It does sound bad when you say it like that, but these are intrest free loans. Since a dollar today is worth more than a dollar tomorrow, it is a better deal to do the loan than pay all up front. Not by a lot, but technically.

Of course this assumes you must spend money on a new phone and that other phones that cost less upfront have additional costs over time.
Its the way Apple phrased it, as a loan, at the top. Thats how they recognize it. Just so cringe.

iPhone is luxury expendable gadget that crashes in value. It should be such a minimal % of your income that it matters not.

Seems like upgrade customers are better off starting out a month or two later, not at launch, so they don’t risk making an extra payment or two on a phone that they’re waiting to trade in on the new one.

It’s worth remembering there is no secret stash of iPhones... if someone has their order prioritised, someone else is getting theirs de-prioritised.
Not necessarily true, Apple has some experience with these launches, and they know stuff happens. I’m sure they have some set aside for such contingencies—who knows, 5 or even 10% wouldn’t surprise me—instead of immediately selling every last unit in the first 15 minutes.

They also have flexibility built in from giving a date range for ship date; if they tell you 14-21 days, maybe you get it in 19 instead of 18 days. Imagine these same dynamics with 5-10 million pre-orders, millions of new orders coming in from now forward, and production continuing (hopefully) to ramp, people canceling orders, slightly over-estimating ship dates at order time, etc.

Apple has many years of experience with this many factored equation, and you can tell they’re pretty good at it; the proof being that ship dates often improve from the initial estimate. They obviously know it’s smart to under promise and then exceed their customers’ expectations.

I am also part of the Citizens Bank debacle. Thing is I wonder how many people that had the same issue will get an email? If not all then how do they choose? I was ordering the second they came live and ran into the issue. “Please do not place another order....”, yeah I listened. 4 hours late I get the damn email to now place your order and I am out to December now.

How do they choose who gets an email? For me personally its a big deal if i lose sleep so not thrilled even tho i know these things happen. So I still have my 6S+.

Apple this evening began sending emails to customers who attempted to pre-order an iPhone X through the iPhone Upgrade Program but ran into a problem during the process.

In the email Apple asks customers to place a new iPhone Upgrade Program order and to reply to the email with the order number. It's not clear why Apple is asking for order numbers, but it could be that the company is planning to expedite these orders in some way.

iphoneupgradeprogramorderemails-800x579.jpg

The email says Apple is working to get iPhone X models out as soon as possible, but the wording doesn't necessarily suggest an order upgrade or faster shipping, so it's possible Apple is just making sure its iPhone Upgrade Program customers have the chance to place an order.

Customers receiving these emails seem to have been told during ordering that their loan applications with Citizens One were taking longer to process than expected, and many later received notice that their orders were not initially approved. These customers were forced to order at a later date and now have delivery estimates of five to six weeks for their new devices.

If it does turn out Apple is planning to expedite the orders of these customers in some way, we'll update this post, but at the current time, it's unclear what Apple's plans are.

Crossing my fingers now after receiving the email and replied back to them. Really wanted to get it by Thanksgiving Day to use with the watch and start working out more.

If you're not working out now and making excuses now, it won't last when you do start (if you really do) working out.

My shipping date is still mid December. I was hoping to have it back to the 9:30am pick up on 11/3 I queued for at 1205am.

Will update here if something happens.

The rep I talked to said changing to store pickup was unlikely. I too originally had a 1030 am pickup.

AT&T did something similar for me when my order with 11/3 delivery was cancelled for no reason. I have to call their loyalty department first thing Friday morning, but they guaranteed me two day shipping and $699 for the 256GB version. I don’t know if they offered the same deal to others who were affected, but I believe the fact that I have five lines plus an iPad all outside of contract probably helped. I wasn’t rude, but I did make it clear I was not happy, and Verizon was looking pretty good by comparison. In their defense, I do believe it was an honest database glitch of some kind, and the two people I spoke with in their customer loyalty department were both professional and genuinely helpful. As long as I get my new phone for the promised discount by the promised time, I’m happy.

Was able to get through to Apple Website @ 12:15 AM Friday after trying a few times with Safari on Apple Store link. Entered Cricket Wireless number as AT&T; no go (Cricket is subsidiary of AT&T; that's why). Got a Reservation Number from Apple; it said that it's good for 24 hours. Later Friday finally had the right AT&T number; tried Reservation Number. Website said, '.... no record of number'! Very disappointed. Finally, had to start all over and got a Dec 11 ~ Dec 18 shipping date. Apple, I lost my place in the queue early Friday morning. Can you help? It's a 256g iPX and not small change (to me)

Called and the lady said she changed my BF’s delivery date from Dec to 11/3. Try it!

Actually, my series 0 played a big part in losing 20 pounds that year. Having that activity monitor sitting on your wrist, reminding you that you haven’t been as active as should be today, is a wonderful tool. It’s only gotten better with gymkit in WatchOS 4, not that it would do me any good as Precor machines aren’t supported for some reason, and of course that’s the brand my gym stocks (probably because it’s much better than Matrix or Nautilus)

Thank you for letting me know that you know more about me than myself and what had happened in the past few years. I can always use the extra memory from someone else to help me remember what had happened.
It is so easy to criticize someone else is having some problems/issues but not having any constructive solutions. Even a young child can do that.

It simply helps with motivation. See below.

I was hitting the gym at least 5 days a week before I got the DD214.
The whole world changed upside down afterwards, where I simply lost the motivation to keep doing that.
Gained over 50 pounds since then and know that is bad for my health deep in my heart.

Now after watching the keynote on the Watch series 3, I think I found the motivator but had to return it back to the store (delivered 2 weeks early!) because the phone order is not arriving on the expected date.
So, crossing fingers and wish everyone who were stuck with the pre-order to have the best of luck.

Honestly had to look up DD214. Yeah, life can throw you curve balls, which gets you off track. Has happened to me a million times. The most important thing is that you pick yourself back up. Always possible.

If you need a watch to achieve your goals, they must be epic.

Indeed the one goal was pretty awesome! Burned 500 active calories in a single run, which I had not accomplished before.

Now as far as my life goals, I'm 26, married, the president of my corporation and currently managing two DBA's under that INC umbrella. The watch didn't help me with that, but I do look pretty bad ass wearing it at the gym.

Don’t feel bad. I had someone just like this comment on a different thread that anyone who brought an iPad to the gym wasn’t really working out and had no business there. Apparently everyone works out the same way, and what doesn’t work for one can’t work for anyone else, because that’s how the world works in their narrow view.

I don’t think that’s fair; don’t project what’s true for you as everyone else’s truth.

Many find the watch helps motivate them, and they exercise when maybe they wouldn’t have, and/or more than they would have otherwise, just to close the rings on the activity tracker.

Different things work for each of us, the watch may or may not help motivate any given individual. It doesn’t make sense that it wouldn’t help anyone, which is what you’re claiming.

Just received a reply from Apple (my name and their name crossed out in the screenshot).
They said check back in 3 business days on our order page. (That would be Wednesday, right??)
Keeping you guys posted as soon as I hear more news on the topic.
