Software updates mean nothing when Android already has all or most of the features iPhone will be adding (I can ask Siri about sports now? Yay!). Plus features iPhone won't have for years but will later spout as revolutionary. Also, I only plan to keep a smartphone for 1/2 to 2 years anyway. So software updates are mostly irrelevant in this case.

Also, I don't want a Harry Potter-esque wand as my phone (from rumors). The S3 screen is more realistic and nice. That's just my opinion and what I want from a phone screen.

I'm waiting until the new iPhone comes out to make my final decision, however.

If you're referring to iOS6, I'd wait for the full unveil. WWDC was for developers (and indeed lots of nice new APIs are included that I'm really excited about). No doubt the new iPhone unveil will out the rest of the changes.

Imagine if you were one of Apple's designers and worked very closely on designing the iPhone, wouldn't you want to murder mother@$%$@s that copied your ideas (which you put an incredible amount of time into)? Answer is obviously yes. Samsung deserves all of everything that's coming to them. 'When you can't innovate, steal', is what you Samsung kids should be thinking. I call you kids because you're not of adult intellect when you spew comments about Apple not being the innovative company.

I am curious in what way? I have a few friends with this phone and when I talk to them the sound quality is horrible, and honestly the os just seems so darn confusing (and this is from a techy who has been programming since 1994)

iPhone has no bragging rights about "sound quality". I can barely hear someone on the phone unless I'm in a quiet area. In Apple stores, people with iPhones are always getting calls and asking the person to wait until they're in a quieter area to talk. Other phones, not so much.

And the OS is very simple on the S3. It's not as spoon-fed as iOS, but I don't want to be spoon-fed by Apple. After 10 minutes of playing with the display I felt quite comfortable with the OS.

But that's just me.

Didn't infringe. Can't.

I can't believe Apple hasn't gone after their worst nightmare: the Galaxy S3.

To clarify, the SIII wasn't part of the lawsuit, for the reasons others have said. Now that they have a big win in their column, they can certainly revive a lawsuit against Samsung for the SIII, and ask the judge to issue an injunction. Today's filing relates only to those devices that were in the lawsuit. Apple narrowed it down to those phones that are still for sale.

Is it better than the iPhone 4s ? How

The 4S is just a faster 4. With a voice assistant.

The S3 is a completely different ball-game.

Apple isn't trying to stop the sales of these phones because they "copied" iPhone. Apple knows these phones, including S3, are becoming better. Apple has become the wimpy rich kid in school who wouldn't do anything productive or unique; they just use their money to get what they want and shut others up.

Sad, because I used to love Apple very much.

This makes no sense. Either ban all the infringing models or don't ban any. What are they going to do, have another trial on devices that didn't make the list?

Yes, they could. It would be much more targeted since they wouldn't be judging the validity of the patents, only whether or not the SIII or other devices infringe.

By that argument, the SIII is just a Galaxy Nexus with a few new features like a voice assistant. In some respects, it's like the SII "S".

You won’t enjoy the lack of future software updates compared to what the new iPhone will get over its life :p

The difference is that if Apple stop making iOS for your device, you're screwed. But if that happens with an Android phone, you can install a 3rd party build within a few minutes...

Not only with this quote but with also others, I see that it is always about the underdog. When you are poor, you are defending yourself, but when you are filthy rich, you are trying to rip others off.

it's always about the underdog. During the '90s Microsoft was seen as the evil empire and people gravitated towards Apple because it was non-mainstream and to "stick it to the man". Now Apple has dethroned Microsoft to become to new evil empire.

someone doesn't know their smartphone specs.

My point is that there is a clear, evolutionary progression between the SII, Galaxy Nexus, and SIII. A lot of Android fans and tech sites were initially disappointed with the SIII (much as they were the 4S).

galaxy nexus has google now and jelly bean so its basically got a voice assistant. also the s3 is getting jelly bean very soon. the s2 got ics and the s2 is getting jelly bean in a few months also. so for the s2 thats gingerbread when it came out to ics to jelly bean. thats 3/3 updates. not bad if you ask me. also my 3gs with ios 5 runs like ass. also the international s3 with any current jelly bean rom runs so lag free its crazy. as does my s2 for that matter and its not even a fully working jelly bean. you guys need to learn you phones b4 you talk about **** about them. iphone 4s awesome phone but for me screens to small and i dont like the lack of customization on ios. i think the 5 will have a screen thats too small also

The S3 and Galaxy Nexus are different phones and target different groups of people.

Apple innovated good enough to be copied by Samsung which is why Samsung is up to their neck in litigation.

Your sarcasm detector is broken.

On a neutral site, people would understand this, but this being an Apple related website the entire user base (even if they use an iPhone or not) jumped into the fray like rabid dogs...

:)

I'm glad the S3 is out of the firing line, it's what I was planning to dump my iPhone 4S for in October :D

Not at all. The SIII is an LTE enabled, faster processor, Touch-wiz running powerhouse with a completely different design than the Galaxy Nexus. The SIII and the Galaxy Nexus have very little in common, whereas the 4 and 4S are literally spitting images of each other.

Samsung S3 or whatever..

based also on the innovative idea of the iPhone.
I'm still wondering why people at a site called MacRumors post that they'll go for an Samsung S3.

Shouldn't they post on SamsungRumors?

Something like MacRumors, just a few months after :D
Or, rumors about what Samsung will adopt next

And why so angry about Apple? A few years early everybody loved the underdog and now they made it the new enemy just because of their success, or because they protect their intellectual property?

See it in the positive way, now Samsung can show how great they're by developing their own stuff

Next witness for the prosecution: Android ;)
We'll see...

The Galaxy Nexus has LTE, at least in the US. I agree there are some differences, but there are a lot of similarities (large AMOLED screen, dual-core A9 processor, NFC).

There are quite a few differences under the hood, but that's also the case between the 4 and 4S. The differences are that Apple didn't make any obvious external design changes, and of course they don't have "skins" and release the same version of the OS on all their phones.
