Someone mentioned that Home Sharing worked just fine in Catalina. I never saw where to turn it on. Was he mistaking it for Family Sharing? Home Sharing is/was one of the best features for using the Apple TV as a home theater. Please tell me I don't have to start using Plex...

Is there a list of the devices Catalina will work on? I have a 2018 iPad and am looking forward to the new iPad OS but I understand some of the features only work with a computer running Catalina. I have a 2015 Retina MBP and am hoping it will run ok on that.

The command for making a bootable usb has changed in beta 2.

It is now

sudo /Applications/Install\ macOS\ Catalina\ Beta.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/Untitled

whereas before it was

sudo /Applications/Install\ macOS\ 10.15\ Beta.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/Untitled

so “10.15” has been replaced by “Catalina”.

This has become quite a regular thing going from beta 1 to beta 2 for several versions now.

I think the reason is beta 1 literally doesn’t have a name until the keynote at wwdc, but they want all the betas ready anyway for that event. So beta 1 is nameless. But by the time beta 2 comes it has a name.

Also Beta 1 should really be Alpha 1 and Beta 2 should be the start of the Beta's as they start fixing functions (and breaking others)

My Logitech MX Master doesn’t work via Bluetooth on Beta 2. When booting my iMac, the mouse doesn’t respond. I have to use a USB mouse to interact with my iMac. When I go to Bluetooth settings and remove the MX Master, and reconnect it works for the time being. Until I reboot again, then it stops working..

How did the upgrade work for those who tried it? Was it an actual upgrade or a clean install?

This is what I see:

Screen Shot 2019-06-17 at 21.19.42.png
When I click the "Upgrade Now" button and then click "Install" in the dialog, it warns me that files on the root of the volume will be removed. Is it safe to proceed?

Things like apps not reflecting in Launchpad

This is something that bothered me as well. So I investigated. Apparently, this is new, intended behavior. If you want the app in launchpad, you'll have to drag the .app file from the Applications folder on top of the launchpad icon in the dock.

I auto hide the dock and remove every app from it, so I had to figure out how to get launchpad back in the dock, since it's not itself in launchpad. If you've removed it, you can use spotlight search (CMD+Spacebar) to search for launchpad, and drag it to the dock.

Pretty annoying!

Seed note just says

"During upgrades to macOS 10.15, files and folders stored at the root-level of a volume are no longer moved aside to /Library/SystemMigration/History/Migration-UUID/QuarantineRoot/."

So is it safe to proceed?

This is a beta. It is never safe to proceed.

Apple said in early July during the kevnote.

I would guess with Beta 3, so in 2 weeks of the every other week release works. Usually would be Dev Beta on one day with Public Beta the next day. As it gets closer to release it would be dev and public on the same day.

Just a guess, but I would think we might have a full release of 12.4 very soon as well?
[doublepost=1560806028][/doublepost]Any have success with Parallels using Beta 2? Yes, it is a beta and they are working on some updates, but curious if anyone has it working :)

I could not sync my iPhone X. It would show in Finder but I'd get a blank page after it loaded the space remaining data. The Music and Apple TV apps are bare minimum functionality. Photos didn't like my default data file. Fortunately, I had backups. All sorts of weird issues. However, it was stable for a first beta otherwise.

Where was it? I saw no place to turn it on and nothing showed up on the Apple TV (I have the 4 - it hasn't been updated to the beta).

I still can't connect to my Airplay speaker (Denon AVR) when clicking the speaker icon or in System Prefs / Sounds. However, the Music app can play to it fine.

My login window has lost its background. In B1 it was the old Mojave one. I might have put that there myself when I first upgraded to Mojave (it's not so straight forward with FileVault) but can't remember.

So I've just updated my Mac, iPad and iPhone to the 2nd betas and now I can't enable private browsing or clear any browsing history on all devices... Jokes aside, is anyone else having this problem since updating?

If so, any work around/fixes.

Thank you! I think, in my case the warning was shown because of the `/data/db` folder (MongoDB data), that got removed after the installation, but other than that it was successful upgrade.

Fusion Pro 11.1 running a Windows 10 Pro VM here with no problems.
Just tried it again after running Beta 2 for a few hours and it did startup and run my Windows 10 Enterprise VM without causing another crash. It could have been something else in the background running earlier but it only crashed when starting up Fusion and/or the VM. Time will tell I guess.
