Installing on latest Catalina. Been a long year using this MacOS, never had to restore from Time Machine as much as this past year. It takes it's time to hand over to Big Sur, installer at this stage for over an hour now. Is it just me?

On a Late 2013 MBP, is it our last year together? Hopefully not, it will have to be an upgrade to DongleBook Pro otherwise.

I’ve been crawling through the installation for the last 4 hours almost. Can’t get consistent speed at all. I’ve stopped and started a few times so that’s probably prolonged it a bit but jeez, this is bad.

Several attempts on a couple systems. Guess it's wait till Thursday

I tried a Beta some time ago it has been the same, perhaps a bit quicker than this. Hoped it wont be the same with the "final" version. I learned not to interrupt it, little Craig Federighi elfs working hard on the inside.

Finally done, got the installer. Over the last 10 mins it sped up dramatically.

Looks like I can't install it today on a 2020 MacBook Pro. Maybe Thurday it'll decide to install. I'm too frustrated with it to keep trying.

I have the same issue. Downloaded multiple times, created a flash drive of it. Get the same error every time . Mine is a 2020 iMac.

Upgrading from Catalina to public beta, experiencing slow download speed from Russia, (300 MBit/s link or VPN to Germany or ~70 MBit/s via mobile - same results), for 2 hours it downloaded ~2 Gb from 12. And suddenly, it for a several seconds downloaded +3 Gb, then the progress bar freezed. iStat does not show any network activity peak at this moment. My point here: download speed or progress reported incorrectly, iStat does not show real download speed either (+2 Gb as I writing this message).

Can anyone help? I am using the Installer script but when the copying disk step is going I get this error -

edit - usb drive was the problem.

So I guess you do need RC1 before going to RC2. That’s problem the issue I’m seeing where the bridgeOS version isn’t meeting the minimum version requirement.

Whoo-hoo, finally finished a clean install off the bootable installer. Loving the new look and features.

That's what I'm wondering... so, will I be able to install the version coming out this Thursday after installing RC2?

So... Is it known if the version of Big Sur releasing on Thursday to the public is 11.0 or 11.0.1?
11.0.1, and this one no longer says beta. I expect it's the release build.

pleasantly surprised at the stability. They've fixed a number of Ui issues in Catalina, and introduced a few new ones. all square icons are hard to get used to...much less visual distinction. Clearly they're trying to converge iOS and macos.
