Is this going to be just like iPad2 launch day? Where everyone thought they had to preorder. But you could go right in the store and buy one?

If you didn't mind waiting in line for hours? It was also in tight supply for weeks afterward.

I just receive my shipped confirmation. Shipped via Fedex, and i see its picked up in PA and i live in NY. So i guess i may get it earlier?

Verizon 64gb white

Ordered on march 7
Still preparing for shipment:mad:

For my ipad 2 last year, they were able to moved the date for a week later.
I hope it wont happen again

Last year when the iPAD 2 debuted, It took all I had to not purchase the iPAD2..it was just so shiny and pretty...especially around the holiday times. However I heard rumors about the iPAD3 and so I waited...so happy I did. Now it's even prettier and shinier. I ordered a 32gb/white/wifi on the day it launched and mine has departed China.

I am sooooooo excited as this is my very first iPad. I must check my UPS tracking number over and over to believe its real. I love apple products. (iMAC 2009, MacBook Air, iPhone 4s 16gb white, iPod NANO 8gb in red-latest generation).

Like others have said, I definitely don't need it but I want it, I want it, I want it...sooo bad.:D:D:D

Mine shows shipped via FedEx, picked up in Nashville TN and scheduled for delivery on March 12 before 3pm. I'm sure they will hold it till friday though. At least it's close by!!

Just got my 'order shipped' email earlier! - I assume if your delivery date hasnt changed and your order is still prepping, you should be fine for the 16th.

Has anyone thought of the possibility that they aren't actually "sold out" for the March 16th delivery date, but instead have just run out of space to ship them? I know it comes as a surprise to some of you, but there are only so many planes flying from China in the span of a week and only so much cargo space on those planes. It very possibly could be that the reason orders are now for a ship by March 19th date is that the cargo shipments are already full up to that date. Just something to think about. We're talking tens if not hundreds of thousands of units for the launch date of Mar 16th, not to mention the shipments that have to supply the retail stores starting on that date too. No wonder they are waiting a week for international sales... Even if they stockpiled a few million iPads for release, they can't ship them all at one time!!

Na. The earlier story about mysterious shipments coming to the US were true I think.

One guy has his shipped and coming from Nashville and mine is shipped and coming from Ontario California.

Apple had a bunch shipped earlier to strategic locations throught the US for delivery on March 16th.

More batches are being shipped from China now.

UK Delay?

Original delivery was stated as 16th but got this e-mail after!!! I would have gone and queued if I'd known! Not fair to state early delivery and then after payment change it?

I waited a day to pre-order my iPad and the shipment slipped by 3 days

Wow, I just ordered mine like an hour ago and it says delivered by the 16th. Hopefully that's true and I snuck in just in time.

It won't deliver on the 16th.

Under the wire with an early morning preorder.

The store was selling out of launch day white iPads around 8:30 AM when I preordered a black 16GB. Card has been charged and status says processing, March 16 delivery.

I only intend to load the new apps designed for The New iPad. Resolution upconverting has been ugly in the past.

I'm wondering if they're actually going off of who ordered at what time. I ordered 6pm eastern time. The Apple store was down until like 4/5pm (without constant refreshing). My status still says processing. Smh. I just want it to say shipped! lol Or @ least Preparing for Shipment so I can rest assured with my Delivery by March 16th.

Not likely, there will be a few fortunate souls that will get them early, but 99.99% of us will have to wait it out.

This. Tracking info should say under details: future shipment requested or something

Otherwise I'd have mine Monday. Tracking info says that for estimate. It's on it's way to minneapolis from TN

Why bother with pre-order,should have just let them ship. Only thing that I could think of is some sort of FCC approval forcing that.

I pre-ordered on the first day and it's still processing. =/

Getting nervous.

Me too.. with the added issue you prbably don't have, that I'm not even in the states...

Mine is being shipped to a friend I will be meeting with in Paris, and he leaves the US on the 17th, so it better arrive on the 16th like I was told or I'm screwed...

It won't deliver on the 16th.

Not what apple reps say...

I think it's awesome that they sell out. Shows that it's a product worth owning. Apple haters have more to hate now. I'd love to see the line across the street for the next big Samsung product, they should show this in the commercials.

All Apple product launches have been the same. Apple has this refined quite nicely.

Yes the stores will have them, the only consideration is if you want to gamble on the fact that if you're not in the right place in line, they'll likely sell out.

A friend I know who's the last minute type, decided to wait in line for an iPad 2. After four hours an Apple employee announced they'd sold out.

Live & learn :)

Waiting on my iPad 3.

Ordered a 32 Black WiFi and a 64G White WiFi.

Currently Fedex shows the black one in Nashville with delayed delivery. The white one isn't registered on FedEx site yet
