleash the beast!

My new nonscientific guess is between tomorrow (Tuesday) and the 4th of July!

Well it's late Tuesday afternoon here and it's not out - oh what a shame these things don't work with timezones :). I'll wake up one morning and find it has been released; just when that will be is the question of the day - whichever day it is!

10.5.7 might not even be out for another month. When it's here it's here.

Interesting post on AppleInsider blog.

It seems 10.5.7 has been released internally to Apple developers. The update should be made available for download this week according to the website.
Apple has finally wrapped up development of Mac OS X 10.5.7, which should be made available for download by the general public sometime this week.

A person familiar with the matter claims the update -- the seventh for the Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard operating system -- was released internally this week, meaning its available to Apple employees only at this time.

Why this update is so important (to me, at least)...

http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=9038759

If you're running 10.5.6, have a Time Capsule, and are using FileVault, your home directory is not backed up. How the heck 10.5.6 made it through QA and into release with that kind of bug baffles me.

I could see it making it through QA with a third-party drive connected to an AirPort, but, c'mon - Time Capsule is Apple's own product. You'd think they'd test that sort of thing.

Maybe Tuesday isn't the right day for a 10.5.7 release as most 10.5 releases were on Mondays. There was also one on Wednesday as well as one on Thursday.

According to AppleInsider blog release should be this week, so we probably should just wait for tomorrow or Thursday.

Maybe they're taking so long with this because it might be the last update for 10.5 ...

Yesterday (28th) we received this email from the computer guys her at my work place:

"Apple is gonna publish tomorrow MacOS X 10.5.7. As this version causes again a problem with our back up servers, we are testing (so far succesfully) a patch to crrect the problem with Apple's help.
We will inform you tomorrow of how to proceed with the installation. In the meanwhile, do not install this update."

So it seems it is going to be today when it is released.
Cheers

Also, 10.5.7 seems to be required to synchronize notes with the new iPhone OS 3.0 beta 4. As the new beta was published yesterday it seems plausible 10.5.7 would be released on Wednesday, today in my timezone.

Good ;)

Nice.

Anyone know what time of day they usually release these patches?

X11 version 2.3.3 was released on 23rd April and it wouldn't install unless you have 10.5.7 on your machine.

(I don't know why I quoted Macmel )

Cooommmmmeeee onnnnnnnnn update!

How much later is the Combo Updater released as opposed to the Software Update version?
