...I think I'll just wait until after summer. When I got my 3GS last September it was pain-free as ever. I've already dealt with the activating issues from iPhone 1, not doing it again.

Keep in mind that doing that will push your next iPhone eligibility up further than those who order closer to launch. (if you plan to upgrade next year that is) ;)

AT&T doesn't deserve all the hate they are getting over this... Last time I checked the apple site crapped out too. They were just too many people trying to order. I knew demand would be huge, but selling out all the pre-orders before 24 hours, no one expected something like this! Apple should have made more iphones!!!

By the end of the year every damn american will probably own an iphone!!!

hahaha, welll i feel if the apple site didnt have to rely on the ATT site it would have been better, the apple site only didnt work once out of the day, its the ATT servers that had the MAJOR issues, ATT should have moved the approval process over to Apple (to spilt the load) last month

So I pre ordered mine from apple even though it was going to be July 2 but I'm still planning to go camp at my local AT&T store on launch day. My only concern is that AT&T will see that I have ordered one already and not allow me to purchase one. Does anyone know if this is the case and I should cancel my order?

Im not sure you can blame it on them. This was a lot more than they couldve expected. For just pre orders...

You want to be GUARANTEED a iPhone???

Go to your local Apple store on the 25th, get there early before they open and i BET then have a good amount in stock for sale...

Do you know how many people i bet reserved/pre-ordered double? or as a backup? and wont show? forget? or simply got one else where?

I reserved one and it states they hold it for 1 day, so come the 25th back on the shelf it goes if you dont show. I bet if your there when they open on the 25th they will have a good amount for sale....No worries....

Reserved via the Apple Store App in the middle of the day. Took about 3 minutes.

Local walmarts should have stock. They didn't pre-sell their allocation, and knowing walmart, they should have decent allocation.

Not so much. I fought with the Apple site for hours after I got an approved unit into my cart at around 4AM Central (it only took me about an hour to get that far). Apple's site was having issues its cart and checkout system until at least 9 AM.

I ordered my wife's first and just got an order confirmation that hers is delivering on the 24th. I couldn't get my order to go through. I finally did and mine is shipping on July 2nd. ARGH!!!!

I am Really pissed at Apple now. I tried all freaking day from 8am to 5 pm and still trying to order. It's not going through, and no I don't want an iPhone in mid July. I was online at 8am with my cash (ok debit card), and people who just happened to get lucky at 8 pm are getting a phone on launch day instead. Apple is going to hear about this.

I finally got mine pushed through at about 2pm AZ time. Spent the whole day trying over and over, until I finally got it through.

Honestly the people that kept trying after hours and hours and hours have no reason to complain about not getting a pre order in, i mean i woke up at 5 AM Est, tried for 3 hours, took a break came back at around 10 tried for another hour or two then said screw it drove an hour to the closest AT&T store and just ordered it in the store for a home delivery, they took maybe 10 min to complete me order

so honestly people could have jut drove to a store and saved alot of time and frustration with the websites

Some of us work.

Unfortunately I don't, that is why I am curious about first come first served and what time I should plan to arrive?

Honestly I don't know... I waited 13 hours for the very first iPhone and was the third person to buy one. I then walked into the store 30 minutes before closing the same day to buy another iPhone and there was no wait and plenty of phones left.... but then again they were $600 back then. Whatever you do I wish ya luck!

Agreed!!

Here in Tokyo, after waiting in line for an hour and a half last night until Softbank (Japan's iPhone carrier) computers went down and I had to go home without my reservation, I returned this morning.

There was a line ahead of me, but I made a point with the shop lady that those who waited last night should be first. Shortly thereafter, I successfully reserved.

They say there is no guarantee they will come on the 24th, but that my chances are good since I am #14 in line at the shop.

However, this happened just at the same time as Apple updated their site to 7/2, though..

I hope ol' Steve decides to ship a HUGE batch here to the land of the rising sun.

I'm STILL waiting on Apple's half assed explanation of this. Could they not have said something, i don't know, a day before pre-orders started? They HAD to know. It's like they don't even give a **** that they're inconveniencing people. Too bad i'm stuck with AT&T and AT&T doesn't have a decent Android phone or i'd give up and just get one of those.

+1

With you all the way man...

Me + Krispy Kreme Donuts + Monster + iPad + Lawn chair = camping in front of AT&T... Since there is not a Apple store near. I am not waiting until July, I sold MY iPhone bought a POS phone so I need it... I wish I would have got the 3G iPad Right now... But I never thought AT&T and Apple would have problems on there biggest launch to date but then again that is the problem...

ATT changed my upgrade eligibility for the worse

Two iphones on my account one for my wife and one for me. Before the announcement a few weeks ago I checked online with ATT and it showed I could upgrade for free and my wife for a $18 charge. I thought that was fare.

However today when I ordered mine it shows a $18 charge and my wife has to pay $499 for a 32GB plus the $18 fee. I called ATT, they had no explanation and said I must have read my account wrong, which I didn't. I called them out that they changed this, it fell on deaf ears. I spend about $2500/year with them for over six years. They are truly a horrible company with terrible customer service. So I got mine ordered and coming, my wife is going to be pissed.

So Steve announces ATT is being generous dropping fees for some customers, they get some press that they are waving fees then bam, they pull a barney.

Anyone else have this problem??????

Quick question- if anyone could help me out, it would be greatly appreciated.

I can't upgrade from my 3G until after June 30 when I get paid. However, I want to reserve my iPhone 4 ASAP because, like a previous poster, I'm having SIM issues and my current 3G is barely usable. The July 2 ship date fits my time frame perfectly- but my question is, if I reserve an iPhone 4 for in store pick up, will Apple charge my card in any way or place any holds against my card?

In other words, do I need to have enough money in the bank to cover my full iPhone purchase when I go to reserve an iPhone for In-Store Pick Up? Thanks!!

Not sure if this helps, but when I ordered my 3G from AT&T last time they didn't charge me until it actually shipped.

ahh... well my issues were all on ATT side i think. I got to a point where apple asked me to a pick a store. i got excited... it was just telling me "heyy theres a store near you"... :(

Can anyone explain why my "confirm email " says iphone price $699 ?

Mac mini?

how the hell Apple focusing on releasing new mac mini when there were so much problem on the hand.

people wasted so much time because of Apple and ATT

Was the email an order acknowledgement or confirmation? I got mine in around 5pm CST and haven't received a confirmation.
I believe the acknowledgment email is just to tell you your order is being processed. The Confirmation email probably comes when they charge your card and ship the iPhone next Wed. Just a guess.

I got my order in about 3 hours ago and it was still June 24!!! But no email yet, so hopefully that doesn't change. How long did it take you all to get your email to confirm it?

ATT deserves all the hate they get thrown at the because every single thing about them SUCKS, period end of story.

The only people who get 3G service and never have experienced a drop call are those who live right under an ATT tower.

Their is simply no excuse, for bad service, bad networks, high prices, dropped calls.

Really these people ARE WROSE than BP. At least BP is making a very public effort to do the right thing as Tony Hayiord would say. ATT on the other hand and Apple should have released a statement to people telling them, giving them the courtesy of NOT wasting their time, all fraking day, and jts said, hey folks were overwhelmed, the response is more than we anticipated so were going to slow things down and ease up the system by tomorrow. SO check back tomorrow and order your dam phone and well do our best to get it to you sometime in the coming year!

Oh I hate these people. They are just not honest.
