I think AI is the future and in about 10 years we would be controlling computers and gadgets only with our voices, and that is a good thing, right?

I dock my iPhone next to my iMac, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who does that. Being able to use Touch ID instead of a password would save me time and wear on my keyboard.
Not a realistic concern.

Depends on how nice your voice sounds. I'm sure for some folks it would be better if they stick to kbd and mouse.

I just installed Sierra. And of course I'm running beta 1 at the moment. I see beta 5 in the App Store but that refuses to download. So I guess I'm just gonna wait for the new beta to become available on the store. Hopefully soon...

is this beta steady enough to run on my main device or should I wait? Please don't be smart and tell me this is a beta, just let me know how it stands for daily use

Thank you

Why spend resources? Because it's a great feature many will use. It's not a stretch that many desktop users will have their phone nearby. As the framework already exists, the incremental cost for adding this feature is mice-nuts. Just do it and make a bunch of people smile - even 1% of the user base would be a large number.
I wasn't saying what they were doing was necessarily correct (though I have to admit, though the decision may be frustrating, I do agree with their decision). I was largely trying to present how I suspect Apple is justifying the choice to limit auto-unlock to Apple Watch.

It's great for daily use at this point, at least in my opinion. Running it on my main (and only) device.

I was amazed by how stable the first beta was, I had few problems with it and later betas, mostly a few UI bugs, that's it.

But, it's up to you if you take the risk, there's always a risk.

These are extremely exciting times for apple - no suprise that Warren Buffet has finally pressed the button on apple as a great investment.
Great Time Around The Corner.
ps
I dont hold shares in apple

Yeah, it's fine. Preview has been crash while combining PDFs or adding pages but that's better with the most current public beta.

I also run Office Fast Insider betas, so there's excitement where Microsoft pushes an update, fixes some bugs, but leaves some. Then Apple pushes a beta and breaks new stuff. Microsoft patches, then something else breaks. It's good times.

I have only once run into a situation where something flat out wouldn't work, and sometimes a log out/log in or reboot will clean it up, even though that's very un-Apple.

MacRumors must have jumped the gun on this post, assuming the beta was about to be released. Seems to be a copy/paste of last weeks beta 5 post. You can see in the first paragraph the mistake where it says "macOS Sierra beta 6 comes one week after the release of the fourth beta."

Beta 6 is in the dev centre so it is coming, but not in the app store yet for some reason.

EDIT: As above, it's now out there too!

and the PB5 is out... *happily installing*

btw, almost no bugs. I'm very impressed with Sierra so far....

If I re download the file from the App Store, it should download the latest file right, NOT public beta 1?

Finished installing it on my MacBook now. It is not the most recent version that it downloaded. PB4 is build 16A286a. The build downloaded from the App Store was 16A284a. I don't know which version exactly that is. However PB5 is now available for download so it might be worth trying that.
