I really hate to be "that guy" – believe me when I say that I know it's annoying, because it is. But all of you people complaining about issues with specific betas – Safari tabs disappearing, major display issues, AirPods issues, crackling speakers etc. – just should not ever install any macOS betas on your main machines. Ever. Hell, you probably shouldn't even install 12.0.1!

Like, why are you guys doing this to yourselves? You all know better by now, or at least your ought to. Seriously.
Actually hearing from others what they encounter helps everyone here. 12.0.1 was the public release after 12.0 beta cycle started WWDC 2021. The 12.0 issued on 2021 MBP was a earlier release to get them shipped.

The Public Beta program has been running since Sierra 10.12 July 2016. I had my share of occasionally fun, but overall its been a very useful experience with everything backed up, and you are acutely aware on what to watch out for with multiple OS platforms.

I hardly had any issues with Monterey since beta 1. Really. When I pointed out the gamma issue its only occurring with M1 based computers, I also reported that to Apple. All of us are doing everyone a favor when we discuss our thoughts. It should not be looked at as out of minds. :p

Check your settings?

Sound control panel
Output - Sound Output should be "built in" , not associated with some other device.

Looking at Audio Midi Setup -> Audio Devices
MacBook Pro Speakers = format 48,000 Hz, 2 ch 32-bit float
Ye, it's like that. I mean, I installed a clean copy on a new partition, so no reason to be settings-related.

Seems like faulty speakers. Unfortunately, I saw people on reddit who returned theirs and the replacement ones do the same thing. Maybe I will wait a month or so before bringing it in for repair. This is my 5th MacBook Pro and the 3rd faulty one. Not sure what Apple is doing...

I saw playing Netflix's Cowboy Bebop w/Safari messed up gamma wise on my M1 iMac until I enable True Tone, also Diablo 3 the same. No it didn't correct playing Netflix Arcane as posted earlier. You can see the cursor change to unusual green or red as an additional indication that gamma got weird.
I wish Apple had been kind enough to release 12.1 beta 4 before Thanksgiving, but hope the state side gang here has a happy Thanksgiving as Apple Cupertino shuts down this week.

To paraphrase Dire Straits (somewhat appropriately), "I want my USB!"

(Okay, technically it was Sting...)

I had an issue with the early betas not scanning for people in Photos. It was fixed but now trying to rebuild my library, I notice its not scanning again. What caused me to rebuild is that is was not updating pics in Monterey that were updated on Iphone or Ipad

Based on last years beta release dates which are pretty close to Monterey beta dates, you’ll like see next beta this week. Some other OS betas occurred Dec 2, with BS MacOS beta Dec 3 last year.

One has to wonder if Apple’s executives like Cook and Federighi use these machines on a daily basis.

I don't have the cracking issue on new Macs.

When I has it in 2018 Macs it was resolved mostly in Catalina and completely in Big Sur.

But I have also seen it in Windows laptops.

They probably have theirs hooked up to HomePod mini thus this issue of crackling audio doesn't really concern them. I also doubt they upgrade their daily machines to the latest macOS. They may still be on Catalina for all we know.

Good lord, how long is this update going to take? Been waiting to install Monterey on all my machines and would like to not have to immediately update them all. Obviously it's more important that it's stable than rushed out, but this seems to be moving really slowly.

MacOS 12.1 likely won't get released until middle of Dec.
MacOS 12.1 beta 3 has been around since Nov 16th, and beta 4 likely show up before end of this week.

I have had it once, when I accidently did a find my of the Mac instead of my phone. Terrible crackling with the pings, but haven't had it otherwise.

Impossible to be on Catalina on a brand new MBP. ?‍♂️
