How do you know that if you still are using the iPhone?

Hey...the phone might be ok...but can't get around that OS. Still android, and if the stay true to form, the OS will be outdated with the next release.

Will it? I must say, as much as I like my iphone 4, I feel like the OS is getting stale. And the new iOS 6 features don't really excite me.

Android always feels like a work in progress, but it actually progresses. They change things around and they are experimenting with things. It's up for discussion which OS is better at this point and I'm not trying to make a point about that, but it's usually more exciting when a new android version is out, than when a new iOS version comes out.

You could say that it's because iOS got more things right the first time, so no need to fix what isn't broken (and you would be right, because it took android a long time to get some of its aspects right), but I wish Apple would completely redesign iOS every so often.

The S3 seems to be the iPhone equal at the moment, in terms of buzz surrounding it. It practically has it's own cultural value, just like the iPhone does. Seeing S3 billboards, reminds me that we are living in our ancestors technological future.

galaxy nexus has google now and jelly bean so its basically got a voice assistant. also the s3 is getting jelly bean very soon. the s2 got ics and the s2 is getting jelly bean in a few months also. so for the s2 thats gingerbread when it came out to ics to jelly bean. thats 3/3 updates. not bad if you ask me. also my 3gs with ios 5 runs like ass. also the international s3 with any current jelly bean rom runs so lag free its crazy. as does my s2 for that matter and its not even a fully working jelly bean. you guys need to learn you phones b4 you talk about **** about them. iphone 4s awesome phone but for me screens to small and i dont like the lack of customization on ios. i think the 5 will have a screen thats too small also

You need to learn grammar before you contribute to this forum..

I can't believe people actually buy that thing. Doesn't matter what else it has or doesn't have, 4.8" is bordering on a tablet rather than a phone and an instant deal breaker.

I understand entirely why people buy it. It doesn't seem that big when you have used it for a couple of days (I had one for 30 days). The overall feel of the device is still good despite the difficulty reaching the opposite top corner of the device.

I agree, although I have to say, the ideal size (for me, obviously), is somewhere halfway from the iPhone and S3 screens (so around 4.4'' inches?).

My ideal screen size is probably around 4.2", but the rumored iPhone with 4" screen is probably good enough.

I've tried it out quite a few times in-store. And I've read about it online.

And Android used to be a piece of crap. But today, it's way better than iOS. It has come a very long way and I am pleasantly surprised at that.

That's your opinion and you are entitled to it. However, I too have used an Galaxy S III, along with a Nexus 7 with Jelly Bean and I have to call BS on your conclusion that Android today is way better than even the current iOS5 version.

There is little doubt Google has done a great job with Android and will continue to do so. But for folks like yourself that have made the decision that you prefer Android to come into forums and beat that drum over and over just makes you look like your about 14 years old. Okay we get it, today you like and feel that Android for YOU is better. Wonderful, enjoy your Android device. Even having used the newer version of Android I still prefer iOS5 and looking forward to 6.

By the way do you know how many Android phones out there have never been upgraded? They still have the same version Droid on them in which they were sold. Only small percentages of Android phones are very upgraded because of the maze Google has allowed with phone manufacturers and carriers. So while the iPhone user experience is pretty much the same across the last 3 models, 3GS, 4 and 4S, and soon 5. The Android market is so fragmented you never know what user experience you are going to have.

I hope Google continues to push forward with Android and I know Apple will continue to push with iOS. ISN'T LIFE GRAND, WE HAVE A CHOICE! You made yours and some will make the same one you did and yet others will continue with the iPhone. So get over it already!

Curious the S3 is not on the list. Perhaps apple wants to take it down with the next iPhone instead. One can only hope.

edit- to clarify, what I mean is I hope the next iPhone is an S3 killer. Because I do think the S3 is a great phone.
If Apple targets the S3, they will surely attract the outrage of onlookers.

So you're telling me that the 2.5 years of updates that my iPhone 3G (not even S) got, never happened? Interesting. Let's not forget that 3GS owners have gone from iOS 3 to 5 and now 6 in the fall. Keep your ignorance to yourself.

And how many of the changes in iOS 6 does the 3GS actually get? ;) You pretty much missed the rest of his point. It's basically equivalent to people with jailbroken iPhones not upgrading to the new iOS version because by jail breaking, they have the majority, if not all of the features that the "new" OS offers.

That was a very long post to read. But I didn't come and beat any drums. My original post very short, sweet, to the point and to me didn't come off as offensive or "drum-beating". It was slightly comical.

iPhone is a great phone. Android just has some better ones these days. And to me it's slightly hypocritical when Apple fans call out Samsung for "copying" Apple, and idly sit by while Apple steals ideas from Android OS and incorporates them into their OS updates.

sounds familiar...
A friend of mine, working as a developer at a bigger search engine, told me the same a few years ago before they released their first mobile operating system.
He previewed it to me, at a time it was not available in Germany with full of excitement. These days I cant see a difference, but heard the same arguments.
And I never met anybody who has more trouble with his pc's (first Linux, then Win) and met anybody whose mind changed often about OS's.
I think too much freedom of configuration is not good, even for experts.
Look at SAP (ERP) or iOS, still working for the user.
And honestly, what do you need to configure your phone for? What are you doing with it. So after a few years of IT experience I can say a phone make calls and send some packages but it's still a phone with not a high productivity level.
And that you don't like what Apple offer is ok.
If you go to Burger King and like to have Fubu, don't be disappointed.
Go to a Fubu restaurant.
But don't say I didn't warn you....

