Update seems a lot faster and smoother, Touch ID flys. There will definitely be one or two more updates for sure, not all the bugs are fixed. Get use to these regularly beta updates, soon enough it will every few days. Great time to be alive in 2016!

Big EMOJIS for the win! I'm not kidding that this will be a big improvement. Folks are using them all the time. And I can barely see the difference between the little faces on my phone.

Updating on 6S+ and I think it might be frozen on the apple screen with the white bar... the white bar is full but nothing is happening for the past 10 minutes... happening to anyone else?

Quick update... my phone is now bricked. Update with caution. Keep getting the connect to itunes screen even after restoring.

Can I turn them off or remove the buttons? No? Huh, sounds pretty forced then.
Well, you can turn them off the animations by enabling reduce motion. As far as buttons, there are also buttons there already for things like voice messaging and the like which already take up space and by far aren't something that's used by everyone. That said, I certainly agree that having separate controls for things of this nature (and many others) would be welcome.

And, again, not using something that is there and thus having effectively the same experience as before, isn't really what would get associated with "forced". I mean if you are saying you are "forced" simply to have the ability to use these things being there, then I guess you can say that, but going beyond that it's kind of like saying that because "airplane mode" exists on the device that means it's "forced" on you as far as your device not having connectivity because that's what happens when airplane mode is used.

Seems like the whole kind of overblown "forced" thing and all that is kind of taking away from a much more realistic and more basic aspect of it all--additional and optional controls for more things in iOS.

So in order to avoid visual diarrhea on my cellphone, I should tell kids to stop being kids? How about the ability to disable said visual diarrhea?

Like I said, I'm moving to Android so it's a moot point. I'm still entitled to my view, however. Apple is now catering to 12 year olds and it shows.
Disable it if you want by using the reduce motion option. Having the option to disable it is definitely a good thing. Making a mountain out of a molehill of how all of this will affect someone that won't use this and won't really have people using with them, that's somewhat different.
Children sending emoticons and animations are disrespect

I'm not on any of those.

The reasoning is that I want a messaging app to send people quick messages. I'm not interested in visual effects, oversized emoticons, replacing words with images mid-sentence, swiping to view a message, etc. If others would like those things, then fine. But there should still be the option for the receiver to disable them.

But again, what so many of you seem to be missing, is the clear admission that I'm abandoning iOS for a multitude of reasons (hardware being one of them). Apple is taking the functionality of the iPhone in a direction that I do not care to go. What is so difficult to understand about that?

You can keep your animated images, and I'll move to a platform that's more adult friendly. I don't see the tension here.

EDIT: oops, I think I responded to the wrong person!
Many people have been talking about the whole "childish" thing with iOS 7 redesign and what that brought...and yet here we are some years later with many people finding that design as a great modern design calling the previous one outdated and childish and all that.

I think the weather in the today screen next to the date is new. Can't upload a screenshot from my iPad.

Gm coming soon
When the iPhone announcement event takes place--basically something that has been known and expected even before iOS 10 betas.

I think, there must be some serious security plugs they must be fixing. There is no real reason to release betas weekly all of a sudden, unless there are some serious issues that were fixed and they want them plugged. But then, if that were the case, they would have released a point update to the normal OS channel as well. So.. can't really figure what's Apple's game here.
They've been doing weekly betas when it comes closer to the release for a number of releases now.

Have a nice time with robot responses with Google Allo...

Now now, we should all be more accepting of others choices and indeed thankful that Android exists. After all without Android we wouldn't realise just how good iOS really is :D

I kid of course, before all the droiders get up in arms, no, wait, I don't, go find your own bloody forum :D

Ok, serious this time. There's nothing wrong with Android, if that's your sort of thing. I for one hope it continues, without Android there'd likely be no real dominant single force of competition for Apple and competition is very important. Do none of us remember how crap pretty much every OS was prior to the introduction of the iPhone. Not to mention that practically every manufacturer had their own closed systems. The iOS/Android days are much better.
Oh and of course not forgetting Windows Phone, hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha ;)

Are you sure? Fresh sign in working flawlessly across Outlook and Word? This would mean I can jump on the beta wagon again!
For what it's worth, I just installed PB5 on my iPad Air 2 and I can use Word and Outlook just fine. Didn't even need to sign in again. I hope it works for you.

very happy touch ID is working like it should again!

It kept asking me to connect to iTunes to do a restore but then gave an error that it couldn't. After many attempts it then just continued the update and all was well.
Pretty weird

Thought iOS 10 was super exciting.

But last night, I decided to give what the "cool kids" do a shot. Rolled back my iPhone 6s Plus to 9.3.3 (they're still signing it) and jailbroke for the first time in my life.

Yeah... I can see why people jailbreak now. I don't care for themes and stuff, but some of the small tweaks I have found... THEY are what iOS 10 needs, not an App Store for Messages to get kitty sticker packs.

Speeding up animations, volume change indicator in the status bar (not a giant popup), the ability to downgrade iOS apps to a previous version, dismissing of breadcrumbs, being able to see detailed cellular info (like LTE band, RSRP, SNR... stuff like this matters to me as I'm eyeing a pending B12 launch in my area), the ability to customize control center (for instance, NOT showing media control when no media is playing), setting default apps, a close all tabs button in Safari, etc...

Basically adding all of the common sense features iOS SHOULD have, but doesn't... plus a few more developer-oriented things.

Not sure if I understand you correctly, but I think it has been like that since the beginning. At least, I've been able to use 3D Touch on those without having them as widgets. :p
No the phone app and notes app neither would actually let you click to use it. It would open but if tap on the contact or the note it would do nothing. Several reported that behavior in the b4 fixes thread. Adding either app to the widgets would make them work. If removed from widget it would go back to no longer working. As stated it would open but not respond to a tap afterwards.

People were leaving iMessage for more "fun" and multiplatform apps such as WhatsApp, Kik, Tango, etc. The more Apple could enhance their own messaging platform, the more people will stay on iOS and have less incentive to move to other platforms.
They leaving because iMessages is iOS only and most people switched/switching to other phones. samsung etc. Me for example really jealous for S7 waterproof/weatherproof option or as you can use phone when screen is wet. It's not a big deal, but when you cycle it's really good thing to be able to use map etc. And not to carry your phone in plastic bag when it's raining. So probably switch from imessages tooo :))
