Thank goodness this came out today as I had annoying glitches on my iMac with the first beta. Hopefully this update will fix them and maybe make a bit quicker as well (I’ve never seen so many pinwheels lol). Also for some reason I couldn’t change the wallpaper to the new stock pastel one for Big Sur...It would always load up the mountain one from Catalina and when I went to look in the wallpaper folder in the finder the actual images were missing!

Safari
I couldn't tell you, just as I was going to dive into it, well it fixed itself. Now it works for me... Do you have other mac's not running Big Sur?

I have Big Sur running on my MBP 15" 2018. Messages works fine. Its only on the Mac Pro 2019 that I have issues. Tried a fresh install on a separate drive, still no go. I cannot login to Messages as well since the preferences under messages is disabled.

FaceTime and Message apps are so far not working since beta 1. Everybody else has this issue?

Doesn't work for me. FaceTime does, messages does not. #wethesheep lol

Working, so far, for me on MBA 2020 I5, quad core. Messages is fine, but I can’t figure out how to delete messages yet.

My Messages and FaceTime work fine, and I'm on a 2013 iMac (unsupported, via ParrotGeek). I made a thumb drive installer both times and just upgraded from Catalina, and then from Beta 1. One thing that might be of consequence is my Messages list is well below 20 people. I constantly keep it culled. Taking up about 800 MB. Just a thought.

Anyone please have a wallpaper remedy for the dynamic colorful wallpaper?

This worked for me, just go to the library to get into desktop photos and open the macOS image with preview and have it set to desktop.... changes dynamically fine in my case now. Never had an issue with the Big Sur dynamic photos, but kinda like the color one and it would not work first build for me using system preferences desktop when I selected it.... showed the Catalina pictures instead. Some permissions issue I think but didn't dig too deep.

When I try to unlock security and privacy preference with my password, the System Preference always reject my RIGHT password. Anyone else?

My system (MacBook Pro 2016) will no long boot. I have to load it using Safe Boot. Will investigate in more detail tomorrow but when I viewed the verbose mode it seemed to be getting stuck in a loop of trying to load something over and over and failing.
Same problem here. MBP 15" 2016, stuck at the boot screen. After typing in the password.
Any solution to that?

In verbose mode, the last line is :

installGTK: GTK installed

After that it seems there is neverendig loop of several lines beginning all with :

ARPT:

The last one is :

ARPT: 1515.997036: txpktpend ACBK 0 ACBE 0 ACVI 0 ACVO 1 BCMC 0 ATIM 0

I have had this problem only on my Mac Pro (MacPro6,1) when I launch the Messages.app it bounces once, shows the dot under the icon, then the dot goes away, and I get the error message:

Now, on my MacBook Pro (will get identifier later) 15", which is the model prior to the 16", Messages launches without any issues. It's the only thing I have had problems with testing... I will probably deep dive into this to see what else I can find...

I was able to install the update to Beta 2, without any of the issues most of the people here are experiencing. On my MacBook Pro, I had to restart, to get the update to start but after that it just went and downloaded just fine...

I am really curious if other people have experienced this issue with Messages...

No issues with opening Messages app on my 6,1.

macOS 11 is still being reported as 10.16 when checking for updates in System Preferences:

Yes! in my system too. So, did you update and tell me is it for Catalina or Big Sur. Am sure that will be bug or some things other mistake to sending update to big sur of Catalina. Am not going to updating. Am still watching is that this update sent by mistakly or other things else.

It's an obvious mistake in the title of the installer file. About This Mac reports it as Version 11.0 Beta.

Same here. Tried resintalling the profile a couple times. No joy.
And my original 11.0 installation was a clean install, so… ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I'm sure they'll sort it out…

After upgrading to the 2nd beta, my wifi does not work after my MacBook Air wakes up from sleep. I have to disable wifi and then re-enable it again to get connected.

Ouch. I had that regularly through Catalina but *touch cheap Ikea wood* it hasn't happened yet in BigSur. I suggest deleting the WiFi network (in network preferences and then purging anything left in keychain) and joining again.

I found a dirty work-around

gibmacos

When ya run it, press C to change the catalog, then type 4. After that, press 1 and enter and it begins the download of the latest Big Sur update.
When do we have to so this, when trying to update ir from system preferences or in Terminal? I can’t get it work... please could you give me more details on how to download the beta2? I have no luck...

Does anybody actually know what is new in this beta? It's only 1 higher on the build number so I can't imagine much - I'm guessing it's more about the apps than the underlaying OS.
