Leopard 10.5.0 was released at build 581.

If Apple keeps up progress on SL at an average rate of about one build a day, it looks like the build number on RTM likely will be 440-480. This gives Apple 2-4 weeks time to manufacture the disks in RTM phase before releasing Snow Leopard in September.

No new interface by then. SL has a code freeze-- no new features. Just performance improvements and tweaks.

mate, where did they announce a code freeze? the only things they've frozen are the API's - everything else can be improved given that they're now working with a stable footing.

Activity monitor will say Intel (64-bit) under Kind for Finder, launchd etc.

If that is the case then my MacBook and iMac must be in 64bit mode even though 2 of the 3 components of the graphics drivers are still 32bit - unless of course they're changed our the video drivers function in snow leopard.

No, not true.

The 32-bit kernel is perfectly willing to run 64-bit Finder, launchd, etc. You'll notice that if you run uname -a you'll see you're still on an i386 kernel.

the only app in iWork 09 that has the off center template page is Keynote but they all operate as they should.

i have also had no problems with any of the iLife 09 programs.

The tasks running being 64bit or not really doesnt mean much. The 32bit kernel will load 64bit and 32bit apps just fine, as will the 64bit kernel of course.

The 32bit kernel will only load 32bit kernel extensions (kexts) though. And the 64bit kernel will only load 64bit kernel extensions.

Unfortunately 10A411 still hasnt got 64bit X3100 kexts. So those with early macbooks or macminis have the option of either booting 64bit kernel without CL/QE or accelerated graphics. Or booting 32bit kernel and enjoying CL/QE/Accelerated Graphics.

My laptop is running 32bit kernel, and the process list looks similar to yours. My desktop is running the 64bit kernel and the process list looks no different really.

Not entirely true.. adding titles and scrubbing in iMovie 09 does not work as in Leopard. This has already been reported to Apple...

Time machine, fresh install, then do the migrate thingamo same as most people would of done when they set up their SL partition.

No upgrade path means that what you currently have will not upgrade. What you have described is not an upgrade but a clean install and migration - not the same.

However, all I mentioned was upgrade...

fonts are definitely different, bigger, and not as bold:

Also, quicktime has been updated from 10.0 (42) to 10.0 (47). No icon change, still can't open avi's or mkv's (and no perian, YOWZA).

I confirm, That's really better when u use an external large display. :)

Hm.. the Quicktime interface has been redesigned. Not sure yet if i like it.

How long does it take your macbooks to go to sleep - with prev. build it took waaay to long (25-30) sec!

Drag an drop from Entourage 's messages on the desktop now work :)

I remember reading that there were compatibility issues with Microsoft Office 2008 and Exposé/Spaces (can't remember which one) - has that been corrected? last time I tested Snow Leopard I couldn't be bothered loading on Microsoft Office 2008.

I didn't notice any sleep mode delays on my MBP. It sleeps just as quickly as Leopard and wakes up at the same speed.

Such sloooow graphics perf

Hey all,

I'm using the latest build of SL on an aluminium macbook with a geforce 9400m etc.. and I have the slowest results in xbench graphics tests.

for cpu mesurements SL is faster than leopard,
but for the User Interface test in SL and the OPENGL tests I get a score HALF of what I used to get in leopard on the same machine... any thoughts on this??

Thanks,
John