Since your German and im finding it hard to understand your point. Ill try and put it into a way you might understand.

I buy BMW because i get more BHP than Audi. i Buy BMW because they are more sporty than Mercedes. And its faster than Both!

i dont buy BMW because its got 4 wheels and an engine and gets me from A to B.

iOS doesnt do what i want it to do. iOS makes me do what iOS wants me to do.

iPhone has a tiny screen and low specs which are ok for making calls and messing around but when i want to stream a 1080p movie direct to my smart TV isnt powerful enough. Heck even the iPad 3 cant do that without stuttering.

But my S3 has no problem. I was going to spend money on a media centre but since i have my S3 i have no need!

Yes you did come to beat your android favoritism drums. Don't lie. The instant you said that Android is better than iOS proved that. If you meant "better for you" then no problem - but you and I both know you mean "better in general".

The fact that iPhones constantly score higher on consumer satisfaction ratings than any android handset shows that you are wrong.

It is not the best for everybody but for the average consumer it still is the best device.

I don't even need to argue why. The numbers speak for themselves.

Either you are deluded into thinking that Android is the best or you are in denial. In either case you are wrong. And no matter how much you believe your lie, it doesn't change reality.

Some people like Mac but iOS sucks balls.

iOS does suck balls.

Also Apple has become what it used to hate.

The S3 is a great phone and im so glad i changed after 5 years

i dont like apple telling me what i can do with my device. i paid for it and i want to do what i want on it.

Smartphones are computers and i like to sometimes use them as such.

Apple wants me to do what it wants me to do and i have never been very good at being told what i can and cant do.

i dont need to get into the Android v iOS debate its been done to death.

Just after 5 years im glad im out.

Phew, the Googlebots out in full force today, huh?

Google will in turn seek to ban the following Apple models for infringing on Motorola's patents:

iPhone 3GS
iPhone 4
iPod Touch 3G
iPad 2
All Core2Duo based Macs

Apple innovated good enough to be copied by Samsung which is why Samsung is up to their neck in litigation.

Yeah, Apple's innovation summed up:

You know, not everybody is happy with a stamp-sized screen with micro-film-quality icons. I bought a Galaxy Note BECAUSE it's more like a tablet than a phone; I rarely make phone calls, but I use the web browser and the Kindle reader A LOT.

OK, I see. You need a small budget solution for your Media Centre.
OK, maybe the Samsung solution fits for your demand best.
I would prefer a more mature solution with about at least 500GB or more of storage in order to keep my media, but if its only a few songs and 2-3 movies its ok to use a phone with limited space.
Even streaming quality is not as good as a solution with a HDMI cable.
Just think about the sound.
And as a "german" I can't confirm Audi & Mercedes have less acceleration or sporty character than BMW. But you'll find out for yourself by driving cars from these companies.
Acceleration and how sporty a car is, is not about bhp (PS, german measurement) it's about weight, chassis and mostly about bhp/PS to pound/KG ratio.
But comparison might be hard in order of US speed limits and streets.
Quite the same like a highly powered smartphone with lots of features which you cant use in an appropriate way.

There is one thing i do every day with my S3.

Put a full battery inside and not be tied to the charger when its empty. £11 gives me a Samsung battery that i can charge while i use the other.

Removable storage and battery are 2 of the best things about not having an iPhone any more.

4.8" Screen is great for reading webpages and watching the odd video. Apps are so much better on a bigger screen.

I can watch flash video and the Google Maps app is 10x better than iOS has. In fact i dont miss anything i used to have on iOS.

Swiftkey 3 is 10x better than iOS stock keyboard your stuck with.

Cool Zelda map.

.....

Ok you convinced me, I just ordered a Samsung S3.

No I'm kidding.

Apps on bigger screen = iPad

Battery life = iPhone 4 and even first iPhone still working fine, no need for replacement.
Even handset lifecycle is no longer than 2 years, caused by contract renewal, or is the S3 your last phone ever?

Read news = Laptop & iPad or even old school newspaper (you know these things made out of paper)

Flash Videos = streaming YouPorn on TV (bigger titties)

Maps = Navigationsystem in car

Keyboard = I don't participate at Facebook

So, leave it. It's just a phone - do calls...

Just wait until September 12, you'll change your mind! :)

Nah. I personally think the sweet spot for a phone is between 4.3 & 4.5 inches, preferably, 4.5. While 4 inches is certainly better than 3.5, the iPhone just doesn't meet my needs. I use a phone mainly for websurfing and texting. While I could get by with 4 inches, 4.5 means a lot less zooming, and still fits comfortably in my pocket. I do prefer iOS to Android, however choice is just slightly more important to me.

why even buy a smartphone if you're just using it to do calls...unless you're just using as a fashion icon like 99% of the buyers.
